That Heifetz Vibrato (as an example from 1:13 to 1:48) -- it's something unique -- he could convey a virtually infinite variety of colours, tones and emotions with it. And his bowing.... -- He had every gift a violinist could dream of.
The depth of musicality that Jascha the master brings to Caprice 24 is unparalleled. And he does it with such effortless ease !
The Diablo plays Violin, so the hell is the true heaven and Paganini maybe should be our god. Just i don't know what level of virtuosity should have someone to compose a song like this or toccata e fuga ....
@WindowsFatalError my friend i couldn't agree more whit you but you made just one tiny mistake and i only point it out because your sentence would be more perfect...a virtuoso i a person who is PERFECT...by definition....so you can't have a level of virtuosity....otherwise..you have my like =)
I've heard many others play this melody, but Heifetz is truly exceptional. When he plays it sounds so natural, so well prepared, perfect timing... really amazing. My favorite so far
@gibsonpaddy or he wouldn't care, he'd be more offended by people's snobbery, but the piano is awful and very out of place. Markov makes this his own with his Pizzicato...
You spelled Uberly wrong, but I agree with you ^_^ Legato isn't as hard for a lot of players as his crazy flying upbow staccato in variation 1 but it's still trancendental.
Timing between the legato and the bow strokes in between it reminds me of Jeff Loomis's legato.
You can see what i mean, look up on youtube, "Jeff Loomis, Chris Broderick Duel" He picks in between the legato runs. All to get the string to start buzzing, the rest are hammers ons and pull offs. My hats off to anyone with this Violin players ability. Its Amazing and Jaw Dropping.
(oober is OOOOOO-Bur, as Uber is UH-Bur, same thing just a different way to say it ^^)lol
@ayumiayu01 I hope you get english. From 3:51 it is Variation number 9. Depending on the note, he uses his bow for downstrokes, or uses his left hand to do pizzicato.
what do you refer? plucking different pitches at the same time and on the same string?... i don't know if it is possible, with overtones....but i think it isn't.

Guitar? is that an instrument? Everyone plays guitar, few have originality, let alone talent. Even fewer actually know how to read music, so they wing it, play by ear, or drown their noise with wa wa pedals, lots of reverb, or other crap. I'm not saying all guitar players, just most of em. Personally, I never had the interest, I guess because it's common, and boring to me. Guitar and rock is a fad today but the classics are forever.
No musician has the right to reject the integrity of another's instrument. The guitar is a strong instrument. The fact that is accessible and popular does not detract from it's musical value, in fact I feel it adds to it. But then again, youtube comments are famed for their narrow-minded views of anything and everything.
icellomello, i agree with little of what you say, so what if people can't read music? They like it - let them be. Even though guitar is the common instrument in rock it doesn't mean it's bad. To me, guitar classics are very soothing, btw.Like HoshoLegacy said "No musician has the right to reject the integrity of another's instrument." totally true. Besides, I like Linkin Park(rock) and Fort Minor(rap). And don't forget that most of the rock bands always started off with CLASSICS at music schools!
I always think Heifetz's performance is harsh. His skill is fantanstic, but he just transformed everything into his own style. No matter what it is, Mozart, Beethoven, Paganini, Tchaikovsky..., all you can hear is the same 'Heifetz'.
