Hi Steve, I had feedback problems so my custumizer put in a piece of hard plastic in the F-hole to prevent this,it really helps. Further the pick you see is a seymour-duncan hum-bucker, I replaced the original Benson Ibanez, this pick-up pronounces the mid frequency more and has more body (bass),the bridge is made of wood and is original, this guitar isn't produced anymore, but I'm very glad I own one, greets Vic.

Thanks Mitty, I really enjoy playing Bossa Nova,in Jazz, great rhythm to play over, thanks for tuning in and commenting, most welcome always, greets Vic.
What a wonderful playing with beautiful guitar sound! Everytime you play a new tune from the artist I'm not familiar with, it make me try to look other songs from the artist! I don't listen Chick Corea too much, after watch this I really want to search his other songs! It happened when you play E.W. & Fire too. And Vic, your guitar phrasing always make me jealous. I wish I could play improvisation thing like you did..
Thanks so much Lanang, always welcome man.Chick Corea is fantastic,a great inspiration for me, man don't worry I get the same feeling when I hear you play Flamenco,I mean I can do a bit of that but you're the real deal man, to dominate all these styles I need an extra lifetime of studying, keep in touch,Vic.
500 Miles High, this one seems a 1000. Hi Vic, Nice sound and feel like always and in Bossa Style allot different and more swinging. Miles would have liked this style and who knows he's up there blowing his trumped swinging on the clouds with his Angels. 5* it is and keep those beautiful tunes rolling man, Loved it, Greets, John (Willemstad)
Thanks John, how you like the Vid quality in high resolution, yesterday I bought an additional external drive (500GB) cause I'm planning on doing all future Vids in this quality, everything is so much nicer this way, sound and Imaging, maybe you're right about Miles, what an inspiration that guy was, abrazzo Vic.
Hi Vic, yes the quality is suburb, sound imaging all very much better, like Warner Brothers real Prof. Boy I have a 40GB external Drive and thought I had allot. I have several CD's from Miles and one in the time he was very depressed these tunes have never been published before his style is quiet different and can hear the rather sad sounds coming from his trumpet still unique in style from the master within. Life isn't easy as times pressure becomes to much to handle. Greets, John (Willemstad)
John one of these quality Vids take up to nearly 300MB and I'm not going back to a lesser quality now,now you understand why I bought that 500 GB external hard disk, good quality cost money( but will pay back, our secret) and for Miles, the guy was a great Musician and Artist,he had vision during each period of his life, I'd like to hear that CD you mentioned, never heard of it, got to start working on our Site again, greets Vic.
You are right Vic, I need to make time for our Website. The year started your brother very hectic with both businesses still made money last year is worth hanging on. I tried a couple of days ago but the ideas just didn't come to me. Don't worry, I have my designs and layout ready on paper, now it's just to get them written out and uploaded and once I start will finish it all. We will talk soon, Greets, John (Willemstad)
Thanks Arthur, heard anything bout Naudo,is he back on another new channel? It's great you mention "Soul" man, it was always my task to bring "balance" between intellect(knowledge) and playing from the Heart, you refer to as "Soul" it is my life's destiny, a hug my friend,Vic.
Good Morning Victor. I still observing a new videos of Naudo on Y.T. But all are from another people. Thanks God for this people who remember Naudos creativity and Himself.
Artur,I'll send a mail as soon as I can to Juan Ignatio(his camaraman) and find out what the plans are for Naudo, how can we forget such a great person and friend,I'll get in touch with them, till later,Vic.
Thanks Wouter, great having you here, just bought an external hard disc to store Vids (500 GB) getting kinda crowded on my Mac,I'm planning to shoot all further Video's in high resolution,
I know what you mean,Sabine when I was going to the conservatory I was staring at Music sheets all the time, then I saw these Jazz Cats playing the most beautiful standards without Sheet-music, I thought I'm going to train mentaly to do that too, visualize all the chords in my brain then put the paper away, it feels much freer and I don't need paper all the time.Greets Vic.
Well Justinshort09, a very interesting question, what I do with a new tune is learn the theme real well (the theme has the form in melodic sense) then I strum the chords and start humming alternative melodies to myself, then I put away the sheet-Music and see if I can go on doing this without paper, then after a few days repeating this process I've internalized the Form of the Music and know it by Heart, Greets Vic.
Thanks crik,it's great you mention emotion, that's so very important to me,I mean one can have all this knowledge but if you cannot canalize it in some individual expression, all seems so meaningless, greetings Vic.
Excellent performance! The improvisation is fantastic, and I love the harmony -- sadly I have not heard the original version, but after hearing yours, I'm definitely going to check it out!
Thanks Dave, it's in the line of what you're doing I think, really enjoyed your Jobim (empty Beach), great atmosphere, I love Jobim as a composer. We'll surely keep in touch man,you got loads of talent,I've heard that, greets Vic.
Thanks my great Amigo, this year we'll continue to have a great time on the Tube, enjoying each others work and hopefully inspiring each other a lot, greets from Holland,Vic.
Thanks Daryl, you pinpoint exactly where it's at, phrasing, good and interesting notes and precise rhythm, glad you commented Maestro you're a talented damn good player, great meeting you here, keep in touch,Vic.
love your jazz playing, makes you want to move around.wish my husband could dance.i well hold my little dog and move.5 stars, like this one very much.favorite.peace,love,mary
Thanks Mary, it's a good thing this rhythm makes you want to move, and I think your little dog will like it too, I might name another piece: Dancing with dogs,LOL greets Vic.
It is a masterpiece played by a real artist with an attitude and understanding towards jazz . Every chord , every note are pure joy to listen to. 5 ***** !!!
Thanks Bruce, good to hear that things are picking up for you, just keep playing and let Music sooth the Soul man, have a good glas wine on me brother,Till soon all the best,Vic.
Excellent arrangement. beautiful harmony, you have a classic jazz tone and delivery. To me the improvised solo fits very nice. It's melodic. There are several lines that imply harmony that is not played. Very clever. Martin Taylor is a master of that also. The line at 1:56 lags slightly behind the beat which is clever. Some of the greatest jazz singers did that also. I have listened to this several times. I can not find anything negative.
Thanks soo much Allen for taking your time to write such a fantastic comment, really inspiring to me to know you as a person with great love for Music and a very good musician. You mention Martin Taylor he's an absolute killer musician, I love his playing also his harmonized themes. It just entered my mind, you wanted to know through what I play, I go straight into my old little "Spirit-soundcraft" 4 channel mixer, and slightly adjust low's ,mid and high's(EQ) from there into the PC audioport,Vic.
Allen, just reading your comment I overlooked something you mentioned that's interesting, that lick at 1.56 there I play a C triad and D triad against Bb maj, here especially the D triad (D,F#,A notes) gives a very interesting color against the chord, the F# is raised 5 of the Bbmajor7 chord, the C traid has the E as interesting note, the flat 5 of Bbmaj7, I love experimenting with triads,I think your ear grasped that outside sound at that spot. Thanks for sending,Still got the Blues, from Igor,Vic.
Thanks Pascal, it's a fine composition by Chic Corea and I could improvise on it for hours never getting bored, how can some one get bored making Music? It means the person doesn't have the key to his own Imagination, Greets Vic.
Thanks, jkil.. this is an old "Ibanez GB-20" absolutely love this instrument great feel to it, I know "How high the Moon" might record it sometime, greets Vic.
Thanks Paul, I agree with you, I used some of your concepts here, combining three melodic minor scales on the 2-5-1 in A-minor(man I learned that from you and I'm really grateful) Do you know the concept of combining three half dim arpeggio's in the case: B (half-dim) D(h-dim) and F#(h-dim) also works great. I'm also wood-shedding lately,so much still to learn man,I need an extra life too,LOL greets Vic.
Thanks Roeleke ,I picture you movin round with your cats, learning them to appreciate some tight rhythm, yeah have another listen on me and it's special for you,lol greets Vic.
Thanks James, I'm filming on the highest resolution now, that's advized by YT getting the best Image and sound results 640-480. I'm very pleased with this quality, greets Vic.
yea and the audio sounds great! If you add "&fmt=18" to the URL for this video, just add it to the end of the web address, you'll hear an even MORE clearer stereo rendition, the audio will be CD quality. Sounds very very good my man :)
Thanks for the advice James, man that stereo is awsome, I think this is the utmost I can get out my Mac OS-X with built in camara, now I've milked out all the quality,ha ha, Greets Amigo,Vic.
very impressive version really, ill try to work on that and learn something
the version in light as a feather is also among my all time favourites.
and a question:
i found out the chords but how do you approach the song in improvising? Chord by chord or in terms of modes/ modulations? If latter, how many modulations are there in the chord progression?
(sorry if that was malopropos/cheeky, i know noone else personally whom i could ask it to )
Thanks Nurikara, guess I'll have to start giving lectures here on modes , modulations, and Jazz theory as well, I'll send you a mail with the basic Ideas I use, however after all these years of playing I think I'm mixing quite some possible concepts that are applicable,of course complex to explain in a few words,we'll keep in touch,Vic.
Wow you play song very good. My teacher me this one to learn but it seems that you have a lot more chords than what i have written. Are you play the singers part?

Hi Vic.
All I can say is - wow, what a great version!
I'm an Australian and trying to link up with others who are into some of the jazz and jazz fusion produced in the 70's.
I read above that you created your backing track using Band in a Box.
Is there any chance that you could send me a copy of the file (assuming there is an MP3 or WAV version available)?
I'd seriously be willing to pay you for it!
Thanks.

Hi Vic,
this was a very nice improvisation. I wish I could do that too. I always have to look on my sheet music. Perhaps you could give me a lesson ;-)?
Sabine
SabMei1 3 years ago
I know what you mean,Sabine when I was going to the conservatory I was staring at Music sheets all the time, then I saw these Jazz Cats playing the most beautiful standards without Sheet-music, I thought I'm going to train mentaly to do that too, visualize all the chords in my brain then put the paper away, it feels much freer and I don't need paper all the time.Greets Vic.
Jazzguts 3 years ago
What was your usual practice routine to "visually put those chords in your brain?"
Justinshort09 3 years ago
Well Justinshort09, a very interesting question, what I do with a new tune is learn the theme real well (the theme has the form in melodic sense) then I strum the chords and start humming alternative melodies to myself, then I put away the sheet-Music and see if I can go on doing this without paper, then after a few days repeating this process I've internalized the Form of the Music and know it by Heart, Greets Vic.

Always full of emotion, i love it.

Thanks crik,it's great you mention emotion, that's so very important to me,I mean one can have all this knowledge but if you cannot canalize it in some individual expression, all seems so meaningless, greetings Vic.

VERY well done,
allen
carvetop01 3 years ago
Thanks soo much Allen for taking your time to write such a fantastic comment, really inspiring to me to know you as a person with great love for Music and a very good musician. You mention Martin Taylor he's an absolute killer musician, I love his playing also his harmonized themes. It just entered my mind, you wanted to know through what I play, I go straight into my old little "Spirit-soundcraft" 4 channel mixer, and slightly adjust low's ,mid and high's(EQ) from there into the PC audioport,Vic.
Jazzguts 3 years ago
Allen, just reading your comment I overlooked something you mentioned that's interesting, that lick at 1.56 there I play a C triad and D triad against Bb maj, here especially the D triad (D,F#,A notes) gives a very interesting color against the chord, the F# is raised 5 of the Bbmajor7 chord, the C traid has the E as interesting note, the flat 5 of Bbmaj7, I love experimenting with triads,I think your ear grasped that outside sound at that spot. Thanks for sending,Still got the Blues, from Igor,Vic.

Well played Vic. A beautiful song. I've also been working on this tune recently.
Regards,

pauldil 3 years ago
Thanks Paul, I agree with you, I used some of your concepts here, combining three melodic minor scales on the 2-5-1 in A-minor(man I learned that from you and I'm really grateful) Do you know the concept of combining three half dim arpeggio's in the case: B (half-dim) D(h-dim) and F#(h-dim) also works great. I'm also wood-shedding lately,so much still to learn man,I need an extra life too,LOL greets Vic.
Jazzguts 3 years ago
Vic, yes, I use that half-dim approach too, cool sound! Also try the same with a major 2-5-1, only using 3 m7 arps, so in C it's Dm7, Fm7,Am7
Best,
Paul.

Jazzguts 3 years ago
very impressive version really, ill try to work on that and learn something
the version in light as a feather is also among my all time favourites.
and a question:
i found out the chords but how do you approach the song in improvising? Chord by chord or in terms of modes/ modulations? If latter, how many modulations are there in the chord progression?
(sorry if that was malopropos/cheeky, i know noone else personally whom i could ask it to )
nurikara 3 years ago
Thanks Nurikara, guess I'll have to start giving lectures here on modes , modulations, and Jazz theory as well, I'll send you a mail with the basic Ideas I use, however after all these years of playing I think I'm mixing quite some possible concepts that are applicable,of course complex to explain in a few words,we'll keep in touch,Vic.
