  • My sister gave me Jeannette's book for christmas and I loved it! I read it in two days. She is an amazing woman with an amazing story to tell. I bought Half Broke Horses and was just as good as her Glass Castle. I even did a speech about it in my communications class and my professor asked to borrow it, lol.

  • I just read the Glass Castle for my English class and it was one of the best books I have ever read.

Jeannette Walls is a truly amazing author. I just bought Half Broke Horses and I can't wait to read it. :]

  • This book is a GREAT READ read it in a 4 hour flight. MUST GET this book! I also loved Angela's Ashes. Good read as well.

  • This book is a GREAT READ read it in a 4 hour flight. MUST GET this book!

  • i definitely recommend the glass class

  • This book is a romanticization of trash for a payday.

  • What type of medium is this video from? One would have had to already read the book to appreciate this video. It doesn't 'sell" the book to perspective readers. Where is this shot? Is Rosemary living in a property owned by Jeanette now? This is an amazing book, and I wish this mini compilation did more to appeal to perspective readers.

  • i'm pretty sure if this book was made into a movie, it would win an oscar

  • wow, there were so many instances of perversion during her life when she was so young and her parents looked away! They didn't care about her being assaulted by a predator.

  • I guess it's a good thing Rose Mary Walls scavenges all around New York, because if she had an actual address she'd be shot by the morning by angry parents.

Bitch, I don't care how good your artwork is if you can't even achieve basic decent human being.

  • When I read the part in the book where Jeannette's mom hid a Hershy bar for herself to devour while her 4 kids were starving for any food, I was so furious!

I wonder if Jeannette's mom, to this day, has ever apologized to her kids for her being such an unfit mother when her kids needed her the most?

  • @hsinhsinYT Or when she quit teaching for her art! That was the worst for me. I'm amazed at Jeannette's ability to look past all this.

  • I would give the book a C+. A much better book would is Angela's Ashes.

  • Jeanette Walls wrote all the bad things her parents did , but she never did one thing to be ashamed of in the whole book. What a wonderful person she must be. I have a feeling there is more to her climb to success than she lets on, and the only thing she has to be grateful for is her family because they were the only interesting thing about the book, she isn't interesting. You don't just move to New York from Appalachia penniless and end up on Park Avenue., an Ivy League graduate.

  • oh fuck off

  • You're pathetic.

  • benedictrove- did you actually READ the book? She does admit to several things she did wrong, such as stealing a watch, shooting a gun at a boy, letting down her little sister, etc.

Or maybe this hit too close to home with you? Perhaps you're in the shitty parents' club as well.

  • a friend gave me this book and honestly is the best book i´ve ever read!!

its amazing no matter what people say..

and besides its the truth of how poor people have to live...

i support jeanette she is a really good writter.

  • The best book I've ever read. Also the most depressing.

  • THis was actually one of the greatest books I have ever read. I read it last June for summer homework for AP English, and it was AMAZING!! A life changing read....

  • this was a very good book

she went through so much shit

  • are you people fucking stupid? Your really gonna say shit about her life? This is like the best book i ever read. and its such a sad story and your all gonna talk shit? id like to see half you people go through the shit she did and ill sit here and write fucked up comments to you.

  • Just finished the book. Enjoyable quick read, but I can definitely tell she has tried to model her life and relationship with her dad to Francie Nolan's in ATGIB.

  • Please do not assume Jeanette Walls is lying. First of all she is a genius, blessed with a strong memory. These events of her childhood are unforgettable memories. Second this story doesn't imply that the remembers every single detail of her life. She wrote what was important to her and those times that were the most important were also her most memorable. Can't you recall your most memorable times with detail? Whether they are good or bad memories, Walls' recollection is remarkable and honest.

  • the book was kinda boring. but it was an amazing story.

  • omg! ur such a pig. u cant say that about her. ur such a bitch.

  • Hey Hitler, he can say what he wants. Just because you are fooled by her lies, don't go crazy like Rex Walls.

  • Well, you have to imagine, most of the things in the story triggered a lot of trauma/emotion. People who have amazing thing s happen to them, no matter how young, will remember it.

  • i feel like she kindof downplayed it a little bit in this video but the part in the book where her father gave them the stars for christmas was the most beautiful thing ive ever read.

  • This is an amazing story! I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read it.

  • i'am reading the glass castle so far pretty good.

  • Great book i really enjoyed it!

  • i read this book now. i love this book

  • Th ebook was a joke and mostly fabricated. NO ONE remembers the things she claims to remember from that early of an age. She's a liar.

  • all creative nonfiction writers have to elaborate on some things, or else the story would be utterly dull and lifeless. but i think the core points of her childhood are so vivid and eccentric that they're true

  • I just don't know about this book. Even with embellishment - it seems made up. Someone would have noticed what her parents were doing and reported it at some point.

  • I thought that, too, but then, a lot of abuse goes unnoticed. a good read, not a classic, but fascinating. she is indeed a strong, hearty and wonderful woman.

  • Im readin this book 4 my skool

    SUMMMER READIN

  • Was it for an AP English Class?

  • i just read that book 4 an english class and it turned out to be my favorite that ive ever read, i can realte to it sooo much

  • Yeah - she lives in splendor and her mom eats out of dumpsters! Hooray for Jeanette! WHat a gal!!

  • Her mother is a worthless loafer.

  • Agreed. Her mother should definitely have been put in a home of some sort she was obviously very mentally ill.

  • @Alfrunk shes not necesarily crazy she just has a different view of life and how to raise her kids.

  • SUCH A GOOOOD BOOK!

  • This was an awesone book, and I want to research on her way more than I already have. I love her. I love how the book is s memoir-its true. I love it so much.

  • i love her! she was at my school yesterday!

  • The audience on a tour, whether book, music, fashion, circus, academic or otherwise is always different and she is talking about the same material so why change the material. I can understand variety in delivery but the content is remain the same..especially she bcoz she is selling the same product. Unless if you are "blowing the whistle" on her charisma, delivery, fashion sense or taste then save your insipid and rather obvious observations to yourself.

  • When you have some command of the English language, no matter how minute, you may respond to me. Sod off.

  • "When you have some command of the English language, no matter how minute, you may respond to me. Sod off.".....lol;) ditto

  • Nice comma splice you dullard.

  • That is not a comma splice. Ugh!

  • My GOD stfu you disgusting idiot.

  • So, you're a 51 year old man (?) who gets off by insulting people who just want to comment on a book. WEIRDO!

  • Yeah, I'm participating in discourse and commenting on videos. WOW what a weirdo! Judgmental "people" like you make me sick. You're a nice little bigot aren't you? Sick sick sick.

  • I am a person. A real person. I am not hypthetically a person. I wonder how different it would be if the Alfrunks of the world tried amiability as an alternative to cruelty. It is so easy to be mean, especially when you can't see my eyes.

  • I like being mean. It makes me feel good. Don't be such a wuss you'll never get anywhere.

  • Karma's going to knock you on your ass one day and you won't be able to get back up.

  • This is such a good book! Her situation was very difficult yet she still manages to word it so it does not sound like she is whining. I really think you should all go out and get this book. (I read a lot!) This is one of my favorites.

  • It's nice to see this video.

I just finished reading her book last night.

It was a book i couldn't put down and i would recommend it to everyone.

  • Amazing story! ... just reccomended it to a friend.

  • Nice Film
