I saw this movie when it was first released. A Kubrick classic, typically utterly contrasting with his every other opus, but so shocking, that as with 'The Exorcist', I never watched it again.
It was my introduction to Beethoven 9 as a matter of fact.
Strange that the old man didnt say To him like "i know it was you, CAUSE YOU WHERE THE GUY WHO SUNG THAT SONG AND YOU BADLY RAPED MY WIFE AND NOW YOU ARE GETTING YOUR JUST DESERTS"
@KroliggBloodhoof The old man reacts to 'Singing in the Rain' in a distressing way because like Alex he has been conditioned by the music, associated with the attack he and his wife received.
@JennieParker87 Don't let the other guy fool you... He knew who he was all along. The whole group of them knew who he was and that's why they "saved" him... In order to get him to kill himself. The book is great and so is the movie.
@JennieParker87 yes, he knew. Politician, who opposed this way of cure, told him what old man thought about him. But he didn't believe it. He thought the old man was crazy.
@JennieParker87: He figured it out while he was singing 'Singing In The Rain' in the bath tub. Actually a very finny scene. Because it is so ironic and awkward.
you know i never felt one inch of sympathy for alex, he really got what he deserved. so glad someone posted this, probably one of the best scenes in the movie!
worth buying the movie for this scene alone.

As much as I love Burgess' book, it's scenes like this which make me love the movie slightly more. Too bad Burgess doesn't agree
