I remember buying this album in 1981 - yes in vinyl! I missed the Santa Monica civic concert in Sept 1981 but always loved this band - yes...nothing lasts forever...God speed Pete and James! You live forever on You Tube!!!
From what i know. He was a cool guy; until he became totally addicted and became somewhat of a tool.
That's why he had to be kicked out. Chrissie always said that she wanted to resolve the Pete issue and talk to him about getting kicked out; but, he died before it happened.

I love all of The Pretenders classics... this one has some great lyrics and some not so great. I think Chrissie should have given this song to Kate Bush, I think she would have made this song twice as beautiful. Like Bono giving 'Mystery Girl' to Roy Orbison. U2 are great! The Pretenders are great! Some songs simply belong in other artists heads. (eg. Private Dancer - Mark Knopfler)

I wonder what type a person Pete Farndon really was? Great looking only says what he looked like, not how he really was.

Whether it is true to Chrissie's life or not, this is a sensitive and gorgeous song which she sings with great subtlety and feeling.
