I asked my harpsichord builder if he could create a tall stand for my harpsichord. It occurred to me that most musicians and singers, given the opportunity to choose, would rather perform standing than sitting---the position implies greater commitment. I wanted to experience that feeling as well. The elevation also improves the projection of the harpsichord's sound. And yes, why shouldn't we harpsichordists be on "the same level" as the singers and other instrumentalists? We don't use our feet!
im doing this song in ensemble for our school! It's really awesome. were doing a "twist on the classics" but this one is going to be a really good piece so we make the croud cry!
If you aren't sure of the piece's authorship, it's because copyright law didn't exist as it does today. Some composers do not put their names on the scores. J.S. Bach's sacred works would be classified today as "works for hire", with the church as the employer, intended for single performances.
Yes! I've got mp3 of Scholl singing this piece. And it's perfect! It's shame I don't see there's one on Youtube. You may go to Scholl's official website for a search.

I'd love to hear about the elevated haprsichord!!!! It's great to see a keyboard on the same level as a soloist and free to move around too!

This piece isn't by Bach, it's by Stolzel. Magdalena included it in the song book for some reason or other.
It's still quite beautiful though, and even more so when sung in a duet.

What are you talking about?
This IS by Stolzel, not Bach.
AaronShenkman 3 years ago
Bach probably put it into Anna's notebook because he loved her and he also loved the song!

I love Bach, and I really like the way this music is sung ! Thank you very much !

the piece is BWV508 and is definitely bach from the Magdelene song book.
