  • Holy shit, Batman! How is this possible?

  • Comment removed

  • Totally jawdropping! It seems more an Amiga demo than an 8Bit one. Compliments!

  • Give me one sec to pick up my jaw from the floor. thank you.

    Amazing !!

  • My jaws agape. Stunning work lads. I remember being a kid hacking around on my old CPC128, and discovering all sorts of undocumented shit like some extra graphics modes that the OS didnt really understand (couldnt align stuff up properly) but the hardware clearly did. There was a lot of unlocked potential in these machines, but with no internet ,BBSs still rare, and the game companies refusing to divolge secrets the info just wasnt getting to developers. This really was an underestimated machine

  • Why is the large 3D bat logo spinning more smoothly than the small one?

  • @FreeFireFull Because (I think), small logo is fully software rendered and the big one is getting lots of help from the crtc.

  • @FreeFireFull A stylish. seeing the little "slow" the big fast is more impressive. The message was "you think the CPC can only do this, but he does that". ;)

  • WOWOWOWOW WOWOWOW dudes is there anyway i can get the demo onto my mobile phone in a 300k or less file i can send to my friends as a multimedia message ????

  • Amazing, I loved my Amstrad, first computer, but the sound chip has always been a pain on it, but omg this demo really kicked some ass in the sound business.

Probably the best thing ever to come out of the Amstrad Scene, major Kudos to the guys behind this, great ideas and routines, but for me the sound was just over the edge. Yes, I have major SID envy, but this got close imo!

  • @Joliie Try to listen to some of the Ultrasyd compositions on Amstrad. That guy really knows how to make the AY sing :)

  • @mcklain roger

  • Holy Crap...

  • C64 user reporting in, this kicks major ass.

  • This looks better than Atari ST. And that's 16-bit, 8 Mhz, 1MB of RAM. How is this possible?

  • It's not about how many bits you have, it's about how you use them... This demo rocks.

  • If that's possible then in 50 years time people will be doing demos on Quad Cores with 16Tb of RAM....wonder what that will be...re-spawning several generations of human beings ..calculating the entire genome for the entire life of every species in the universe?? ...mapping and fly through of the entire galaxy...just for demo purpose of course.

Current computers use very little of their RAW computing power...mostly it's hogged by windows.

  • ZX Spectrum user reporting in. That demo is awesome! Blows the other 8 bits out the water. Amazing work.

  • 100% all Amstrad. Believe it.

  • audio is definitely Amstrad, but no way cpc can do 50fps

  • just amazing !!!!

  • Amazing! Haven't seen that kind of things in a CPC in my life!

    A masterwork! :D

  • Very impressive indeed, nice work!

  • I guess some excellent programmers are real fans of Batman...

  • Well, that's what 20 years of algorithm advancement gets you. I know that the CPC had better graphics capabilities than the competing 8-bit PCs, but this is (as far as I know) on an entirely different level.

  • I LOVE this music... I have written some lyrics over it and would like to make a song... Please contact me at jdsouth1@aol.com - I am a friend of Majek and also on Radio Frontius.... Thank you, JD

  • I didn't believe this demo was running on a non plus cpc at first! Then I watched the "Batman Forever demo on a real cpc" by SLTe also on here somewhere, it shows the true borderless screen. still can't believe this runs on an a standard cpc. I've signed up to utube just to post comments about this demo. A truly fantastic piece of work!

  • brilliant

  • It blowed me away. Kids of today's generation knows NOTHING about real computing.

  • ace

  • Great demo!

  • Try to understand what I'm saying: I don't say that's the best 8bit demo. I don't say that it's better than the amiga. Hell I even told that this AND Edge of Disgrace are the best demos I 've ever seen! And don't give me shit about "good for cpc" and such. It's an excellent demo on all 8bit platforms. Just like Edge of Disgrace. Just like Robotic Liberation. Just like Numen etc. Isn't it fanatical and fanboysm claiming that EoD is the best all around demo just because it's on C64? Think about it

  • great everything..

  • c64 got owned by this demo, period...

  • @trocoloco: I disagree. I've seen little here that I haven't seen done in C64 demos.

  • @inphanta sorry to say this, but for example I haven't seen yet a 3d logo like the batman one, on hi res overscan at that speed, running on C64, I've seen some try at CSDB, and honestly nowhere near. But if you know about one please let me know cos surely I don't know as much as you about C64 demos.

Truly, I recommend you you watch it on a real CPC and you will see by youself what things are done before and what not. In any case i do like a lot C64s too as I own one too, greetings.

  • @trocoloco: The 3D logo was very impressive and yes, you're right, I've not seen that on a C64 either. But then again, I did say "I've seen LITTLE here that I haven't seen done in C64 demos" and NOT "There is nothing here I haven't seen done in C64 demos".

  • @inphanta of course that we have seen this effects on other demos, no doubt about that, but what I mean its how well the amstrad can perform all of them in terms of quality, speed and resolution of any of them, bare in mind that all the effects are working in full screen overscan. This machine has been was always underrated by C64 fans and this demo proved them wrong.

  • Great demo - some of that stuff was only seen on 16-bit machines, the CPC is a damn underrated computer. Personally I really liked programming on them, just in basic and nothing like what these guys got upto of course. It was a shame that so many games were direct Speccy ports, and the other games tended to have horrible graphics.

  • Awesome O_o

  • nice demo!

  • some nice effects ! i realize the CPC hasn't be used at 100 % of its power, during his exploitation .

i really enjoy the computer of my childhood is always living ;)

    nice work dudes !

  • This is by far the best piece of 8bit programming. There is simply nothing that can excede this demo in terms of programming technics and overcoming hardware limitations. Now we have seen everything 8 bit era computers can give us....

  • @Misel982001 amstrad had much better hardware than the rest of the 8 bit computers. was the youngest computer among them.

  • @thorgallpl: The Amstrad had more colours. That's it. It's sprite handling and hardware scrolling was atrocious. Good demo, though.

  • I still can't believe this comes from a plain CPC (not even a plus??)

    THE BEST demo overall -period.

  • Impresionante, Increible, Fantastico, ...

    Bravo Batman Group.

  • I actually want to get my amstrad from my parents house to try this. Tried it on Winape. Could not believe it actually works. If I saw this play on my CPC, it would feel like it was re-incarnated from childhood.

  • I forgot. where is the link to download?

  • Here I am again. Damn wtf is this!!!!!

I think those guys are the same from amiga's batman...

Huge balls. Maybe you must think to join M$ to program finaly a great OS :-)

  • 20 times i've been watchin' it, and still can't believe (or POssibly comPRehend) what i'm seeing here. No PhotoshoP or faked montage here, since i ran the goddam disc... PeoPLe, how the Hell did you make it that far off the edge with that hardware. I mean, seriously the ZA80 sure PAcked quite a Punch for its time, by from there to what i'm witnessing here, there's STILL quite a bit of a stretch. Damn... some coders in this world are indeed mutants... thanks for the dreams come true.

  • Really good 4 an amstrad demo but u know that u r no match for a C=64 demo......

  • @giant000 what's the matter giant000? Are we feeling a little intimidated by the cpc?! I like when people saying "good demo FOR a cpc"... No dudes, it's a really, REALLY great demo for ALL 8bit platforms! Technically and design wise speaking, I believe Batman Forever and Edge of Disgrace are the top two 8-bit demos ever created!

  • @asicys No way could I ever been intimidated by the cpc! Really good demo that is, but don't get carried away.

    That's all.................

  • @giant000 Why not? Rhino have shown us things that normally isn't possible... Original stuff :-) Point me to a demo on the c64 that it's effects haven't been done to the death! Something fresh, original and new! And this IS one of the best demos on ALL 8bit range!

  • @asicys yes. im proud there re still many 8bit coders who truly love their old 8 bit machines!

  • @asicys Bulltish...points to Edge of Disgrace on the C64 which is still better.

This is a great demo - for a CPC demo - but that is because all CPC demos before it have sucked so badly by comparison.

  • @Gerardus1970 Edge of Disgrace is better, ok... It's a very good demo, great music, transition of effects etc etc... LIKE ONE GAJILLION OTHER DEMOS ON C64!! FFS dude, this machine have even played mp3! On the other hand we have the cpc that it's scene is mainly consisted of crappy scroller demos. And here comes Batman Forever to show amazing things, EVEN FOR C64! That's an epic win on my book. You 're just to short sited to admit that this is one of the best demos ON ALL 8Bit machines!!!

  • @asicys The CPC gets one good demo in 25 years and all of a sudden there are claims that it's the best 8 bit demo and better then Amiga... people need to settle down a bit, those claims are fanatical.

What this demo shows more then anything is that the CPC "scene", such as it is, has been lacking the will or talent to push the machine to do things that it has been capable of. I personally think that Robotic Liberation on the lowly stock VIC-20 is a fantastic themed demo.

  • @Gerardus1970 The CPC got its best demo after 25 years and this is just one point:The machine is still alive with a strong gamebase. Techically this is by far the best 8bit demo ever and if you have minor CPU and 8bit hardware knowledge it is not so difficult to understand why.....

  • @Misel982001 I understand perfectly, I have extensive CPU and 8 bit hardware knowledge but that doesn't change the fact that this demo is fantastic for an 8 bit demo but the claim it's the best 8 bit demo ever is still just fanboi hyperbole. The best is always just around the corner in the C64 demoscene, so if this is the Amstrad's money shot then I wouldn't be so smug.

  • go to your channel and check my answer mate.

  • Very impressive! Sound like an Amiga demo on CPC!

  • @striderfr Sounds NOTHING like an Amiga Demo... more like an ST Demo (seeing they shared a similar Soundchip (the Amstrad and ST). Watch Desert Dream or any of the older Amiga Demos, they sound MUCH better than this

  • @striderfr You wish.

  • Está genial enhorabuena!!!!!

  • INCREIBLE. ESTO DEMUESTRA QUE LA MAXIMA CALIDAD TRABAJO REALIZADO NO DEPENDE DE LA HERRAMIENTA SINO DE COMO USARLA.

  • vincentgreece you can run the demo on a any cpc with 128kb of ram and if you can also use a single 3.5" floppy disk to run it without the need of flipping sides

  • I didn't knew that cpc had blitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I have 3 cpc 6128 (non plus) can i run it???

What about PARADOS? I from 64K and basic 1.0 is 464???

  • @VincentGreece yes, the demo works fine on all CRTC0 and CRTC1 6128s as well as on 6128Plus

  • Really impressive

  • I love my CPC. Please save it to a 3" disk and send it to me.

    Just kidding. Congratulations. Awesome.

  • Very impressive fx!!!

  • Amstrad Returns...

My CPC6128 impressed me this time, Thx Rhino...

  • awesome. its pity that such productions didn't appeared in times when 8bits were on peak of popularity. It actually beats most of Amiga demos i watched on my emulator recently

  • @selmixxx You haven't watched the right demos then.

  • Comment removed

  • Incredible. 8-bit Sceners, the Gauntlet has been thrown down! Can you beat this?

  • Absolutely awesome!

  • I'm out of words.

    This is awesome!

  • Tnx for this FullHD edition!

  • Epic^2

  • This is epic.
