As much as I love Ginger, I am just as fascinated with the narrator, Fredric March, one of our greatest actors from the golden days of film. It was also great to see funny man, Jack Oakie, who was nominated for best supporting actor in the Charlie Chaplin film, The Great Dictator.
AHA! FINALLY! I have some proof to show my ingnorant friends (and old movie haters) that Ginger could not only stand but also dance on her own two feet without Fred!!!!! :D
anyone have any clue what Ginger mumbles after Jack takes back his hat? It prompts the presenter to say that he hopes none of us can lip read, so now I'm dying to know what she said!
I didn't even notice she was saying anything! I actually didn't pay much attention to FM when he said that. Hmm, now I'm curious! Too bad the film is so grainy.
Ginger wrote the lyrics to the song and had it put to music. This is preAstaire and it looks like to me she could dance a mean dance without him. The clip also gives you some insight into her teasing and humorous side. If you buy the DVD "The Best of Big Bands and Swing", it has Ginger's short film "Office Blues".
Oh wow thank you for the insight! You should write the sidebar descriptions for my videos, you do a much better job than do I!! Ginger was a very good dancer, considering she never took lessons.
I enjoy reading your comments, also. It is nice to fine others who share my obsession with Ginger. She is number one in my book. I wish I knew how to upload a video but then it is so hard to find the right music. She is such a special lady.
It was actually from 1933 as part of a "Paramount On Parade" short. May I ask what DVD it is on? I've got a VHS with this clip on it, but I've never seen it as a DVD bonus.
BTW, thank you so much for uploading! This is such an adorable clip. :)
Oh thanks! Im such a lousy Ginger fan I don't know anything! Oh it was called The Best of Big Bands and Swing. You have a VHS of Paramount on Parade? What else is on there?
Oh, thank you! I'll have to get that DVD. The VHS is called "Studio Snapshots" and is a collection of Paramount on Parade shorts from the '30s. Shorts with Bing Crosby, George Burns & Gracie Allen Buster Keaton, and Milton Berle are also on it.

What she says is "how do you like that" when the sound is cut off at the end.

I think this video is great! It's so nice to see Ginger's talent in the early thirties without fred. She was a talented dancer.

I could teach you about uploading videos if you want, but I have trouble picking music too so I can't help you there much!

I'm not sure... I feel like it's something around 1932, but this was just a bonus on a DVD and it gives no information.

Paramount put out many short films in the "Hollywood On Parade" series. Not to be confused with the 1930 musical film revue "Paramount On Parade"
