  • But thats a replay, not a real gameplay. :S

  • @Neaniscuo You do understand replays use the same CPU/GPU requirements as the game itself would if it was real time? That's the purpose of this stress test video.

  • @aznguyen316 But the cpu nor the gpu doesnt calculate everything in realtime on a replay like in a game. sorry about my english, i dnnt know how to explain it, but i tell you, im right.

  • @Neaniscuo So you're telling me SC2 was programmed to know in REPLAYS what is going on ahead of time to calculate everything? From my experience in watching replays, they don't, otherwise you wouldn't have to fast forward and when you do fast forward you take a massive drop in Frame rate for it to calculate everything happening on the fly. The only thing you lose in a replay is possible INTERNET LAG.

  • @aznguyen316 Sorry bro, i dont speak english very well, i cant explain to you what i mean, but what you saaid is almost correct, you dont have the same fps on a replay.

  • @aznguyen316 He's not wrong. There is a bit of a difference. With replays, all of the commands are given and the Starcraft 2 replay system parses the replay file and starts calculating things ahead of time. With the actual gameplay, it has to do this on the fly so it does make a bit of a difference in frame rates.

With that said, it doesn't make enough of a difference to skew your results.

Good video. I'm still debating on whether or not to hold off until the Ivy Bridge MacBook Pro's come out.

  • What graphics do you think I can run on my 2.5 gigahertz 8gb ram MacBook pro?

  • It looks nice

  • DiRT 2! I Get insane lag from the mac app store version. All of my games lag unrealisitcly!

  • @MirageVids i would say no. thats very high temps. at those temps your comp wont last very long.

  • FPS?? how much? please answer...

  • lubbos fan control for controlling fans in windows.

  • @MirageVids yeah that's okay make sure you're playing on a flat surface to let the air vent out of the machine. If you can, manually control the fans and run them at max. 90C should be about as high as it goes 95C is pushing it.

  • Would this battle run significanly smoother (30+ fps) with everything set to low?

  • @bchreng yeah of course, i think it will go to 45-50 fps with all low settings in an intense battle, by intense i mean the 200/200 food vs 200/200 food battle. without any battle it would bum up to 60 -70 fps

  • whats wrong with the colors?

  • is that the fan in the background?

and if so does it annoy you and does the laptop heat up much?

  • @Lennon9595 yeah that's the fan. It doesn't annoy me, but I can hear it... I play with headphones. and laptop heats up, of course all will but it's not bad. Just don't set it on your lap lol and use a notebook cooler for better heat dissipation.

  • if u have a HDD or and SDD will it run the same?

  • @whitestallion1995 no not rly the ram will affect preformance but whether its ssd or hd there will be no difference except in boot up time

  • I dunno if u care but here's a little secret I discovered about macbooks: their fans are slow at detecting excessive heat. If u control the fans urself, u can lower the heat and that increases framerates like nothing I've ever seen. But that was with my older, white macbook with a horrible graphics card.

  • I have your exact same laptop except with 8 gigs of DDR3... you think i can run crysis 2?

  • @PersianLord1995 no it won't run crysis 2 the 13" model, sorry.

  • @aznguyen316 damnnnn oh well

  • @PersianLord1995

It will run, but it will ride on the lower end of 20-30.

  • @JrvUnleashedMusic It's playable then good enough... is that maxed out?

  • @PersianLord1995 Lord no. That's as with the settings as low as they go. Go check out some gameplay, there are videos of people playing it.

  • @JrvUnleashedMusic So the HD 3000 isn't as bad as everyone is saying

  • Comment removed

  • @PersianLord1995 Oh it's pretty horrible. Completely inexcusable in a laptop that costs 1200, especially considering the fact that a windows laptop at the same price will eat Crysis 2 for breakfast at 60fps on the highest settings. If it wasn't such a sexy laptop I would get a windows one in an instant...

  • Hey, how are your temps when running sc2?

  • @boon111 maybe around 86-88C

  • L2P you fucking scrub

    1v1's are all that matter

  • @supersmashbros011 keep telling yourself that because you don't have friends to play with. Plus this was a stress test, dick.

  • @supersmashbros011

    lol you fail..

  • My macbook pro 13" inch cant load starcraft 2. It says not enough memory.....I GOT IT YESTERDAY AND I ONLY LOADED WORD!!!!!!

  • Does the laptop heat up? After like couple of hours?

  • Alright you know what, screw a WIndows Laptop i'm gettin a Mac Book pro!!

  • @Spongebobgoofpants lol woot, if you wait maybe a few weeks they hopefully will start up their iPod touch promotion for back to school

  • I'm buying a Macbook pro soon. I'll probably buy the 15". My friend just bought one & it can handle the High graphic settings no problem. This game runs like shit on my current laptop even on Low graphic settings. It's mainly because of the graphics card & it even said it was outdated. I have a 17" HP Pavilion laptop that's just two years old & it slows down like mad even when there's just a small battle going on and I even need a cooling pad or else it will crash from overheating.

  • @rnorred86 Uh i don't think a cooling pad would be necessary cus like if you want a good one then its gonna be quite heavy. I recommend a dual fan cooling pad if your lap top is like 13 and up.

  • what is an ssd?

  • @electromagnetshit solid state drive.

  • @aznguyen316 and whats the diffrence between hdd and ssd?

  • is ur mac HDD or SSD??

  • im thinking of buying a 13" macbook pro but should i HDD or SSD?? SSD is fast but deteriorate over time HDD stays the same so plz help me out im looking for something that would last a while

  • @whitestallion1995 wats the difference between HDD or SSD??

  • @hangene92 they are faster and have no moving parts but they deteriorate over time,

HDD stay the same speed but they r not as fast as SSD.

  • @whitestallion1995 ssd's are still in the "evlution stage",meaning they suck for now.

Get a hdd cause they are fully dfeveloped

  • Hey, what do u thinks the best settings for a mbp 13" 2010 model? I'm considering getting a used model, so I was wondering, during battles like the thumbnail for this vid, do u think will it be like similar settings with ur new mbp? I heard the 320m is better than the hd3000, but the 2010 has a weaker proc... Will this run on same settings

  • @MrUltimateUnderdog I also have this same question.

  • my 2011 15" MBP plays in all high. =D

  • I play starcraft 2 on just a regular 2007 mac. The graphics are on low which I don't mind. But, the game suffers excruciatingly long load times, especially during campaign mode. (5-15mins.) This makes campaign mode almost unplayable because of the wait. Does the game loading and overall run much faster on this macbook?

  • @KuShxBassisT I have a similar laptop as in this video (2011 13" macbook pro, but the processor in this video is better than mine.) With an SSD the load times are really fast - like 5-10 seconds i guess.

  • Hi, nice vid. I bought a MBP 2011 13inch with an SSD, and am thinking about getting this game - never really played RTS games before, but they look fun.

Is the heat an issue? Is it bad for the laptop to have the temp at 90 for extended periods of time? Seems a little too hot...

  • @redsaint182 it's fun game, just get some friends to help show you the ropes so you don't get stomped. Heat is not an issue but it does get hot and fans will blare. It's not bad for the laptop to be at 90 for extended time, usually it'll cool down to 85 or so though after fans have been on awhile. If you can ignore the fan, play with some headphones you should be fine. If the temps got to like 95+ then I would be just a tad worried.

  • @aznguyen316 Thanks for the info. None of my friends play RTS games - is there a beginner option, to match me with other beginners?

  • @redsaint182 yeah if you want to play vs other people there are placement matches that will determine where you'll be placed, play 5 and then you'll be put into appropriate place to rank up or down. After that just play from there. You can play vs other people or just matchmake and team up against the computer opponents, whatever you want to do to learn. The campaign teaches you a lot too, and it's a ton of fun. You'll love it.

  • @aznguyen316 I just got sc2 :) It's a fun game, I'm awful at it though haha. I'm still a little worried about it heating to 88-93C. Idk, it just worries me - I've never had a laptop that gets that hot before.

  • @aznguyen316 hey, will a laptop with the same graphic card but an Core i5 2410m 2.3 GHz with turbo boost 2.9GHz run smoothly? thnks!!!

  • does the i7 really boost performance of sc2? i heard sc2 is more processor intensive, if i were to get the i5, would u think it will run smooth? on similar settings?

  • @MrUltimateUnderdog I'm sure the i7 helps a TINY BIT more than i5 but I'm betting you'll see very similar results with the i5, at least in OSX. Go for it!!

  • @aznguyen316 ok then. if i ply it on windows 7 in boot camp, will performance between i7 and i5 be similar too?

  • I am getting MBP 13 i7

Will it performs better playing in bootcamp? compare to OS X

  • Starcraft 2 i ♥ u ;D

  • thinking about getting MBP 13 inch im hurting on money so i was probably getting the i5 does any one know how much difference it will give in performance wise with this game also im new to SSD whats the advantage over a HDD is it worth it from what i hear they have less space or am i wrong? sorry for nub questions

  • @pacman451 i5 is good, no need for i7 if you cannot afford it. SSD is MAD fast for loading and stuff, doesn't help a whole lot in gaming except load screens and MMO which loads games on the fly but it's worth it if you can handle the smaller space. The MAIN advantage is that it's so much faster on loading applications, OS, stuff like that.

  • ok...the Intel 300 is SHIT...SPLURGE ON AT LEAST A MID RANGE VIDEO CARD AND GIVE US A FUCKING REAL REVIEW JESUS CHRIST

  • @MattRomeroMusic lol rage much? You got issues you need to see a therapist about? Underlying problems maybe with your mother? How she doesn't love you? Wanna talk about it? Do you have fantasies about her? Probably. It's okay. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. No, listen, it's not your fault. It's not your fauilt. It's NOT your fault. Okay maybe it is your fault. Sorry guy.

  • @aznguyen316 it's actually your fault for not giving us a review on a mid range card at the very least...no gamer will ever consider the Intel 3000 you worthless life

  • @MattRomeroMusic funny I guess 12,000 + ppl have and will consider the Intel HD 3000 which is why there is interest in this video. But if you want mid range or whatever, feel free to look at my other video. =) /watch?v=6W-v3EgTw1U

  • @MattRomeroMusic

I think you'll survive if someone has a laptop you don't like.

  • as opposed to?

  • @NigelAdeyemi to complaining about something that really matters.

  • @aznguyen316 you Asian?

  • @NigelAdeyemi yessir.

  • Stop selecting shit, it's a damn replay.

  • @NigelAdeyemi Stop being a tool, it's a damn youtube video.

  • i5 able to run the same?

  • @ichris87 yup should run similarly, maybe a few more dips in FPS but I doubt it. You should be fine.

  • @aznguyen316 Do you think I should upgrade 128GB SSD or 8GB RAM instead?

  • @ichris87 first and foremost definitely upgrade to 128GB SSD. I fully support SSD's and have been using them for over a year. Love them, it makes a WORLD of difference. Then later on get 8GB ram as they can be cheap. My 120GB Vertex 2 is amazing, love it.

  • Macbook Pro 2011, 13", i7, 2.7 Ghz, [quad core also known as sandy bridge?] or dual core?

  • @Lentrepeter this one is a DUAL core.

  • @aznguyen316 Ok, thanks. I just want to make sure because it says "(sandy bridge) at the beginning of the video. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Lentrepeter no problem, I should have clarified. It is a Sandy Bridge i7 though, just the only dual core i7. So fast.

  • How are the temps on this baby when playing SC2?

  • What's the average FPS?

  • I wanted to get the new macbook pros the 2011 verson.

Im really into gaming/HD movie editing/Photoshop.

should i go with the 13inch model or 15inch model for the highest/best performance? im only in college atm lol so i cant afford the 17inch verson.

  • @chiraag2000 oh i forgot add something, im pretty sure the 15inch is better. but do you think the 13inch is good enough or should just spend the extra money on the 15 inch?

  • so does hyper threading boost the gameplay?

  • wow that runs better then my 8600 GT and its only intel graphics.... SWEET

  • Does the i7 play games better than the i5? Thinking about investing in an ssd aswell... seems like one could always keep the stock and move the ssd to the new machine when need be!

  • Hey thanks for posting this video. Would you be able to tell me what the performance/FPS is like when running SC2 on lowest settings and playing a custom map with tons of units, like Marine Arena when everyone has like 300 marines?

  • and when there are massive armies fighting in view

  • Thx for video!!

  • wow thats damn impressive you can expose in and out like that... might reconsider getting one now

  • @tdreamgmail expose kicks ass.. beats the hell out of alt-tab lagggg

  • 8 pool

  • 13" i5 with ssd & applecare -> 3 years happy

15" without anything, upgrade ssd 1 year later, when warrenty goes away

for both case i can use 3 years(currently frosh)

i only play sc2 and wow, do some xcode, java stuff, web browsing, a little bit 3ds max flash and photoshop.

i'm in singapore, really hot. so maybe ssd is important for me?

  • can i play ultra settings in 13" i5 with ssd?

    high/medium?

  • @lhyx1990 No way in hell you can play Ultra with the Intel HD 3000 GPU, the card will play the game the best at Low settings but it can handle medium as well. With the small size you have to screw performance.

  • @yzak100 I would agree with you. I would say that if you wanted the perfect balance of frames vs visual quality, set shaders to medium, other settings to low/medium, and knock the resolution down to 1024x768. Those would probably be the ideal settings for this machine.

  • thanks for posting. i look forward to my i7 13" in the coming weeks. and feel confident my 1v1s wont have any issues if its running that 4v4

  • will this work on the i5 mbp?

  • @mattzokhi absolutely it should!

  • Can you run it in ultra?

  • @Brianoop sorry won't try. Going to say no way.

  • @Brianoop

It'll be getting too slow at medium and probably crawl at ultra.

  • i recommend you not to buy current macbook pro...... because next gen ivy bridge will definately have a stronger graphics from 12 cores to 24 cores double the performance!!!!! also ivy bridge will make quad core standard and six core extreme.... so expect macbook pro 13 with a quad core and double the graphics :)

  • @janicijevic23 you can have both, beacause we have to wait for one year for the next gen mbp, it is kind of long time to go:)

  • @janicijevic23 ok so jus keep waiting and and waiting and waiting....... and waiting and waiting... for next infinite gen super human dildo 12000 core futurebook pro 3000. jesus.

  • @janicijevic23

people say this every single time a new piece of technology comes out. wait for _____ because it's going to be double the AWESOME!!!! At some point you just have to pull the trigger and buy the damn thing. No fun waiting forever for the "next version."

  • Thanks for posting this! Have you tried playing in bootcamped windows? Any difference?

  • @cicerofluff have not tried in bootcamp, though I assume it will improve slightly. I don't need all the best graphics, as long as it runs smooth on medium shaders (b/c you won't go high on bootcamp) then it's good enough. Lets me log into SC2 without worry of rebooting.

  • Hmmmm,

pretty impressive right there O.O !

I thought the Intel's integrated GPU will suck (I had GMA 950 before which was worse than a piece of paper,) but it looks good.

9400m and 320m sit around 30fps while your i7 Intel HD 3000 was around 50fps.

I hope Intel will come out with better graphics for the next refresh.
