  • Everyone....Pat is the best! Enough said xD

  • @horselover8715 yes he is look at my latest video and read discription I used to do it to my horse

  • @horselover8715 look at my video Beauty bare back and bittles and look at the discription and read all of it pls it will help

  • @horselover8715 You go girl!!

  • I heard Parelli is shit, this true?

  • i wish it was less expensive:(

i want to learn what he can teach me, but i can't afford it

  • That is great I wish I could do that with my horses

  • is parelli just games for your horses???? anyone know how to explain it

  • @AppaLoosa25 Yep! Games no maer WHAT horsenality stimulate and engage no just the body but the horses brain! This makes hem more willing, calmer and physically, mentally and emoionally ready for ANY task! you should try it! It's working WONDERS in getting my horse motivated without kicking or getting frustrated!

  • @miazhorsecrazy oh k kool i might try it

  • okay, Parelli has some good techniques... but i don't get why you NEED to use a rope halter, 15 feet of rope, and a carrot stick for ground work. i realize the whip is an extention of your arm... but what about the other stuff? i've riden "tradtionally" for 7 years and have never had to use anything to 'get' my horses to follow me or play or whatever. it seems that they would be more focused at what you're twirling in their face than what they would be on you.

  • @ranix721 Rope halters are light but hard to lean on so therefore they give you better control of the horse than a nylon web halter. The rope lengths of 12 feet, 22 feet and 45 feet used in the program are the distances at which horses seem to want to make the descision of wether they want to stay or go. It's of psychological signifigance to the horse.

  • I personally wanted to try parelli, unfortunatley, i ant afford it and will stick to the methods i use now which work... however, i was extremly dis-heartened when i heard about the parellis spending two hours hobbling then tying a stallions head to the hobble... at one of their demos with paying people watching.... what kind of natural horsemanship is that?? restricting and tying a horse to its own legs... and two hours of a waste... it didnt even work!

  • @myponiesrule123 Yeah I saw that video but you were misinformed. It did work, the horse now bridles very easily and performs well in shows, has no fear of humans and won't end up in a can of dog chow because it's too dangerous to bridle.

  • @myponiesrule123 Yeah I saw that video but you were misinformed. It did work, the horse now bridles very easily and performs well in shows, has no fear of humans and won't end up in a can of dog chow because it's too dangerous to bridle. Pat didn't corner that horse and beat the crap out of it. That horse had every option to just be still and nothing would have happened to it even though it was tied. The only being that horse fought was itself .

  • Haha, did yall know that Mr. Parelli started out as a bronc rider, and worked in a slaughter house!

  • I'd like parelli because it's better for a good realation ship about you and the horse.

  • K what is the point of this, I can run circles around one of my horses and put my arm on its neck and I DO NOT use any parelli methods, he just has a gift for gab and could prob talk a squirl out of an acorn tree, thats how he makes people believe him.

  • y r u so negative about parelli?

  • Because he is just a guntzel who happens to convince a lot of people who just own a horse to own one. I'm so glad that he showed me that I can get around a big green ball, that way when I'm working cows and there is a huge ball in the way I know that I can get around it and get on with my day. pretty much everything he shows you is pointless and you are never going to use unless you are just owning a horse to own one.

  • @mscanchaser1 HAHAHA! So funny cause it's true!

  • He tells everyone you need a "special" bond with a horse to do all these things, you do not I know a lot of people who own great horses and they dont do parellies seven games to get there, lol and have you ever seen any of parelli's horses do anything great, nope so great spinning, stoping, but they sure can climb up on stuff, you can bounce a ball on them and they can jump a bench, haha all useless stuff I just want my horse to do.

  • @mscanchaser1 ya i no but i think its kewl that they can do it lol u dnt have to do pareeli to do that lol i agree!!

  • question was he trying to kill the horse by having it jump that bench because if the horse had hit that he probably would've succeeded

  • @NabiIndaMoonlite

im sorry but i really dont think that the horse is going to die from hitting a bench. its not retarded! it seems to clear it with ease anyways so why are you complaining?

  • @NabiIndaMoonlite

So many people complaining about the safety of the picnic table. Do you guys have any idea what cross country jumps are like? There's an entire sport devoted to jumping far more dangerous and fixed objects. The picnic table is nothing.

  • I do not get the point of this at all.

  • I like what he does and everything but that bench seemed a dangerous choice of liberty jump for the horse.....

  • and the licking and low head during lunging does NOT mean the horse has given up and it wants you to kill it, my friend lunges her horse every second day and he does the same things and she does NOT thrash him until he is almost dead. at the end of the session he happily comes to her to receive a pat and a carrot, he is not tired nor does he hate being lunged.

  • whats the point of this???? to chase some horse around and make it jump a bench, which is extremely dangerous might i add

  • the point of this is to prove that with the right amount of time and patience and care the relationship between a human and a horse can be a powerful and wonderful thing. casper trusts pat 100% and pat would never do anything to put the horse in danger, if the horse felt it was in danger, it wouldnt do it. i think what pat does is wonderful, my friend has been doing parelli with her horse for 10 years now and the things she can do with him are truly amazing and unbelievable to watch.

  • @beccah7101

Pat wants to show people that we can have a relationship with horses.

And how you can train horses without using violence and whips. and hes doing a pretty good job of it!

  • Parelli didn't even train Magic. Phillip Nye did.

  • this is so cool and the horses are gorgeous.

  • yeah thats waht i mean!! ur horse loves and trusts u and thats why he wil keep going even without a rope.. but its when people have like whipps and their horses are trying to escape from them is what i dont like..

  • Why the hell is Youtube filled to the brim with idiotic horse lovers who think they know more than they do presently?

Oh THAT'S right! It's Fuckin YOURUBE!

  • i saw pat parelli!!!

  • okay not tryin to be mean or nufink nd i dont want to spark up an argu but parelli is NOT crap. horses dont understand punishment. they just respond with fear. when u lunge ur horse U are forcing it to be with u. its not chosing for itself!! and also stallions have a natural instinct to be herd leaders so its not fair to say they have no manners. Parelli is proven and it makes ur relationship with ur horse AMAZING! maybe u should try it?

  • Actually... When I lunge my horse, Im not forcing him to be with me, because I took the rope away and carried on as usual and he kept going round me on the same size circle as he was on WITH the rope.

  • A lot of NH people do the equivalent of lunging, sometimes on a very short rope or work in round pens where the horse cannot get away from them - so not sure why they bang on about the horse having free will. To me particularily Parelli seem to apply so much psycological pressure and completely dominate the horse they supress its nautral instincts and turn the horse into a zombie. And then they say they are the horses friend!

  • but i dont want to get into an argument over something as silly as lunging! lol

i understand you have an opinion and respect that and i guess we all think different things lol

  • YES! Someone speaks sense. JOIN UP is not that at all. The horse is chased and chased round the pen until they loose the will to live, the licking and chewing is a sign of submission, the horse is saying "I give up, please do anything to me"

There is a possibility that the horse will go into a state of frozen watchfullness aswell. Not a good training method IMHO

  • @xxabbsmxx It is a mare that leads a herd not a stallion - the stallion has a job of protecting the herd. Not many domesticated horses live in a herd anyway - so not sure how that the theory applies to horses domesticated for 100s of years as they will have had certain characteristics bred into/out of them. All horse training involves the horses 'fear' response often in NH referred to as applying 'pressure'.

  • atually horses DO live in herd groups even demesticated ones,, they have something called a pecking order,,stallions are there to protect the mares and often do have an alpha mare but they are the ones that are the bosses! PNH does exactly the same as any old horswe in the wild would do to another,, and in parelli you dont "lunge" in the same way as classical lunging is done,,,thats all about building up mucle + topline and not about becoming a herd leader.

  • You are wrong about stallions - look it up. Lunging to me is about establishing a relationship/dominance, setting up channels of communication, being consistent and rewarding when the horse does what you want and it gives the physical benefits you mention. Once the ground rules are in place then you can do the same loose schooling. I am glad you are at least not trying to sell PNH as it making you your horses friend and the horse doing 'tricks' of their own free will.

  • You are right about the mare leading the herd, but they can live in herds in domesticated horses, they do with horses I know. They are small herds like 3 or 4 horses that share a field, if you know what i mean :)

  • Well all of this has made me start researching a bit more and from what I can see in the horse world there is a distinction between domination and leadership. With middle ranking 'trusted' horses often leading action. So the lead horse might not be the most dominant. Also that dominance relationships can change depending on the situation eg a horse can have dominance over food but not over water. If anyone can point me in the direction of good sources of info please do.

  • i just say it: WOW!!!!

  • WOW! Pat Parelli is truly amasing, i am learning up on all his skills and think it is great!

  • very cool =]

  • I give up.

  • well it is a demonstration. if they were just cantering round in circles it wouldn't be a very good demonstration would it? take the metropolitan police for example, they do more dangerous things in their demonstrations; they jump through rings of fire.

p.s. I don't want to turn this into an argument, i'm just pointing this out

  • Fire will not jump onto a horse from a felt ring soaked in gasoline. It prefers the gasoline much more than hair and flesh. Also, between burns and broken legs, one of those is a little more fixable. Not as if it matters. The folly of another group does not exonerate Parelli from his unwise decision. And as for demonstrating, I think a vertical or oxer with fillers and flowers would have done just as good a job demonstrating the horse's willingness to obey and would have been a lot safer too.

  • I dought the horse would trip. Pat Parelli is an expirenced horseperson so if he felt the horse would not be able to jump the obstacle then he would have it jump something smaller, he wouldn't over-challenge the horse. Any horse can trip over a jump, look at steeplechase horses!!! horses always fall in a steeplechase.

  • Yes, but it wouldn't grab anyone's attention. Oooh, a standard. Ooh, a horse jumping the standard. I'd rather see a horse jumping a picnic table. :P

Anyway, why can't you just appreciate how amazingly well trained his horses are?

  • I met Pat at Equitana 08. Got a nice photo :P

The oly thing i dont like is that he takes all the credit for training Magic. He didn't. Magic was trained my Philip Nye. Not pat parelli.

  • My mom works for Pat,

He may not have trained Magic, but he trained Casper. Casper was an extremely hard horse to train. Yeah Philip Nye rode one of my horses for the first time ond got his level 4. Her name was Nikki, he was galloping, doing flying lead changes, bareback and bridless (Liberty) outside of any pen. He's a great rider, well, they both are :)

  • this is a great video you have of magic and casper and Pat!!! they are amazing i can not wait till i have a great relationship like that with my horse!!! :-)

  • You don't need to do that to get a good relationship with your horse. I taught my horse to do that by just showing her that I'm the lead mare and that she has to listen to me when I'm around. You know how you do that? lunging and making them go where you wasnt, not letting them do what they want.

  • Good for you Zeldy...only 14 and know more than the "sheeple"...followers and don't even know who their following...so I shall can them "sheeple"...lol

  • Sheep.. I have some of those... They don't know who they follow and they really don't care as long as they get food. Unlike horses... Becase horses have a leader, and they have a pecking order... With sheep... If one panicks then they all panic. With horses, occasionally yeah, they panic... Most of the time, they jsut sit there looking at the one who panicked probably thinking "What's their problem?"

  • wel thats just how u have a bad relationship with your horse, i am not going to argue cuz everyone is entitled to do there own oppinion and you have got the whole program wrong u need to accually know more about the program before you start saying stuff please.

  • I already SAID I have a good relationship with my horse. I didn't use any clinician for it either, I used my mother, and she's never been wrong about horses before. And I also know about almost every problem you could find in a horse because my grandmother is a vet.

  • well vets dont know everything about their "horseanalitys" & the way they play out in the pasture unless she is like pat parelli & studied them just in the pasture for years (& did not study them in books) & AGAIN i say i dont want to argue & every one is entitled to their OWN opinion so i am not sayin u are wrong in any way because i dont kno u or ur horse so i mean u could have a great relationship i am just sayin what i beleive in & i beleve that the parelli program is the right way to go:-)

  • When your vet is your grandmother and she happens to be a Khemosabi freak and a Bask freak and you happen to have 40 horses, I think you get a pretty good amount of "horseanality" whatever it is, I hope it's not something PP made up.. But yeah, horses do have their own personalities. my horse loves me, I'm not wrong on that, but she's not the pony that will come rushing to you, no, you have to get her her cookies first, and then she'll surrender her body and mind to you.

  • Wouldn't it be nice if your horse actually "wanted" to go where you wanted to go, instead of you "making" them go where you want?

  • Who says I MAKE her?! Look who's talking miss "I can't help but fire back at someone and say something really STUPID"

  • parelli isnt that cool i went to one of his shows and he whipped a guys horse like a maniac ! i was sitting in the back row and i could hear it like it was right next to me!!!!!!!!! the poor horse had whip marks after the show and its owner didnt look to happy about his horse gettin whipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i belive that that is a lie because pat parelli never ever "hits" a horse. u know its a lot better then lunging. lunging is just mindless circle and it is so boring for the horse!

  • i ment that his whole program is way better then the regular training ang lunging and The parelli program is amazing and againi say i have never seen him hit a horse!!!

  • Gobshite i mean he is just making money and that is all he cares of

  • making money is not what he cares about, he does this to charge the horse world it self i am posotive that he would still do this program even if he did not make any money.

  • I SO agree with you ZeldyZeZebra!!!!! All of the money and marketing when to his head!!!!

  • Ok, it freaks me out when they jump over the picnic tables. His horses are amazing athletes, but it still freaks me out. I am really liking the direction that eventing is going with forgiving jumps/collapsable jumps. I love PNH, it is one of my favorite forms of NH, but jumping over picnic tables is not something I could ask my horse to do (even if I knew she could).

  • I saw pat and Linda at Equitana...AMAZING! And I got to meet him! It was incredible! WOOOO! PARWLLI!

  • *WOW* That Must Have Been Amazing! I am SO jealous!!

  • Yea it was great :P Got a signed hat too! Personally...i think Guy Mclean is more entertaining, but the Parelli's are incredible as well!

  • this man's a joke in the horse world as a whole people. I can't stand city ppl coming to the country and buying a horse they have no idea how to control

  • Horses aren't introverted. Parelli used to be a really good trainer, but I think all of that money and marketing went to his head.

  • finally got what I was looking for......this is the most honest answer to the whole topic

  • I'm really not sure why people look to Pat Parelli. Oh that's right... They're all clueless city slickers. And Linda Parelli? She's nuts! I don't like Parelli and I don't like the way Clinton Anderson teaches people how to post and how he overflexs the horse's necks. I have a really nice poy mare, but even the slightest turn of her head, and she goes and turns around in a complete circle. Chris Cox though, he actually gets it. Riding is riding whether it's english or western.

  • Agreed...Cox is about the only one with it going on. I just never have had a need for a carrot stick considering I own horses and don't have any mules to plow a field with. I've never seen a need for a horse to bring me back a big ole ball either. I thought that's why people had dogs...guess I was wrong :)

  • I wouldn't think a horse would have to bring a ball back to me either. I've got a cat that plays fetch, which is odd enough as it is. All I could want is that my Quarter Pony knows I'm the leader and I have control over the five parts. Which I can't remember all of them right now... I'm glad that Cox is going to be in Copperopolis next month, finally close enough I may get to go and see him in person.

  • i wish that people would stop bashing on the program unless they accually knew what they where talking about!!!

  • Honey, I do know what I'm talking about and if you want anyone to take you seriously then don't come on here and talk to yourself. There are about 10 posts and you only talking to yourself. I've been in the horse business longer than you've been alive probably.

Having said that, I posted on this .....what 2 months ago.....your just as nuts as Pat himself

  • I'm only 14 and I happen to know very well that horses aren't introverted or extroverted. I hate that crap. What really gets your horse to listen to you is a good ole lunging session or even better, riding the horse. Or if it's just the obnoxious kind of horse that doesn't respond unless you beat him half to death.(those would be the obnoxious stallions everybody spoils because "They're soo gorgeous!" Those dudes may be gorgeous, but they tend to leave the manners on the table)

  • do you accually know them personally...um NO APPARENTLY NOT BECAUSE ALL OF THIS STUFF YOU SAID IS NOT TRUE!!! and the people that do this program are not "clueless city slickers"!!! the people that do this program, like me, want a better relationship with there horse, other than the people who do not do this program and think that they have a great relationship with there horse which they most likely dont unless u do some other sort of natural horsemanship!!!

  • you have not seen my horse, my horse is very introverted and if you say that horses arnt introverted then you must not know the meaning of the word, and i wish that every one would STOP BASHING ON THE PARELLI PROGRAM untill they know the truth.

  • Honey, I'm sure you don't even know what introverted means. In that case, you must need a new dictionary so you can look it up. Horses aren't introverted or extroverted. PEOPLE are. Horses are reactive creatures. Horses are herd animals that need a leader. If you want to think that Parelli is the "best" fine, but don't come crying to me and 74011cwby when you learn that horses aren't freakin' intoverted or extroverted. Because guess what? We told you so.

  • Parelli is great and yes parelli people do ride in bits, but it is recomended for the higher levels and is used for refinement not control. It is not the only way, but Pareli does off a fantastic student program where people can acheive real results.. where else can u find that? Their home study program is one of a kind.

  • PEOPLE GET A LIFE PAT PARELLI IS NOT THAT GREAT!!!!! Yes he is a very skilled horseman that his horses obviously trust but be reasonable why by special equipment and only practice parelli techniques so you can "build trust" when you can do that on your own there is more than one way to train a horse and still be humane about it. Sometimes parelli stuff can be fun to do with your horse but its not a way of life.

  • ok if this is parelli then how can he be riding with a bit? this not truly parelli@!!!

  • ???

  • even the greatest of riders use bits, the point of the matter is that he is on a mare and the one that is loose is the stallion, so get a fucking life

  • you should be able to ride any horse around a stallion if you show him..most racehorses, dressage, jumpers..etc.. are not gelded so they can breed them either at their peak or at retirement.. any nice stallion can be ridden around mares...there is no point to your comment..

  • read what the person above said, and youll get it.

  • I agree, i've seen TONS of stallions in the competition ring behaving very civilized around mares. Whats the big deal about this one? Its just all about teaching manners, Pat didn't really do anything special. But I think hes a quak, thats just my opinion

  • My actual favorite is when they ride with a halter and lead rope and its tied on both sides of the halter and then they say its the parelli way.. have they not heard of a hackmore? People get real Indians rode without bridals. Cutting horses can go without a bridal. Its all in the training and your leg work...

  • They also mention they never invented any of this. It's so old its new again. They refer to those Native Americans that did this naturally.

  • The point is that horses that show have stallions and mares together. They dont get the big clap and applause when you have a stallion in a race gate and the mare next to it is in heat and they still do their job... Its done all the time.. No big deal..

  • My mare would probally tease them.... She's like that, I AFFECTINALLY "call her my lil slut"

cause she jumped out of are pasture, and went and stood out side my neigbors stallys stall. *thank god he couldn't get out, and was well trained

  • Parelli is great!!!

    Good video!!

  • The Parelli -"Way More than Riding" - USA Tour will be at the Alliant Energy Center (1919 Alliant Energy Center Way) in Madison, July 12-13. • haha ;)

  • this should be taken off of you tube.. due to the respect of the Parelli's sign at any convention that says NO VIDEO TAPING!...

  • where was this at??

  • i love parelli its given me a whole new way of looking at ways to train my horse.

  • i love Pat Parelli. he's really good with horses.

  • no, monty roberts does something called "join up" thats when u make a bond with your horse without touching them to start of with then you start introducing the saddle, bridle.Parelli is where you Lack a bond with your horse or your horse gets bored easily and parelli make this "challenging" which is better 4 the horse. We do parelli with 2 horses and they love it because its different. And if you havent noticed monty mainly does Wild horses and the parelli pair do horses with a Wild Side !!! xxx

  • why is everyone so against parelli?

im sorry did i miss somthing in the horse world? do people nowa days want to not have a bond with there horse not see the world through there eyes and be a predator with no trust?

ok sorry i guess i missed alot of things

  • Wow, Pat Parelli - what a fake. Have you ever heard of Monty Roberts? The TRUE horseman? Monty was the first person to really discover how to communicate with horses...not this phoney stuff either. Real stuff. He tamed a wild mustang IN the wild in just like 3 days. Using join up, a very natural and powerful thing. Maybe you should go look him up. All the horses I know that have had Parelli training are now pretty much screwed up too.

  • ooo realy why what wrong with them am not having a go i just wont to no

  • wtf ur full of it if u had even a half a brian u would no that parelli is a GREAT NH

and knows well more than u im sure that Monty Roberts is a great horse man 2 but dont put down parelli cuase u can never in ur damn dreams do what he does (have a nice day)

  • um the funny thing is, I can do half the crap in his videos without spending hundreds of dollars on orange whips ...or sorry Carrot sticks and dvds. I'm all for the bond between horse and human, but I think Pat Parelli's training is a total scam

  • well thats great 4 u and the carret stick isnt that much and trianing is a whole lot easyer with it i never bought a CD from him partly bacause i have a parelli instructer down my street hows soo awsome the dvd r 4 people how dont have easy access to 1 parelli help u get a unbreakable bond with ur horse and not just make ur horse do somthing but have the horse 2 want to do it

  • Pat Parelli is no scam. If you think you can do what he has done, prove it! I have been behind the scenes with Pat & Linda and there is no scam. They practice what they preach.

  • dirgemasta it is NO WHERE NEAR a scam, i know someone and before they did parelli, THERE horse had been beaten and he was terrified, so she bought him and after 1 year he has loved humans and is at stage 4 of parelli i think so there dirgemasta eat that!!!

  • I think theyre both good but Pats more open about what hes doing with the horse and why- monty takes short cuts and copies pat. xxxx

  • Monty Roberts is a good horseman too, but not the "first person to discover how to communicate with horses", sorry but you're way off base there. Man has been communicating with horses since they evolved. I'm extremely happy that these people are teaching us what they know so that we can pass it on to others one day. For the good of the horse...

  • look horsemanship is a bond of human trust with horses trust, and if you don't appreciate it, then that's your problem. in my opinion horse whispering helps the horses.

  • oh no its parelli, hes jesus and is the most genius man alive!!! lol jk

  • well same with cross country they jump over biger picnic tables and jumps that dont come down .........ya its dangerous but it doesnt stop people from doin it and the horse made it

  • But which one is designed for horses?

  • wtf its the same thing .....dont u watch crass country pat would never do anything to hurt the horse and i think he knows more than both of us

  • Cross country jumps are designed for saftey.

  • nuthing is really safe about it if the horse doent jump high anough its down not the jump im just saying anything u do with horses can be dangerous

  • I've had dinner with Pat and his wife. I think he's brilliant. Sometimes you may have to tweak something to make it work with your horse, but overall the concepts are wonderful. Some people are just jealous.

  • Wat??! you had dinner with them???? omg. then wat did you eat? was it at his house or something?

  • Yeah, my aunt's trainer is a big wig and we all rode in an expo together in Louisville. It was like an after party. I was too star struck to remember what he ate, but I do remember it was all over his mustache. haha And he's very quiet in person, his wife did most of the talking. :)

  • i really dont like parelli, MOST horses get so bored with his training.

  • i went 2 see parelli in 2007! it was amazing! an i loved magic an casper! they were so cute lol

  • parelli the best there is.

  • DUDE AT WAS AT THAT ONE!!! lol

  • LOL

i was at the Ag. center for that!

    parelli is AWESOME!

  • why do u hate Parelli?

    He rocks!

    Stupid

  • i'm with u

  • i love pat parellis casper i have his breyer model!

  • wow! he's amazing!

  • Oh well...

  • that's some strong koolaid right there

  • It's amazing, but who is singing in the begin ?? is that you?? That person has an great voice ;)...:D

  • he is amazing, It makes me cry every time...and to think that not only is he doing those awesome things, but hes doing it riding Magic who is a mare, and working with Casper who is a stallion! LOVE PARELLI!!!

  • Does anybody know what that song is called? (:

  • Its "My Confession" by Josh Groban

  • casper is so gorgeous and so is the breyer of him

  • i love the parelli traning...and the live tours are so cool.!!!!

  • Oh I was SO there! I'm in the front row in the center block of chairs, all you can see really is my hair, which is very blond and long. Gorgeous demo eh? I've seen those 3 do better though.

  • I mean I "saw" this live not "say" :o)

  • I say this live. It was so awesome. I cried because it was so beautiful.

  • i love parelli.
