Nice version. This was written at the church where i was a chorister ( St Peter and St Leonards Horbury) by Sabine Baring Gould who was a curate there
This was my absolute favorite song when I was a kid. I can still play this on the clarinet and the piano ^^. I love this choir, sound like an all man choir though, reply if you disagree, but dont chew me out please ^^ With much thanks to God and to you~Littlebigguy
Naw, never going to chew anyone out. This song has sustained the strains of time and yes, is many people's favorite song. I like it sung with a group, the larger the better.
Hello Christopher! My husband and I, both musicians, are great fans of Libera! You are such a talented group - a genuine gift from God! Keep singing!!
@Nonie46 Not really. It dates to the 19th century, some 400 years after Luther. In fact, it's the anthem of the Salavtion Army. I'm a Lutheran myself, and this is one of my favorite hymns, but you messed up on a little historical fact.
Dad wanted this played at his wedding......Mum was having none of it! I wanted it played at his funeral....It wasn't allowed. Dad this is for you....... Love you foreverXXXXXX
We used to sing this back when I was in grade school, late 70's-early 80's. Man I miss singing classics like this one; my church just has us sing along with the youth pastor's 'originals', and nothing has ever been terribly classic.
Well i have to say, i am mormon. I absolutly love this song even though it isn't even really a mormon song, I LOVE HOW PEACEFUL AND HAPPY ALL THE KIDS LOOK WHEN THEY SING....GOD BLESS YOU ALL
i love this hymn because i knew it in church and i was also in cadets and at the ceremonys such as battle of the atlantic and rememberance day ceremonys they sang it
Very good, but for me, it would be better without the drumbeat.

this hymn have nothing to do with the european papal
"crusades" , because our fight is an spiritual one- we do not kill people- we kills the fortress of badness using faith and love, with God's Power.

My favorite rendition of this great hymn. Well done to all concerned. Here is a scripture that goes well with this hymn:
"For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me."

I really like the hymn.
Except for the percussion (it needs a little work) I love the arrangement.
Better yet, the hymn was originally written for boys, so it being sung by a boy's choir is particularly appropriate.
