He's 40 now, and working hard to make sure we have a better future than he did. And hell, I'm even going to college. I'm illegal, 3.9GPA, and going to college. Once I get my residency I will be a productive member of society. I am not a burden because I pay for everything I do, no one charges for my education, so unfortunately I cant pay for that.

I honestly think Americans should learn from the work ethics of foreigners, illegal or legal, but the law remains the law, and nobody should be above the law. We need to take care of our own first before even considering taking care of foreign nationals, especially with the current economic situation.

He finished highschool with a 3.7GPA, but college was too expensive for him, so that's why he wanted to come here in the first place, higher income, and cheaper college. If you read the, for example, mexican side of the story, and not the american side, you would know why they can't come here legally.... it's a different story for eastern countries.
@OverUniverse I've seen sources that say Mexicans alone account for 1/5 of all legal immigrants, but undoubtedly, more legal immigrants come from Mexico than any other country in the world (over 2x the next country, which is India). That's not counting hispanics from other countries.
However, I do believe the status of the country as first world or third world countries does play a factor in immigration to the US, as does the country's education system, which in the East's case, is pretty good.
@OverUniverse Most Americans don't hate anchor babies, they just don't want to pay for them. It just means less tax money going to benefit the children of American citizens. Plus, it makes it more of an issue to deport their parents, hence "ANCHOR baby".

@OverUniverse My parents came legally. They were by no means even close to wealthy. They came on student visas from Hong Kong, and paid their own ways through college. They got no financial support from their parents, as they couldn't afford to. Still, my parents got citizenship. It's not impossible, although it is harder for the poor. Coming illegally is still illegal, is it not?

I got some English friends (From england) that said it took them only 1 year to get accepted and come to this country legally, I told them how my dad waited 14 years, and kept getting denied, its a huge difference there.

Does it matter? The parents shouldn't even be in the country to start with. How about we just bar illegals from every job, even as day laborers, and cut off every government entitlement they collect for a dependent? Problem solved, no job, no food, no money, NO ILLEGALS. @OverUniverse Unhuman and uncalled for? It is ALREADY against federal law to hire illegals, now we just need to ENFORCE the law. Illegals can't receive government entitlements UNLESS they plop out children and claim entitlements with the minors' names. Seems like a pretty big loophole don't you think? Well, for one, they strain the already deteriorating public education system further. Secondly, having anchor babies allows illegals to claim government benefits which costs TAX MONEY.

@Cosmo1093 What makes you think illegals don't pay taxes? In California you can use your tax number to get your license instead of a SSN. That is how my dad got his. They don't use any tax money from the country, and they don't ask for free stuff. I'm sure that not all of it is illegals, it also comes from poor legals, and poor people born here. Besides, if the poor family asks for the help, it means they're poor, and why will a country deny it to a kid born here? Hes one of them for god's take!

@OverUniverse I'm not saying they don't pay taxes. I'm saying they don't pay as much as they take. Guess what? It costs tax money to educate illegals and anchor babies. It costs tax money to pay for their healthcare which they clearly can't afford. Hell, we even pay higher costs so hospitals can recoup the loss! It costs tax money to incarcerate foreign nationals which account for 30% of inmates. It costs tax money to pay for entitlements claimed with the anchor babies' names.

I'll support taking care of anchor babies, once we kick all illegals out and manage to keep them out. Then we wouldnt have any new anchor babies to take care of. @Cosmo1093 How else are they supposed to come in? My dad has been trying since he was 16 to get in. Since he comes from a poor family he was denied. He's 40 now, and working hard to make sure we have a better future than he did. And hell, I'm even going to college. I'm illegal, 3.9GPA, and going to college. Once I get my residency I will be a productive member of society. I am not a burden because I pay for everything I do, no one charges for my education, so unfortunately I cant pay for that.

@OverUniverse Through legal channels, as my parents did. My parents were poor too, but they still came legally from Hong Kong on student visas, working their own ways through college. I honestly think Americans should learn from the work ethics of foreigners, illegal or legal, but the law remains the law, and nobody should be above the law. We need to take care of our own first before even considering taking care of foreign nationals, especially with the current economic situation.

He finished highschool with a 3.7GPA, but college was too expensive for him, so that's why he wanted to come here in the first place, higher income, and cheaper college. If you read the, for example, mexican side of the story, and not the american side, you would know why they can't come here legally.... it's a different story for eastern countries.

@OverUniverse I've seen sources that say Mexicans alone account for 1/5 of all legal immigrants, but undoubtedly, more legal immigrants come from Mexico than any other country in the world (over 2x the next country, which is India). That's not counting hispanics from other countries.
However, I do believe the status of the country as first world or third world countries does play a factor in immigration to the US, as does the country's education system, which in the East's case, is pretty good.

Just to let you know, any child born to a Mexican citizen, regardless of location, automatically becomes a Mexican citizen. We're basically granting dual citizenship to some anchor babies. Birthplace does not matter, the method in which they get here.
And if we make the 14th Amendment more specific, barring the children of illegals, we wouldn't have to spend money to take care of them.

I said to deport their parents who are illegally in this country. I'm actually opposed to stripping citizenship from those already born here, but I just think we need to stop granting citizenship to MORE anchor babies. If we kick illegals out, problem solved. More anchor babies will simply add to the national deficit and individual state debt.

@OverUniverse My parents came legally. They were by no means even close to wealthy. They came on student visas from Hong Kong, and paid their own ways through college. They got no financial support from their parents, as they couldn't afford to. Still, my parents got citizenship. It's not impossible, although it is harder for the poor. Coming illegally is still illegal, is it not?

I got some English friends (From england) that said it took them only 1 year to get accepted and come to this country legally, I told them how my dad waited 14 years, and kept getting denied, its a huge difference there.
