And no, there is no legitimate power of martial law given to the government in the constitution, "martial law" itself implies a suspending of the constitution in order for unrestrained military rule. where do you folks see MARTIAL LAW? A curfew is hardly martial law. There were no troops, other than local law enforcement and sherrif's dep., and state troopers.; no illegal searches, no involvement of military at all.
I agree 4 homicides in 8 days is hardly a call for "state of emergency" in my opinion, no matter how sad it may be that one was a child.

really i grew up in east newyork brooklyn there were at least 3 murders every day and it never came to martial law this does not make sence to me. don't get me wrong i think we should do every thing in our power to stop crime but martial law should be a last resort since it infringes on our civil libertis

It is their right and responsibility to protect their homes, property, and families. They call it freedom folks, its not always easy and must be claimed by every generation. We're heading down a steep path similar to every single one of the events in history when Martial Law and Tyranny has taken over the countries it was infesting. @Takiado Can you tell me when/where and under what circumstances martial law was imposed upon America? There was the internment of Japanese civilians during ww2 but since then we have learned. This whole war on terror didnt lead to muslim americans being rounded up. (got some random security checks at airports) but that was about the extent of it. Patriot act would be a good example but they haven't taken our guns, they haven't taken anyone in for thought crimes. When or does this paranoia end?

This is a perfect example of the failure of government aid and social programs. Now that budgets and aid is running out, these savages are doing what they instinctively know how to do. The victims are the civilized folk in their community who get caught in the crossfire or the ones who happenstance to get murdered, raped or robbed in their path.
