It is common in the military to say "sir" to both sex-superior officers, if I'm not mistaken.

@LtSurge659 In some fictional military forces, the term is "sir" for females as well. In the USAF, at least, it is still "sir/ma'am."

"I'm going to kill them all, sir" - Just don't try to tick them off as he goes... "seventeen" is apparently army code for "plenty" or something, because he just keeps killing them all - long after seventeen have fallen ;-)
