One of the mascots for the 2000 Olympics, in Australia, was the kookaburra. This bird sounds like a laughing human and represents the air over Australia.
Isn't just an honour-like feeling to be accepted by a wild animal! He must have had contact with humans before to allow you to get so close. Gorgeous bird!
And I have the sneaking feeling that he might have thought he was following the money (well in bird terms). Maybe one early bird that felt a little let down.

He almost looks like an ornament. I LOVE blue winged kookaburra's, they're so beautiful.

How lucky you are to have cockatoo's and kookaurra flying free. We only see them in bird gardens here.

@Twosharppencils We have some real ugly animals here in oz... Kookies are just about as areo dynamic as a brick.

i was in the park in Wiley Park syd of all places and these was one singing in the tree there...i couldnt believe it...must have been lost!

i love that cute little kookaburra!i recently moved to Townsville and haven't seen any there yet :( i did see one in Sydney last weekend though.
