Personally he took me from blahh to ..ahhhhhhhhh...gasp! Here in the states- especially at that time- we didnt have very many guitar 'heroes' besides our blues guys. REAL american music. Bloomfield blew it all out of the box. But reminded us ( even in his interviews) that we should not forget the original fellas and where our most precious music comes from. Love ya Mike xx God bless ♥
@nogov4us Would you consider doing a recollection of Mike for the website mikebloomfieldamericanmusic, nogov4us? You can reach me at the email address listed there. Thanks!
WOW! Thank-you for the excellent video. Michael was absolutely one of the best there's ever been on guitar and it's wonderful that the younger generation will get a chance to experience his music and story.
@PlAyInSomeBluez That tune is a blues called "Fat Grey Cloud," a Bloomfield reference to manager Albert Grossman. It comes from the "Live Adventures" gig at the Fillmore West in September 1968. It was a previously unreleased cut that was issued 2003 with the Sony Legacy edition of the original "Super Session" date. Michael's tone is definitely fat on that tune!
Thank you for this documentary. Mike Bloomfield was precious to all of us who love the Blues. He remains my favorite white blues guitar player, in a class by himself. When he was "on", no one, and I mean it, no one could touch him. He played by wrapping himself around his guitar and becoming one with the instrument. For those who want to know more about his legend, read his biography by Wolkin and Keenom. What he was and the lives he touched is amazing. He was the best.
