I saw Dawn maybe 2 days before she died and was at discovery cove when I heard the news that there had been an accident with 1 of the trainers..that's all they told us but people in other states already knew Dawn was dead..I just hope someone who cares for orcas as much as Dawn did will take care of Tilikum as best as they can...SeaWorld should make the tanks so much bigger with all the money they have though...Does anyone know if trainers are back in the water with orcas during shows now?
I went to sea world three times whilst i was stranded and saw Believe each time and to not see the trainers in the water with the orcas is upsetting, still it was a good show but never as good without the interaction. Tilikum was taking part in the show each time I was there!! I sat in the splash zone three times and didn't get wet once!!! I was gutted!! but some of the pictures I managed to take were amazing!!
I went to Seaworld today just as I did this time last year. The feeling within Shamu stadium was different. Seeing the trainers unable to physically interact with the Orcas was extremely sad. The whales were very interested in playing with their trainers. The show was nothing but incredible, but it was not the same without Tilikum. I saw him in the underwater viewing tank and I felt for him. He is a beautiful whale that simply made a mistake unknowingly and deserves to be included in the shows.
Thank you for saying that. Yeah, I went to SeaWorld 3 days ago to see how the trainers and whales were doing. The whales REALLY want the interactions but the trainers have to do what they have to do. They are working with Tilly, I saw them do a training session. Believe me the trainers want to have Tilly back in the show and have interactions with the whales as soon as possible, but for now they have to continue to see what they can change to make sure this doesn't happen again.
@OceanLovex3 I agree the bond between human and orca is something amazing and seaworld demonstraights it. The only complaint about seaworld i have is their lacking in zoological aspects, like the breeding programs of endangered marine life besides the orcas. I think seaworld needs to go none profit and deside things for themselves instead of being passed fron owner to owner. They can do so much more for marine life that way.
The more I learn, the more I believe that Tilly probably did not mean to harm her in the least. I still don't believe that they should be in captivity though. I hope they will stop breeding them.
I have to have faith that someone like Dawn, who seems to have truley loved the animals, would not have participated in their suffering if that was the case.
"Alone they are bereft of defense, and when alone they exhibit their own form of "co-operation" with those who might destroy them. In the case of the dolphin, it surrenders to us, a thing we mistake for gentleness. Having surrendered vital aspects of its survival equation when taken from the group, it is much less than a complete animal." Paul Forestell Ph.D.
@kmabru I thought the same thing. I would love to see Tilly do this. Normally, I see Kalina. Often times, I see Taima open the show. My heart goes out to the SeaWorld Orlando family. Such a rough year for them. :( May Dawn & Tai R.I.P. while watching over them.
if i was that trainer i would get my black jewish ass outta there. tilikum crazy mayne. he killed a nigga . well a 20 yr old trainer who him and 2 other whale sluts drowned
Tilikum is a sweet boy looking for a real friend.

that is a truly incredible animal. I had the priviledge of going to Sea World Orlando 2009 for the first time and Believe was out of this world
he should be treated with respect and the trainers should never be complacent around him or any of the killer whales

He is an amazing animal.

is he shamu? i just love him hes cute
Orcakid360 2 years ago
Shamu is just a stage name. They call all their whales that but they each have their own names The real Shamu was alive in the 60's and died in '71.

at 0.39 i nearly passed out the blinkin size of him! may i ask is he still around today?

Captive orcas are a sad caricature, a weary and spiritless version of
their wild counterparts. Visitors cannot help but leave with a distorted perception of
orcas and their environment. Most disturbingly, they may leave with the notion that it is
acceptable to confine orcas and other animals, solely to meet human demands for
entertainment and 'education' "Dying to Entertain You" Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.

Tillikum during this part of the show? That's odd.... I wonder if they had a problem that day.

They use him sometimes for this part. It's such a treat to see him do it.
