But the main thing that causes houses to catch on fire is because they have thatch and wooden roofs, but most are converting to slate and tiles nowadays.

In case anyone cares: If that room was 12' x 12' (which is wasn't quite) and if the water made it to 2' deep than the water in that room would have weighed just shy of 18,000 lbs (about 8155 kg). I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did! (Water is 1 gram per cubic centimeter. The room is probably closer to 10' x 8' but you get the idea. Feel free to check my math, I did it rather quick.)
