i like seeing your journals already done, iNICE! I'd like to have you go through siome and show what other art you devreloped from the sketches..
i dont want now to do one thats very lumpy warped or real messy..that comes oh to natural for me, i like the looks of . im having ussues playing utube videos stopping starting but id like to see yours in order? but dont know how to set that up to playlist
@fortunefay Thanks for coming over to MMW and checking us out! I have most of my art videos already in a Playlist on my channel page. If you look there on the top of the page in the middle right under the MMW banner, the word Playlists appears. If you click on that My Art shows up. MOST of my artsy videos are in that one.
Sometimes when it is really busy here on YT we get the 'buffering' effect when watching videos. Other times it's not there.
Stars things were cool, so was the eye that you showed briefly. I want some pastels. No fair. Keep drawing. Next, draw a Jester cus they are awesome. Or some cool halloween stuff cus I love Halloween. I'd love to see that.
Hi, what fantastic work you've done! I love writing and art as well so I too keep journals and sketchbooks. Maybe when I have the time I can make a video too? haha.
Does she have any videos of her work?? Tell her that I just started a Ning network (the link is on my channel page) and she can come post photos and videos on there as much as she wants. It's a great way for artists to network.
If she has a channel here on YT, have her contact me and I will sub. I LOVE art videos!
Good going, Shell! YAY for the art journals. They are so handy to have around. BTW, I got my new fabric markers and I'll be doing a test of them tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
haha i know i just posted a comment a few seconds ago but I also love cats! I have two twin sister Siamese cats whom I love. Cats also are some of my favorite subjects to draw.
An interesting idea, I'd not really thought to do that but I spose I dont spend enough time doodling to create a journal.. I spose of the few things I've painted could serve.. I've not drawn much at all. If I paint something, aside from the cleanup, I really like oil paints because of their richness. It's difficult but I need to devote more time to learning/practicing. Good idea Deb
Thanks, sugar. I had to spend an inordinate amount of time in dr.'s offices and hospitals a few years ago and scribbling and doodling helped to pass the time. You can only read so many People magazines before you're ready to hurl.
Today my 'journal' is more of a sketch diary of images that I am trying to work out or images that I want to do in the future. I wish I were talented enough to just sit down and draw a finished piece immediately, but I am not that good. :D
O, I see. I hate being in hospitals the only reasons I've been there have been for Family, I couldnt function during those times. I agree however on the hurling, lol.
Well I'd love to be able to do the same thing in painting, I like oil but seeing that oil is often multi-layer, textured painting & it takes so long to dry & if you do sketching first, then underpainting etc, jus seems WAY to lengthy, time consumption disuades me.. I hope you have a great weekend Deb ^_^
You might like Alkyd paints. I think they are made by Griffid?? Anyhow, they dry overnight. Not as fast as acrylics, but much faster than regular oils. And they come in a wonderful array of colors.
They wouldn't work in art journals per se, but at home they are worth a try!
Ok, I've heard of Alkyds but never read up on them.. I'm a noob at all this really.. I used to watch Bob Ross and I tried to paint a pic once when I was a lil kid proly 10-12 & it lookt like crappola and then I tried a few yrs back, again, well, I can't post weblink here so I send link in a message. Its my page in my channel but I provide quick link to it..
Thank you, sweetie! Glad you enjoyed the journal video. If you haven't yet checked out Suziblutube, look up her Channel. There are lots of artists here on YT that are very encouraging of new artists....also, EclecticAsylumArt has drawing lessons right on his Channel. Have fun!
Thank you for sharing your art journals. Nice work! I enjoyed seeing how you approach placement of work in your journals. I'll be favoriting this too, so I can watch it again. : )
Hi, Deb! Nice video! I, too, find suziblutube's videos inspiring! I've been working on a Healing Art Journal and I hope to make a little video of it, in a bit...when it's further along. It really has been a healing experience and I highly recommend it for anyone who is feeling low. Have a beautiful day! 5 stars for YOU!
RG...30 years of art journals! Whoa! You could make a LOT of videos about them, eh?
Nope, I'm not in Boulder at present. Left there 20 years ago, but visited 2 years back and couldn't even find my way around town! Even after living in Boulder for 17 years of my life, it had changed sooooo much I got lost there! Is that wild?
I really enjoyed this. I keep seeing stuff about the art journals on here but wasn't exactly sure why I would need one, but I certainly do now. Thanks!
Subscribed! YES! GET THESE PASTELS! THEY ROCK. I recently tried them and can't believe how creamy and lovely they are. You'll want to smoosh them all day! NOT JOKING. $10 at staples for the 24 pack.
Yippee!!! Glad that you got them. Aren't those water soluble pastels the coolest? No need for the turps and other smelly stuff and you get such wonderful results...
They're like crayons for adults, lol. But they make me FEEL like a little kid. These pastels are so versatile and they feel so great on paper... like butter! P.S. LOVE the cooties. Where can I get some of those?
That's EXACTLY how I feel about these pastels! Like a little kid coloring again, and then adding those finishing touches to transform the artwork into a painting. Whoever developed this product is a genius.
As for the cooties...I haven't seen them around in years and years, but search eBay.
I agree with you, just a lot of creative play in a book - that's what it is and that's what makes it awesome! Your journals are great, thanks for sharing them!
Violette!!! I think I saw a magazine article about you! Your work looks very familiar. This article was about your house and the things you had done to it. I was impressed with how inspirational you were about life.
:( Sad to say, not so well, I did however, doodle a suzi girl face on our tablecloth at the Italian restaraunt we went to, I should have torn it off and pasted it to my book :( Am kicking myself, cuzz it resembled her work, I was trying to be a copy cat.
If you had some journals, Sherri, they would be stunning I'm sure! Never too late to start, right? That seems to be what Suziblutube is trying to tell us anyhow.
BBO, I had to get myself into the habit of carrying my sketch books/journals and pens with me wherever I went. My Poppa and I spent a lot of time in waiting rooms and being able to doodle kept me from going beserk.

Well, I don't know how organized I am, but Virgos tend to be anal to a certain degree.
Don't know about you, but I doodled my way thru 12+ years of schooling. Can you imagine how much stuff we would all have if we had saved all that?
I'm really glad that you have introduced new people to the journaling thingie on YouTube. Waaaaay cool, girl!!! Just like your artwork.
