@SongwindGlobal Very good question... I wish I had an equally good answer ;^)
We're not sure right now - the project was initially intended as a way to grab attention and help to get funding for a larger project (possibly a feature length version of the short). At the moment we've just started submitting to festivals and will see what comes of that. We may end up opening it up to to online distribution but any money that was made from this film would just get rolled into the next film.
@seven3l3 The airship designs are original to the film. Our VFX lead and I sat down with a huge list or reference material I'd pulled from historic airship photos and retrofuturist artwork and came up with a more dieselpunk looking gunship for the enemies and a more antiquated Victorian era zeppelin for the good guys. I wanted to showcase the technical superiority of the enemy to make things seem even more bleak for our heroes. ;)
@platypusrex256 There are definite Steampunk elements in the production design (for example some of the zeppelin gunships are based on late Victorian era airships and some of the costuming has a decidedly late 19th century bent) but the overall aesthetic leans strongly Dieselpunk.
Yes - with the exception of one location everything you see was shot in Detroit. It's an amazing city with some amazing architecture and truly unique locations!
@Magnetohydrodynamics We're actually planning on making it publicly viewable after it does the festival circuit and once we've shown it to the various Hollywood types we've made friends with. If you can't wait a few months PM me!
@08techgrad Thank you! And yes, there was fair bit of scouting involved although many of the locations were ones we'd used on previous projects. Some of our scouting was just going back to confirm that the ruins we remembered were still there. Things collapsed or get hit by scrappers or demo crews from time to time. The ruins of Detroit can be as impermanent as shifting sand dunes....
Looks fantastic! Hope I'm able to see this upon it's release.

As a native Michiganian, I give props for superb use of the old industrial area. Looks like you did quite a bit of scouting to get the war zone look.
