  • 'Look at all the cake and presents'-one of the best lines in Spooks ever. Cried like a baby

  • The scene after were adam is crying is really touching.

  • Could there BE a more heroic death?

  • Anyone know the name of the soundtrack in this clip?

  • Wish I had the balls to do something like this... telling the terrorists where to stick their facist ideals

  • I remember when I first saw this on tv... I was crying my eyes out and felt bad for about a week.

  • This is the best !!!!!!!!!

I love all british tv. Many ythanks from germany . There is no better tv than british tv.

    I love britain

  • DAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • It's all a bit Dr. Who ish, I find it difficult to suspend my disbelief.

  • When a character dies on Spooks, it's always one of their best and most memorable moments, no other show can deliver it the way Spooks can!

  • I was bawling my eyes out first time i saw this :(

But that was one hell of a way to go!

  • In the latest episode far-right extremists force the hand of Helen, a trainee with the intelligence agency, into an industrial deep fat fryer, then pushed her head into the bubbling oil when her colleague refused to give details about other MI5 operatives. She was finally shot in the head by her captives as she lay injured.

  • @spartan8oo I just watched that episode, they didn't play that episode in the initial US airing (PBS censorship). Man that made me sad. At least they put her out of her misery.

  • Please please please don't kill off Harry or Ruth in Season 9.

  • @hopebgood I want them to stay together forever! :)

  • @Charlotte1912 It'd be nice, but I can't see those evil scriptwriters letting em live happlily ever after! lol

  • i remember this episode..it was so moving i believe what danny did

  • I think his was the only spook death that I cried over since he was the last of the first three main spooks.

  • Oh, god. I was a complete and total WRECK after watching this.

  • If you watch the rest of series 3 you'll notice there was a lot of cast changes

  • It was inevitable that the spooks get killed off its because they stay out in the cold too frequently for too long. If u stay out in the cold like that, your luck just eventually runs out!If you notice...Harry is still around for 8 seasons! its because,he doesnt stay outside..he very seldomly goes outside,..he stays inside, thats why he's still alive thats why he still has his job, the same applies to Malcom Wynn-Jones.

    The REMFS Rule!

  • Too bad Zoe and Tom couldn't come back for one episode, a reunion of sort. Danny was the best, sorry to see him killed off

  • I personally think that girl who got her head stuck in a deep fat fryer, is possibly the worst way to go! Colins and Jo's makes me want to cry, Adams made me hurt inside and i was glad when Connie died psychotic cat women! If Harry/Ruth dies i think i will die! Just crossing my fingers that maybe somehow Ros flew out in Series 8! Pray with me!

  • The way Spooks just kills off...everyone is one of the best things about it. Specially Adam: blow up the main character in the first episode of a series? Sure as fuck didn't see that coming.

  • Ros is gonna get killed off as well soon

  • @clazzyfree1

Too late, allready done by the looks of things in season 8 eppisode 8

  • @Tzimnewman3 nice lil spoiler

  • I hope I'm wrong, but you know eventually those sadistic script writers are going to kill Harry. Apart from the "deep fat fryer incident" I still find Colins' death the most shocking. The way he meekly let himself be hung in that cold, bleak wood. *sniff*

  • Danny was a great part of the team. Just so sad. Very noble death.

  • For me the worst death goes to Zaf, wish he was still in it. He was my fave spook EVER!

  • But I still have those things.

  • this was just the most noble death possible - I LOVE YOU DANNY!

  • britain made evryone else play our ball games, they; wern't playing so we conquered em and made me play em

  • What u on abwt

  • just saying nooen really played our games before the empire

  • Colin's death STILL chills me to the bone.

  • Danny was never a "super spy" like Tom, or Adam, or anyone else. However, this is probably the most heroic act of any Spooks episode...

  • Wait until you see Jos death! its not as good as Dannys but in my opinion it comes a close 2nd.

  • aaaaaaaaahhhhhh SPOILER!!!

  • Oh fuck! im so sorry. i watched it on friday forgetting it airs on a wednesday! I am so sorry!

  • That's really unfair for people who haven't seen it yet!! You should have declared spoiler!!

  • I completely forgot it wasnt a general viewing! I am really sorry and am a complete tard for posting!

  • I was so sad to see Danny go, but was glad to see that it was making a sacrifice to save someone else - instead of being eaten up and spit out by the spy game like Tom and Zoe were.

  • which series is this in?

  • spooks

  • no, really??????:)

  • LOL :)

  • series 3,... ep 5 i think?

  • Series 3 Finale. I actually have all the seasons on DVD. This is the season 3 finale.

  • yeah, thanks, no I've got them too

  • ...all the cake and presents...

  • if your going to go that is definatly the way to leave, anyone who can do somting like that is a fukin legend.

  • the best show in the english speaking world by far. The yanks aussies and canadians can't even come close to the consistent quality of this series. I'm an aussie and have to admit that the pommies make better tv.. (not cricketers though)..

  • You lost me at pommies and cricketers ;-)

  • ,,no, it just takes animal brawn to play cricket. i rest my case, yer honor.

  • yup-we do make some good TV. We also make good countries-New Zealand in particular......ok, and Australia, you guys are quite good too

  • "we also make good countries" - I wouldn't get too carried away - what do you make of Zimbabwe? ;)

  • Meh, when we left Zimbabwe(coincidentally my dad was born and raised there) it was the richest most fertile country in the region-not for nothing was it called the bread basket of southern Africa.

All the awful things that have happened in Zimbabwe have happened because of Mugabes post colonial power hungry rape of his own counrtry

Not that i think `empire` is blameless or 100% perfect, but for every Zimbabwe there was an Australia (ie, for every failure, a success)

  • yer - fair enough - probably a much better colonisation success rate than the French or the Spanish. Mugabe needs to be sorted for sure.

  • yup, then maybe my dad can get his house back. In fairness he never knew he had it-it had been left to him and he somehow didnt know about it(and the house itself was a shak really-its the land that has, or had (given that Mugabes economic managements has probably denuded the land of all agriculutral value). He only found out after living in England for 22 years. Still, its still his property regardless of what Hitler Mugabe says

  • the scariest thing about this show is that the writers are as ruthless as the villains... you don't know who they'll kill off next.

  • @Hammaskillz ...you're right. At first, that bothered me cuz I didn't want to see people go like Colin and Danny and Jo. But now I think it is quite brave of them to do this. They know the viewers will be upset, but itz about the show - Spooks and not just about your favorite character. Although, I don't think Harry will ever go anywhere for very long. He is the glue.

  • @Hammaskillz lool yh. Thats one of the things I love bout spooks they don't try to gloss up the world of espionage. People die in spook, usually quite brutally.

  • Danny was the last member of the original squad. Zoe and Tom we written out in episodes 2 and 6 of Season 3, respectively. I loved those characters, but it wouldn't have been realistic for them to live in that world unscathed, dodging ever bullet or getting out of every jam without paying some sort of price.

The writers were brilliant, peppering each episode with hints as to where these characters were headed. Danny's end is especially heartbreaking as he loses Zoe to Will (cont.)

  • ....and when he finally says to her that he loves her, she replies with "I know.". You can see hurt on his face when it happens.

Tragic character. It would have been nice to see him live, find love and walk off into the sunset, but that's not how espionage works.

  • not so-malcom and harry are still there

  • he gets shot to pieces by special forces

  • Do they get this death worshipping facist? I hope it was painful.

  • So sad. Very sad. Till now I had to read about this in mags. Does BBC America or anyone in the US still rerun this show (I did catch an ep on PBS this week)? And I gotta see this whole ep sometime!

  • That was the kind of death Adam Carter deserved, with an awesome last line and heroic stand. Instead he got blown up lamely in a car.

Where o where have all the scriptwriters gone?

  • I am staring at the screen transfixed with shock

    That speech was so affecting

"....Acts of hatred also produce acts of love, so you, my friend, will never win."

I don't think I'm going to forget those words for a long time

  • Cool, simple music. Whattan evil SOB the executioner was!!!!!! What happens to him? Like the reaction shots of the other spooks. I've got some catching up to do. I understand this show's been on for at least 7 years?!

  • So sorry man! I meant to give you a thumbs up, but clicked too quickly. I completely agree with your post.

  • Oh no, the character of Danny always wore blue, if it's Star Trek shirt odds you're using. Thus the emotional resonance that obviously skipped you entirely.

  • Never watched the show, eh?

  • Actually no. I first started watching last series. Ive missed about 6 seasons and to be honest i dont know why i didnt start watching before its damn good.

  • ...Ooooh dear...

    ='(

  • One of the best on-screen deaths of all time.

  • Spooks MAn can't wait for the 7th series and spin off code 9

  • The most action twisting episode. After 3 years and he gets shot.

  • 'Look at all the cake and presents'

Danny's death was a present to Fiona - he gave his life for her ... x

  • This episode was unbelievable. Possibly the most affecting season finale of Spooks. Danny was so brave.

  • What a beautiful and poignant sacrifice Danny makes for the sake of Fionna and Adam. How amazing is the speech he made about choices and life being different?

  • words cannot express how good spooks is.

  • Still, after all this time, it is still sad to see Danny go down like that in this great series!

  • PezPirate, you shouold change your name to Mother Teresa. I am not impressed "metaphorically speaking." jajajajaja

  • Why open your mind to possibilities and new ideas.... its a big scary world out there, and everyone is out to kill you unless you kill them first, correct? *groans* If that were true, its 6 billion plus to one. You'd already be dead. Paranoia is the health hazard of the closed minded and the frail of heart. You cease to live, and just exist.... Its my choice to live how I do. Can you say the same, or are you influence and manipulated by the politics of fear?

  • Lets see.... I havent called you any names, made any suppositions or any assumptions about you. All Ive done is simply put ideas and ideologies out there, and state my philosophy. Youve attacked me, ridiculed me, and laughed at me.... so who's the hateful one here? I wont respond any more. You can have all the last words you choose.

  • i like you!!!

    wierd question

    are you british?

    and GCRU486:

    are you an American?

  • yes I am. Thank you

  • If by sucking up to terrorists, you mean they dont promote a war mongering agenda.... like say Fox News, who will tell you how a dozen people are dying of the bird flu, then after a commercial break.... they'll tell you how you can profit from it !!!! Yep, PBS, BBC, the Childrens Television Network.... all pinko socialist commies. *ugh*

  • PBS us supported primarily by money (TAXES) given to them by the United States GOvernment, and a much smaller donation form leftist and assorted wanta be do gooders. I wish I could get FOX every day, but I can not. the truth hurts doesn't it MOFO.

  • If you honestly believe that ANY media outlet gives you "the truth", then I envy your ability to trust. They have to make their advertisers happy, the companies who own them *GE (NBC), Insurance Companies, etc.* Further, PBS DOESNT get even half of its budget from taxes. A primary portion of its operations budget come courtesy of Cargil, Exxon, etc. (Tax write-offs for these companies) There are also member drives that help pay for programming at the state/local level.

  • Pezpirate; So it is alright for those greedy corporate maggots like Cargil, and Exxon to fund BBC, and NPR as long as they don't make a profit? I thought all greenie socialist hated big corporation? in reference to PBS tax moneies? One of your U.S. dollars is too much for them. They should compete like like other stations do. They are leeches on the America tax paying society.

  • I can see Im wasting my time trying to have an honest debate here.... My mistake.

  • I agree, how can anyone have a honest debate with you green-leftist who sit upon your high horses looking down the your noses at any dissenting comments? If anyone post anything that does not meet your leftist one world agenda they are scorned and ridiculed.

  • First off, You dont know my ideology, you only assume it. Im ex Military and Law Enforcement and I long for the day where those services arent needed as they are. Ive buried too many friends across this globe, but thats not important to this argument. Second, I try not to look down at anyone, metaphorically speaking. Im a nay sayer against violence, corruption and ignorance. Its why I teach now....

  • GCRU486: you obviously know very little about the way the BBC is funded. Its actually funded through a universal licence fee which is imposed on all native Brit's with a television. So in actual fact the BBC is an independent organisation free from commercial restraint and free political biast. In response to your comment about PSB's being a leech: thats absolute rubbish. The BBC remains the only independent broadcasting organisation free from commerical or political bias.

  • @Toddthemunchkin

So that would make the BBC the antithesis of "independent", being "funded through a universal licence fee which is imposed on all native Brit's with a television"

  • Finally, the MOFO comment wasnt needed. It only ruins any point were trying to make by undermining your ethos/pathos. Making a derogatory comment against me trying to enhance your ideals isnt necessary or logical. I didnt insult you or you sling the proverbial mud at you, now did I?

  • pezpirate your post are insults, and if you don't like the mofo comment, I could really care less.

  • Actually Justin, Spooks was here long before 24 came to screen.

  • Actually 24 began on November 2001

    Spooks began on May 2002

Im from UK and like both personally but i like 24 a bit more

  • Sorry, mate, I'm going to have to disagree with you there. 24 first hit screens November 6, 2001 while Spooks came out a few months later on May 13, 2002.

  • It's broadcast after 9 o'clock, so what if there's swearing?

And secondly, it's not a rip off of 24 at all. There are some similarities yes, but that's to be expected with any genre of drama.

  • What's worse, the F word or Kiefer Sutherland torturing people?

And I say that as a fan of 24.

  • Ex-cel-lent. We don't write it that good over here because Hollywood is so full of death-hating-fascists.

  • Hey dojokonojo, they do have bbc channels in america; it is called PBS

  • PBS is not BBC. They're very different.

  • Hi there, we just wanted to apologise to any of you who were watching the show and experienced a spoiler with this clip. We will endeavour not to repeat this situation in future.

    Regards,

    BBCWorldwide

  • WTF idiots?! Putting a spoiler like this on the front page? If I wanted to know about Danny's death I would've searched for it.
