US fascist farmers want to fucking take on the Europeans and the Canadians and the Australians get caught in the crossfire. There was no more morally bankrupt policy of the fascist Reagan years. We're lucky it didn't start a war.
Live From Manor Downs .... My ex wife and I had to decide between the show and our 10 year High School Anniversary.... We chose the show ...I'm certain we made the correct decision.
Neil, the canadian stud who blew in on a chinook all the way down through the heartland to texas to bellow this ballad of heart and soil, americanna at its best, with this sexy woman and her fierce voice. This performance was a gift, thank you for sharing it.
I love Neil's rawness with his music and this track. By far one of my top 5 favorite musicians of all time. "This old world keeps spinnin' round. It's a wonder tall trees ain't layin' down." Very well said Neil.
I had the pleasure of seeing Neil Young w/ The International Harvesters in Philadelphia in the mid 1980's. Nicolette opened the show and came out to do Comes A Time with Neil and the band. All i can say is i was living in a better time then. Nicolette was absolutely beautiful.
This is a great song and I like this version quite a bit more than the original recording. Neil sped it up and improved upon it with play. Also, the performances of Neil and Nicolette are classic. Thanks for putting it up!
These bastards are cashing in with ads on the vid. Not my doing. Every farm aid vid iv'e uploaded has got copyright infringement notices from farmaidvideos. I say fair enough......if you are going to upload a master in place of it. I'm a Neil Young fan! No money is made from this! What are you trying to achieve? Give us the good quality masters....or at least make them available for purchase. Why pursue me as a fan for uploading videos?
@vacanthitchhiker : From listening to these songs again I've gone out and purchased my whole vinyl catalog of Neal Young on DVD. If I had not had the opportunity to listen to these on line, I very likely would never have done that. So yes, someone IS making money from this, and it ain't you! Thanks for the memories.
@vacanthitchhiker Farm Aid has notified YouTube that we own the copyright for these performances, so ads running on this video and others raise money for our mission of keeping family farmers on their land. We're happy for you to leave this video up so people can continue to enjoy performances from Farm Aid shows. We're also slowly uploading videos from our archives in high quality, including this one, on our YouTube channel.
@cpesprit He has a fan at the front of the stage to do this. I've seen him three times and once i was right behind the fan when i was lucky enough to be in the front of a 30,000 crowd. It does make for a cool look, though, and it stops him from sweating like a madman while rockin' out!!!
Uncle Neil's the SHIT!!! and Canadian, too!! KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD!!!!
@TheMRTONY1950 NOOO??? THE RUFUS THIBAUDEAUX??? THE CAJUN ICON??? In fact, I just heard of him in a stupid but swinging song of a french singer Michel Fugain about The Acadians, "All the acadian men and all the acadian women are going to sing and dance to the violin sound, they're american boys and american girls, who's fault? Napoleon's!"Hoopy! I do my best to translate!
@tomturntxMost of your comments are moronic, at best. If you don't think much of Nicolette, then stop watching any videos with her in them..............
@tomturntx it just doesn't make sense how you could be so cold and have so much hatred towards someone who's choices have had absolutely no effect on you or your life, you came on here an randomly dissed her, that upsets me and thats why i dropped a few obscenities. you have shown your ignorance by having no reason to be upset, you have no good reason to hate this girl and i think its disgusting that you could say so many mean and hurtful things on a video that has been posted for her fans.
@drweelz Welcome to the internet, anonymity and an audience leads to people acting like douche bags, dont get worked up over it. They want you to react to their infinflammatory comments.
I love this version of one of my favorite Neil Young songs.
@tomturntx your fucked dude, she did nothing wrong to you, you have no right to judge her, you think your so righteous and never did anything wrong? so she made a bad choice big deal i bet you cant think of a time when you did something stupid that could have turned out a lot worse then it did, some people just arnt that lucky. you must be one of those fucked up religious freak like that shirley phelps roper bitch
@tomturntx I did not know that. Now I think your even more of a scumbag! How could you talk like that about someone who has passed away? who the fuck do you think you are?
I think I fell in love with Nicolette Larson today. She is so precious. I watched this video this morning before work and could not wait to get home and watch it again. It's something about her presence, the way she sings "tall trees" and puts the twang on the word "spinning". And how she is caught off guard by the full stop. I love her.
Nearly 40 years ago, the Beatles were splitting up before our eyes, and in their music, and I wondered, 'who am I going to listen to now, with such a deep feeling about their music that kept bringing me back to them.
Then I went to my first of over 15 NY concerts, with CS&N joining him for at least 3 of them.
There's a certain irony in that title. Just 20, or so, years later, when he sings "Four Strong Winds," He looks like an old farmer, but still with that somewhat juvenile voice. Never mind. Love his songs. Rembering a time, 30 years ago, tearing up over my Grandad & 7, hearing "Heart of Gold" for the first time, wishing I could find one.
That's Rufus playing the fiddle...he was with Neil on International Harvesters tour and the Austin City Limits Special...should be on Youtube...look it up. Down By The River was the final song...awesome version of it
Sure wish we could hear the "pure" recordings without the audience noise. Audience reactions are fine on comedy records, or on some personal appearance recordings like Susan Boyle's appearances where the audience applauds her glass-ceiling breakthroughs, but audience inclusion breaks the mood of most songs, to me. Most "covers" don't thrill me all that much, either. The Neil Young'uns are an exception.
I haven't thought of this song in awhile, I always like originals (masters recordings), but I was unable to find it on youtube, and we all know vynil is the next best thing to a master recording...RIGHT!
I'm leaving a city that I called home for twenty years giving it all up and turning it in for love...I'm comming home Sissy. I LOVE my family, I've been away to long this time.
I have always been a "Traveler," and did most of my traveling on my own throughout my teens in to my 30's before other family obligations slowed me down.
Now the time is close for me to move about, and I welcome others to consider doing it as much as you can, no matter your age. So much to see and learn.
There's just no accounting for tastes. I think the fiddle makes the song. Gives it character, or, maybe, atmosphere. Sort of a country hoedown. Somehow puts me in mind of Hank Jr's "Texas Women."
Brings back so many memories of my youth! Especially memories of Robert L. Hale...somewhere 'neath the big blue sky! Whereva you are, Rob ...i'll always love you! Muah!
Yeah! You're precisely right saying Nicolette Larson's voice that make the song..have you seen forever young? Another Nicolette Larson's voice that make the song amazing..
Yeah she was driving in his car and putting some of Neil's tapes on and Neil wasn't going to use if for a record (he said) ..so he told her she could have it.

Thanks for the info. I have seen it and also ''homegrown '' live from farm-aid 1986. Also, go to the website vodpod or dailymotion and watch the 1993 ' official ' video of Harvest Moon, Nicolette is in this also........................

Thanks for the info. I have seen it and also ''homegrown '' live from farm-aid 1986. Also, go to the website vodpod or dailymotion and watch the 1993 ' official ' video of Harvest Moon, Nicolette is in this also........................

Music master Neil Young at his versatile best...and with the late, gifted Nicolette Larson. What a favourite. What a treat to have it!

"You and I we were captured/We took our souls/and we flew away/We were right/we were giving/That's how we kept/what we gave away."
This song is so profoundly beautiful.
