For me the games that got this just right are the Thief, Diablo, Ultima and Fallout series

Hi, i've found out that the weird sound you hear at about 0:28 and later in the song is actually a sample of some russian news anchor. The sample has originally been used in the song "To Have And To Hold" by Depeche Mode. Mark Morgan quotes the band as one of his influences.

Translation : "The reports consider the evolution of nuclear arsenals and the socio-psychological problems of the arms race". Makes it even more awesome.

The only reason I didn't enjoy the music for the first two fallout game because it made me shit my pants in fear. Of course, that is probably what the original composer wanted it to be like so I suppose has successful in creating a very ominous and dark tone.

Fo3 music was good, well some was pretty forgettable, but some of the darker themes reminded me of FO1 and 2. And some of the battle themes were a nice contrast. I've heard better soundtracks, for sure, but it wasn't all bad.

This music is awesome. Mark Morgan is a genius, and he should return to his roots - video games! He's scoring schlocky tv series now, and even if it pays better - it's not good in the long run. The next Fallout must be scored by him - if the franchise isn't dead yet (thanks bethesda, you hacks)
