That song is a song for the funeral of a queen but Cygnus x remix is epic and it is beautiful too. It's a real variation and not a simple remix. The rythm and the tonality gives some energy and happiness to that song. It's enough for me to consider Cygnus x as a great composer of trance music.

When Deadmau5 made his version, he followed (ripped) Cygnus X' version rather than the original. Which in turn, makes this a remix of Cygnus X' Orange Theme, which itself was a remix of A Clockwork Orange, which was a remix of the original.

to clarify things. cygnus x's clockwork orange wasn't an original either. here is how the time line goes.
One of the songs from the movie "clockwork orange" was a remake of a fueral song. then cygnus x made a rework of it. then deadmau5 made a remix of it.

This is the reason why Deadmau5 can be a piece of crap. He has given himself plenty of oppurtunities for an amazing drop but he chooses not to. the audience is just listening to the same loop for maybe a good 4 minutes. yes they are at armin live but i would still be upset. THe orange theme is an amazing classic techno song and he has just spit in Cygnus X's face. He has a PERFECT oppurtunity to transform everything but he drops it the same way he did in the beggining of the vid. deadmau5 ehhhh

To you people who claim to know your music, this isn't by CYNGUS X or DEADMAU5!!!!, For like the a millionth time- the original is 100's of years old and is by Henry Purcell (1659~1695) and is called 《Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary》Z. 860. @RedzDevilz why not check wikipedia? cause its not reliable. wikipedia has its own sources that you can check it from. wikipedia isnt as bad as people say it is. i know when to trust wikipedia and when not to. anyway. if it WAS created in the 1600's then the song/melody would be in something the music business calls "public domain" meaning that anyone can use the song without copyright issues. like jingle bells.

Actually its from the movie A Clockwork Orange. So the title is spoton :-) Whether or not its a remix or a new interpretation of the original movietheme can be discussed. However this was THE track (Cygnus X - Orange theme) that started my passion for electronic music. I have heard that track so many times i cant even count it. I absolutely love this version. Tiesto did it a few years ago as well. Also an excellent mix. Think ill do it myself next :P

Please DJs, stop trying to change the Orange Them if you do not have anything to add to it.
At least Energy52/Cafe Del Mar remixes are usually a really NEW version of it.
This is just the same without the magic (and yeah, The Orange Them is one of the finest song ever, so try hard or not). A good DJ would have played it without changing a bit rather than that, imho.

I think it's great how everyone is stepping up to say where this track originally comes from. You are all right (almost, lol) This track was originally created by Henry Purcell for the funeral of Queen Mary as Tijnk said. Deadmau5 was the first person to step up and give credit where credit is due. The Mau5 has never claimed it as his own creation it is simply another brilliant remix by him. So brilliant other world famour deejays use his mixes in their sets. I love it and I respect it.

Agree 100%. This track was thoroughly rinsed back in my rave days '95 '96ish. The fact that prominent dj's have chosen to bring it back using Deadmau5's mix is a testament to not only his skills, but a great show of respect. This guy has gotten larger in 2 years than most dj's have gotten in an entire career. This is not an accident...
