My aunt got thrown into her garage when she got hit by the wind, and a tree came right down right where she was standing. I bet god was on her side at that time. I had tree branches all over my house. some of my neighbors actually had full uprooted tree detroying part of the house. (Mostly garages). that storm is something that i dont want to relive.
i remember that!! thats like right near my house where you're at. when we went and looked around, there were power lines down in the middle of the road, and trees uprooted, and even houses caved in! we were lucky that all that happened to us is that our roof lost a few shingles, and our outdoor table shattered, which i found hilarious. :]
i remember that day my friend and i were in the pool and then this huge storm just came in in like 5 secounds we ran out and he got hit in the head with a branch he had a huge bumb that day sucked so much was fuined and its not like we have much in the first place u know
that was an unusual day anyways with the fact that it was a good day then power goes out and i dont konw what the f*** is going on and then i hear sirens and s***
It wasn't a tornado. I thought it was too at first because there was a loud roar and the tops of trees at the end of my sub were coming apart. It was a down burst apprx. 80-85mph winds from a derecho line of thunderstorms. Not a tornado.
it was close enough my parents went out and said it was at the tops of trees we had tornado warnings and sirens going off u tell me that wasnt a tornado.
ugh it was so gross but sad... my neighbor was outside and GAWD he was standing under the tree and it got struck by lightin and fell down on him and killed him... I STILL CANT GET THAT HORROR OUT OF MY MIND!!!
Wow, I lived between crescent, and Airport off Pontiac Lk Rd a couple years ago. Havent been in that area since November... I'll have to make a visit.
Pontiac Lk Rd between Airoprt and Hospital. 2 officially confirmed Touchdowns (by the WTFD,) at Airport and Pontiac Lk Rd, and again by Riverside Elementary. Another "possible" by Elizabeth and Williams, (winds blow in one direction, and won't rip up trees within 50 feet of each other and toss them both in opposite directions.)
Best part is... WTFD spotted multiple funnel clouds 20 mins BEFORE the sirens went off. Whoever was operating them REFUSED to turn them on from the call made by WTFD.
Here is what I saw. I was watching the storm approach and I heard a load roar which sounded like a jet taking off just South of my sub division and then the tree branches started to go straight up in the air. I yelled for my wife and kids to take cover because I seriously thought it was a tornado, but did NOT see any funnel. Scary shit because the sub 1000 feet South of my got tore up with 80-90mph winds.
I walked down some of the subs off Hospital Rd/Pontiac Lk Rd area and most of it looked like straight line wind damage. Although I saw one tree split in half did look twisted. The sirens sounded 15 minutes after the winds hit my area. Apparently NWS said there was no tornado. If it was a tornado, it was a EF0-Low EF1, because the only real structural damage I saw (not counted houses hit by trees) was a few chimneys broke off, a few pieces of siding on the lawn and a few peeled shingles.
That is interesting since it is the weather service that confirms tornado touchdowns not the fire department. They may have spotted one or more funnels but the damage per the weather service was from straight-line winds.
i remember this it was BAD IN my neighborhood.

Yeah, it wasn't a tornado. We reviewed the radar data. Read ^ on the characteristics of a downburst .

That was a really scary (and totally awesome) day. I thought the power was just going out for no reason, I look outside and the wind's SO fast.
My friend's neighbor had a tree split their house in half!
