@Caspthereaper Dude i love animals and nature but settle down, its a vermin animal, thats out of control and most likely riddled with worms or parasites, they are a plague on the country side they are a problem to farmers and have a devastating effect on other native wild life, as are foxes, pigs, wild dogs, feral cats, wild goats certain bird species etc. Keeping these pest animals under control is paramount.

There are many reasons to cull animals even if you do not eat the meat. Rabbits destroy home gardens and ravage fields. While you may not feel the cost because it's not coming out of your pocket, it's costs farmers millions and consumers by extension.
There are ALWAYS too many animals for the available food supply. Thinning the population leaves more food for those that remain resulting in healthier animals.

@blkwulff I have drilled a hole through a 3 inch thick tree with federal bulk ammo shooting from an 18 inch barreled ruger 10/22. Sometimes you get weird results.
If it's vermin your shooting that are pests I say you don't have to eat it but if your shooting native animals yeah you should probably eat it but rabbits foxes and hogs don't bother unless you want to eat it

There are many reasons to cull animals even if you do not eat the meat. Rabbits destroy home gardens and ravage fields. While you may not feel the cost because it's not coming out of your pocket, it's costs farmers millions and consumers by extension.
There are ALWAYS too many animals for the available food supply. Thinning the population leaves more food for those that remain resulting in healthier animals.

A cuckoo bird will secretly lay one egg in the nest of a reed warbler. The cuckoo's egg is always the 1st to hatch, and the baby cuckoo will push the still unhatched warbler eggs out of the nest. The reason is so that the baby cuckoo has no competition for the food the adult warbler brings.
