  • I like this song so much Nathalie you're the best...

  • Go Girl!!!

  • I love SNSD's version, but this is just as amazing as Genie. This song didn't stop me from dancing around. :D

It's also nice to hear the song as it is before it was translated. :]

  • This version and the 'GENIE' version sound the same for me.

The only difference is the 'DJ put it back on', Tiffany owned that line!! XD

  • SM also bought Hello by SHINee..

  • 100% more better than "Genie". This makes sense and is catchy!

  • Sowoneul malhaebwa~

  • yeah yuri said that the original version was "i just wanna dance" not soweoneul marhaebwa

  • O--------------------------O whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa did Soshi buy this or DID SM BUY THIS

  • @CloudyXSky She licensed the song from SM, these are original lyrics before it was re-written in Korean.

  • @GortokTheDestroyer Ohh okay thanks (:

  • what the fuck?

  • SNSD genie > this song.

  • love SNSD better..really good to hear in korean

  • lol I was looking for a different song with the same title and when I heard like the first 3 seconds I was like.... wait a minute. But I think I like SNSD better. Could be the fact that I heard it first but both versions are good ^-^

  • I love SoShi and Genie, and I found this song through it, it's pretty good :)

  • SM sure likes to buy English songs. :D This is the fourth one that I've heard of.

  • @xForeverEternal this is my sixth =_______=

  • @butterfly2057 I know "Danger", "Run Devil Run", "Hot Summer", and this one. What are the others?

  • @xForeverEternal Well, I know they bought the Shinee songs "Juliette" (original: Deal With It by Corbin Bleu) and "Forever or Never" (original: Forever or Never by Cinema Bizarre), TVXQ's "Mirotic", "Wrong Number", "Survivor"... not just English songs, though...they also bought the rights for Shinee to cover the spanish song "Ella" by Alejandro Sanz.

  • @InThe11thDimension OMG I've never heard "Juliette"! I love Deal With It, so I have to hear Shinee's version! :D

  • @xForeverEternal you are wrong.

snsd' run devil run - original song.

ke$ha's run devil run - guide version.

    refer to the following article.

U.S. pop star Ke$sha in 2008 had recorded the guide track for "run devil run", which was later leaked on YouTube. but snsd will be the first artist to officially release the song written by Busbee, Alex James and Kalle Engstrom.

check out music sites for more information

  • @love119100 Either way, they still bought an English song, since it was recorded in English first.

  • @xForeverEternal dude she bought genie... :)

  • Wow, I had no idea about this until today!

  • genie is my favorite snsd's song, but original lyrics are in english

  • nono

    snsd is original version XD

first fsnsd used it and then she bought it from composer

  • this version is way better than Korea ver. Sorry It's my opinion

  • @zenexeexe You're allowed your opinion xD there are so many differences between both

  • @ruk13 the music is the original music, sm bought the song and rearranged it. :)

  • Comment removed

  • I loooooooooove this version!!!! ^^

  • snsd one is better :P korean version xD

  • I prefer this version over SNSD anytime.

  • I feel bad how SM artists' songs are mostly covers yet turn into sensational hits, but the original artists don't get the recognition they deserve and get called "the group/person that *insert kpop artist* covered a song to"

  • Comment removed

  • @dfc123able This isn't the original song. SM bought the song first for SNSD but then changed the lyrics to fit better to the korean language and their idea. SNSD released this song in 2009 and this song came out in 2010. Its a perfectly legal transaction.

  • @dfc123able no. snsd's genie is the first original song released in 2009.

nathalie's I just wanna dance was released in 2010.

in addition. genie's composer is dsign music.

    ↓dsign music's official site

    dsign.no

  • @love119100 SM bought it from Dsign, SM didn't write the song

  • WOW I LOVE THIS VERSION!

  • SNSD 1000000 times Better!! SNSD Fighting! <3

  • like it.. SNSD!!! SOSHI JJANG SOSHI JJANG!!! whoa i like it..

  • she kind of looks like raven.

    P.S. I love both versions!

  • la version de GENIE! salio primero! y la de ella salio despues...!

pero no qanta nada mal! pero prefiero a mis girls generetion! ¬¬

  • This version is good too!! But I like SNSD's better ^^

  • Prefiero a SNSD pero esta chica no canta nada mal,,,!!

  • So 4 version of Genie. Ok.

  • i see.. i prefer this over snsd..

  • btw seeing as how neither party wrote the song, i would not make the claim that that either own this song. just purchased copywrites by their label.

  • ooooo, this version is better! i like both, but this version is about dancing, therefore its just clearly more fun

  • to everyone.

this song is legal cover song of snsd's genie!

genie's composer "dsign music" confirm this on media.

    dsign music's official site

    ->dsign.no

  • omg I love this!!!

  • Es mejor Genie xd

  • Sowoneol malhaeppwa nothing can stop this lyrics, SNSD HUNDRED TIMES BETTER

  • Lmao, i'm dutch and a big big big sone

it's weird to hear she make's a cover from genie XD

  • I love SNSD, but she did a pretty good job with this song. Dutch pride. ^^

  • Ooooooh, like both!!

  • No, this is a legal version <3

    And I love it! :B Both, SNSD's and Nathalie's, rocks! <3

  • This is plagiatism!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AsemAskarova .... what's plagiatism...

  • @anddayysayshi plagerism is coping

ex:dany had to draw something.so he decided to draw a famous painting by a famous artist,he was plagerising

  • @girlgeneration5 I was referring to the spelling of "PLAGIARISM" as "plagiatism" as obvious sarcasm.

I have lost all faith in humor AND the capability of people to spell common words correctly.

  • @AsemAskarova sorry if this sounds mean, but dont be naive. just because its the same tune does not make it plagarism, thats all im gunna say cuz u can figure out the rest yourself

  • i knew ive heard snsd song before damn i think snsd version is better

  • i love both versions but i still think SNSD's version is better cuz i'm used to it

  • SNSD Hwaiting <33 !!!!!!!

  • did she just say the "N" word at 0:12? both versions are cool though!

  • @clp0928 'you got your eyes on me...guess what i'm thinking of'

  • Dineyraも好きだけど、Nathalieのアレンジもカッコいい!very cooooooool!!!

  • @uboaenen snsd's genie - original

    nathalie's song - legal cover

dineyra's song - illegal copy song

in addition, genie was composed by dsign music.

    dgign music's official site

    ->dsign.no

  • @love119100 Dineyra's version isn't illegal, don't say things you don't know crap about

  • @wesleyis16 no.

genie's composer "dsign music" comfirmed that they didn't permit dineyra to use the song.

dineyra released song without permission from dsign music.

  • @love119100 SNSD's version was the first legal verson, but not the 'original'....they had to have special Korean lyrics written for them. The original Swedish producers didn't write the song in Korean - they created the song with the English lyrics that Nathalie sings here. But this was released a few months after Genie. So both are authentic: SNSD's version was first, while Nathalie's version is truer to the original song.

  • This song is too irresistible to hate. It's brilliant whether it's sung by Nathalie or Girls' Generation.

  • Thumb up if SNSD brought you here !

  • this is so fucking funny,

she's dutch and people from country's far away from the netherlands,

    love this song. xD

  • omggggggggg not Genie too! T__T

  • これは、少女時代のカバー??

  • @love68love no they bought this song with snsd each other for copyright :)

its not a cover she just released this song as i know :)

  • SME is not that stupid stealing songs like cut and paste. its a big company. they got dignity. they bought the music before publishing it. like Ke$ha, SME bought Run Devil Run from Ke$ha herself, plus the song that is just a demo sang by Ke$ha to make a business out of it. As for this song, it has been licensed and approved by SME and Universal Music.

just get it right people don't judge the book by it's cover.

  • @Shakhmarification Get it right; Kesha never owned that track she demo-ed it for producers. It was never hers. Also I just wanna dance is a licensed version of Genie, not the other way around.

  • i like this version more!!!! ♥♥♥

  • isn't it interesting when both companies are called SME?

  • @amylalaz123 yeah right =)) SM Entertainment & Sony Music Entertainment =)) what a coincidence!

  • I prefer it better.

  • snsd bought run devil run from kesha too....dang.

  • Comment removed

  • @missuntouchable24 Excuse me? that was a STATEMENT, not a question. Kesha sang it first, so its HER song. I didn't leave that comment up for a debate.

  • Comment removed

  • @missuntouchable24 Like i said, that wasn't up for debate.I'm not asking you, I'm *telling* you that it's hers because she sung it first. see the difference?

  • Comment removed

  • @missuntouchable24 HAHAno. I'm right. as always.

  • @artielove96

No. Kesha was only singing the demo. And also, it's SM who bought the song, not SNSD.

  • @macheretaengoo I don't know what gave you the impression that I gave two shits about specifics and desire to be corrected. Because I don't, to either one.

  • @artielove96

Well, I just wanted to correct what was wrong so that other people won't misunderstand. It wasn't Kesha's song at the first place, so your STATEMENT was wrong.

  • first "I Just Wanna Dance", then it changed to "Just Wanna Wish"(First version of Korean song for snsd) but then changed again to "Tell Me Your Wish"(Final Korean Version) Right????

  • @slifer241987 This is true :) And they called it GENIE in japanese.

  • @Mainlless oh... yep i forgot about japanese ver tnx!!!

  • I loved!!!

  • Now I'm a Sone, a Wonderful, a fan of a lot of KPop.

But this song is really good and I really like what Miss Makoma did with it.

So thumbs up to SNSD and Nathalie Makoma for performing great songs.

  • Isn't it easier to just dance than grant someone's wish... I just wanna dance..

  • is this a translation? i find it hard to had a hard time with the lyrics thing with the Kesha and SNSD thing :p

  • LOVE BOTH SONG!! DONT BASH SONE'S! IM A SONE TOO

  • snsd's genie is original song.

Nathalie Makoma's I Just Wanna Dance is legal cover song. for detailed information, refer to the official site of composer "dsign music"

    --> dsign.no

  • i love nathalie jammer dat ze niet door gebroken is als ze mee had gedaan in amerika aan een talenten programma was ze echt doorgebroken jammer !

  • I love both versions!!!! as in love it!!! so fellow SONES and other fans please don't fight!!! Both artist's company legally bought the right to this song.. both are legal... okay.. just love both songs...... <3

  • never mind its good :)

    i like it haha

  • im a sone, i dont really like it.

but hey, the lyrics are perfect! and i really respect thats its her own song. shes very talented :3

  • I actually really like this version and I'm a DIE-HARD sone. Everyone should chill out even if they don't like this version. I really love this actually :P of course "Genie" is always number one but this girl has got a hell of a good voice and she did a damn good job singing this. And the lyrics fit and are great as well. Both versions are great, both singers are great...everyone take a deep breath and just breatheeee it out.

  • After listening to SNSD for so long, I just can't like this song in English. The Chorus aren't the same, but this girl did a DAMN good job with the lyrics. Her voice is amazing, too.

  • Stop comparing pls. Both artist are great, seriously. -.-

  • I DON'T GIVE A F***!!!! BOTH SONGS AREGREAT NOW SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!! THATS WHY YOU CAME HERE RIGHT??? >:D

  • @MatthewStreetFighter I KNOW RIGHT. Haish.

  • I love SNSD and their version also but the lyrics here have a better fit to the beat also Natahlie is a better singer XD

  • I like dis :D who cant? xD

  • This woman is a fantastic singer. I think this version is just as good as SNSD's. I'm a fan of both and I don't take bias over SNSD just because I heard their version better. I think this is far better than "pretty decent." SNSD isn't better just because they're SNSD.

  • maybe this can be used for SNSD's debut in US. english vs of genie

  • A non corny version in english!

Catchy, but I think SNSD is better.

  • Hey! I like the korean version better!

  • It's good that I could understand this version and it's a dance-dance song.. but I love Taeyeon's powerful voice esp. in Genie and who could forget Fany's adlibs in this song? soo yeah :D let's just enjoy the muuusic XD

  • omg this is just as good as girl's generation, even better because it's in english lol. i love snsd but this is good too!

  • SNSD FTW!

Genie is Way Better >'oo !

  • she did pretty good but i still love snsd's version better!

i heard it first and it made me fall in love with it!

    this is pretty decent though:)

  • well i happen to have heard SNSD's version first and i do think it is awesome but this is a good version too. still, i go for girls generation n.n

  • The collaboration is what draws me to SNSD's version. The pumping bass and the fact that this one is english draws me to this one. SNSD will always be my bias, but I love this version.

  • i dance genie while listening to this song lol....love it

  • Snsd also did a remix called Tell me your wish (I just wanna wish). And even though snsd sang it first, they both still work for the same company and Nathalie was aproved to sing the song with different lyrics. :)

  • This isn't a cover. This is the original song. After SM Entertainment had purchased the rights to the song, the lyrical story of the lyric was re-written with additional composition by Yoo Young-jin, and the melody arranged by Yoo Han-jin. It's Girls Generation who did a cover but I still like theirs better.

  • I miss Tiffany.....DJ Put it back on....^^

  • snsn's genie is original song composed by dsign music.

Nathalie Makoma's I Just Wanna Dance is legal cover.

check out dsign music's official site.

    dsign.no

  • Me encanta el sonido de antro :D

  • Thumbs up if SNSD bought you here.

  • i like this version more then snsd

  • I also prefer SNSD, because it's not a one girl show instead of SNSD :S I don't know the multiple singers are fitting better to the song than her. It's my opinion and I don't care which song is the original one Oo I mean, everyone has their own opinions about the song, there's no need to fight about a song Oo

  • o.o Souns......weird oô I PREFER SNSD ♥♥♥

  • This is actually really good, didnt think i would like it. Lol. But no one can do this song better then SNSD!! Although I am definately biased towards them... Haha <3

  • That's not bad :) but i prefer SNSD XD

  • SNSD's version is not the original version. The English version (this version) was sold to SM, and they changed the lyrics for obvious reasons. SNSD came out with the song first, but you guys gotta stop acting like they produced it.

  • Forever a S<3NE, but I'm digging this. :)

  • To be honest, I like this more then SNSD' version lol

  • the home page said Dsign is exclusively signed to Universal Music, which means that SM Ent bought the song from UM.

And the original song's title n lyrics was meant to be I Just Wanna Dance.

btw the team Dsign is Norwegian. Koreans are only imitating the song, not performing it in original form.

  • snsn's genie is original song, which was composed by dsign music.

Nathalie Makoma's I Just Wanna Dance is legal cover.

check out dsign music's official site.

    dsign.no

  • SNSD > Nathalie Makoma

    SNSD win

  • 9 bitches of SNSD can never match this European vocal powerhouse.

Koreans = attention whores based on sheer numbers. Just like Zerglings.

  • @chocomog257 What the fuck did you just say? Wow... You must have no Idea what you are saying... =)

  • this song is CATCHY too :) i'm a SONE .. BOTH VERSION have different style .. uniqueness :)

  • i said sowoneul malhaebwa at the beginning :<

  • THIS SONG IS ON SNDS!!! Genee !!! FUCK U BITCH!!!!!

  • @tooxiiCkiiss why are you being so rude? SME bought this song from Nathalie. This song was originally hers. SM just changed the lyrics why can't she release the song? it was hers to begin with so stop being a whiny bitch about it

  • @LunaCheri They didn't buy this song from Nathalie, but from a Norwegian production company. They wrote new lyrics and their in-house producers edited the song. Nathalie later licensed the song as well through Sony, but kept the original English lyrics. Genie was released one full year before I Just Wanna Dance.

Those are all the facts on the song.

  • @LunaCheri Uh...This was all SMents...She bought it from them...Wrong way dude...

  • @LunaCheri this song was actually composed/written by dsign music company in ubekistan lyrics, and SME brought the rights thus making them the original owner of the song as well as universal music. this song is a licensed english version of genie which contain the original english lyrics before SME changed it. it may have the original lyrics but that doesn't make this originally hers, because it IS originally SMEs for purchasing the rights, besides she did not write or compose this song.

  • @LunaCheri if you're so genius, go wiki on in EINSTEIN! don't say things that you don't know.

  • @Shakhmarification wiki: Composed by Dsign Music (Anne Judith Wik, Robin Jenssen, Ronny Svendsen, Nermin Harambasic) and Fridolin Nordso. The song was originally titled "I Just Wanna Dance". After SM Entertainment had purchased the rights to the song On May 19, 2010 Dutch singer Nathalie Makoma released her second single named "I Just Wanna Dance",[28] which is a licensed version of Girls' Generation's Genie. Nathalie sings the original English lyrics that were written for the song.

  • @LunaCheri well, you got the point right? Dsign wrote the song, SME bought the music and make it to a korean language and not using the actual lyrics, SME owns it now. because they bought it. nathalie is singing THE Original Version, but now the music and stuff belongs to SME. get it?

  • @Shakhmarification that was my whole point from the beginning OK maybe i was wrong, i was told my friend alooong time ago that the song was nathalies. I dont see why you have to be a internet warrior about it.

  • @LunaCheri just spreading the fact not the scandal

  • @LunaCheri Actually they bought the song directly from the composer, it didn't belong to Nathalie until she bought the rights to the song and released it a year later.

So it wasn't hers to begin with, she's just singing the original lyrics.

  • @JoyeuseXI Well what SM did is they bought the original song (I Just Wanna Dance) and altered it for K-pop (Genie). It's like buying a car, then altering it. One could argue that SM bought the original song, but as soon as they changed the lyrics, what they had was no longer the 'original' song.

If you write a book, then someone else buys the rights to it, and changes what you wrote, do they really have YOUR work? Yes they own it, but they changed it, so it's not the 'original' anymore.

  • @ImGenieForSooyoung Well, yes, I'm aware of that. I never stated that SNSD's version matched the original work, as Nathalie's does.

Though, there isn't much of a relation to be made between rights to music, and rights to literature.

  • @LunaCheri WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA! hell no. this song is entirely snsds/sments! please!!! she was not the original and SME did not buy this! pfft. she ripped SME off and claimed it as her own which is why her OFFICAL music video was BANED for copyright grounds! get your facts right! sorry.

  • @AniimeKing

Dude, you suck ass. Get your facts right before you say anything else.

Natalie was originally going to sing this song, SME bought it over.

It has been confirmed and announced.

Although SME has the copyright to this song, it was Natalie who was supposed to sing it first.
