For more great footage from this period, have a gander at the film 'What's good for the Goose',(see what I did there?).Norman Wisdom & the lovely Sally Geeson wigging-out to Electric Banana at a basement Psych club.
Death - The Pretty Things [England] - 1968 - "One of my BEST. WEIRD but beautiful Psychedelic beat, story." - The Psychedelic Years (Snapper Disc 1)-2001.
"Voici maintenant un groupe fabuleux qui nous vient tout droit de Londres: les Pretty zings!"
The song is entitled "Death" and is part of the classic album "S. F. Sorrow", the first concept album issued a couple of months before The Who's Tommy and the Kinks'Arthur, all three masterpieces of rock.

i love this because it is simple hippie punk ideology to me..i love hippies and i love people..i love people who sings stuffs like this..this is my heart..salute!
Just got "S.F. Sorrow." Friggin' brilliant album! Such a shame that this didn't go down in time like "Pepper" or "Piper" by Floyd. Then again, "Piper" might not have done what it did had it not been for Floyd's later success. That album could have been an obscurity as well!
I know! I just found these guys by fluke. SF Sorrow is a really great album. So many good songs and cool textures. If it was recorded when wiki says it was recorded it was definately ahead of it's time by a couple years at least.
I agree. While I like the Who's Tommy, S.F. Sorrow is better (in my book) and it was first. I think the Who got their inspiration from Sorrow and The Attack's Mr. Pinodmy's Dilema (just listen to that one!). Anyway, glad to see others digging this fantastic band.
Rare Stuff...but a llip synch...no sitar for a start and no key boards...but the Pretties never could reproduce this album live...its impossible...i..too many instrumments...not enough players
Awesome!! love this album - would give my left nut to have been at this show, thank you for posting this. very rare to see footage of S.F. Sorrow material.
S.F Sorrow was far from their first album. Their first album was called The Pretty Things. S.F Sorrow was their fourth studio album. Sorry for being a know it all, but I love the pretties, so these things are important..sad I know, but true..
Fantastic footage, too bad that they mime to the record,I think this comes from tout en scenes...Looking forward to hearing this performed live @ shepherds bush in January 2009
I think this is from 1968, the year SF SORROW was released, also you can see TWINK on drums and he never lasted that long...maybe he was still there by early 1969...

The Song is called "Death" but S.F. Sorrow was on their 4th album. There is a new live recording of that song on the CD
"Ressurection" and there is also a DVD from that live show.
The band is performing in March/April in Germany.
