  • the salamander part sounds live.

  • Glasscock, what a combination of melody and precision he was!

  • Perdon-Si, es angela allen. Que tipazo tenía.Yes she is angela.

  • no me parece angela allen. parece otra cara. She is no Angella.

  • Thanks BEN!! THANKS !! I can't believe this !! I thought there was no bigger Tull fan than I...

  • Excellent recording - obviously an overdub, but a nice (albeit subtle) change from the studio recordings.

  • this is probably an overdub but it's definitely not the album version

  • from 9630 taxi night madrid city youtube...la honorable sociedad

  • Salamander reminds me of "Cold Wind To Valhalla" in the beginning of it.

  • @deweyfinn123

It's true, mate. And I feel that too since this album came out.

Both have the same rhythm and atmosphere :)

  • what album is this off please?

  • @ty3165 Too Old to Rock'n'Roll, Too Young to Die! - 1976

  • Nice sexy tophat and karate gi

  • No lip synching here. Ian live with the harp and Martin with the slide.....Good Stuff! Thanks for posting.

  • I thought they overdubbed the studio tracks on this for this TV special. David Rees said it was studio overdub on the liner notes of the 20 years box set.

  • You can really tell its studio overdub on the Big Dipper segment where he misses his vocals half way through in conjunction with the flute.

  • TAMY PAX.

  • I remember Ian said he picked up the flute cause he never would be as good on guitar as Clapton or Page. I think Clapton would be hard pressed to play some of the more intricate acoustic songs of Ians. Maybe I'm wrong.

  • You are selling EC short......but Salamandar is a masterpiece

  • @JuilliardReject im my honest opinion, clapton has some good songs and all, but people like him are pretty overrated. from what ive heard atleast. and at the same time, i find that jethro tull is an underrated and less popular band from those times. and im not just talking about ian, but the whole group, all around.. true musicians in touch with with different roots.. not blues and all that, like clapton..

  • @JuilliardReject Who is Clapton?. Almost everything Anderson did is extraordinary... almost everything Clapton did is .... maybe sufficient.... All the Best....

  • Right I am not saying this is live but it is definitely not the studio recording. Ian when he is lip synching always looks ill at ease, for example, The Witches Promise. It looks to me like he may be singing and playing harmonica live, to an overdubbed prerecording. Well that's my theory anyway. I have seen most of the Tull tribute bands and they do not come close to Ian and the guys, but if you want to see an absolutely stunning live cover of Salamander check out Jack Hicko. Great posting.

  • Andrea Vercesi's is even better than Hicko's. Check it out.

  • Looks like a bit of both to me; Martin's guitar sounds live alongside Ian's singing and flute, the bass and maybe the percussion? But I think Ian's guitar and some other little bits like harmonies are dubbed but it's still damn cool to see.

I would absolutely love to see this live with the current line up. Thanks for uploading.

  • John Glascock... an unknown hero of rock... somedy remember Carmen with Glascock and Allen?

  • Yes, John Glascock was amazing! I've got all the Carmen and Tull cd's he played on, as well as the gods and Toe fat. Have you watched the Carmen clip from David Bowie's Midnight Special floor show? Its a must see.

  • 5:45 woopsie!

  • eargasm!

  • creo que la chica que baila en salamander es Angela Allen... de Carmen, una exelente banda la cual tambien estaba John Glascock

  • i remember not likeing this album all that much becouse it didnt seen to rock like mintral or war child or any of the others only taxi grab and big dipper sort of rocked but of course years later i said "well ok this is a good album.

  • Fantastic i have been telling people for years about this show and the wonderful truly beautiful Cherry Gillespie. yes, it was a tv special on the commercial station ITV at the time of the Montreal Olypmics. BBC showed the Olypmics and ITV showed rock and pop concerts and specials in competition. Cheers Ben.

  • Probably one of THE most difficult accoustic songs to play on guitar, and they duet it in sync!!! Good GOD! Wow. Just.. wow. No recording studio trickery here, live. Amazing.

  • I believe this is the studio track as they are acting to it. I have this DVD and it is excellent. This was an English tv special I think. I believe its all studio and they are acting to it.

  • I always was Tullist but it was at the age of 41 that I really began to appreciate this album. Before I celebrated mainly A Passion Play and Minstrel... Now, without leaving these ones I really found this feeling that flows from this performance. Even if I am not able to understand all of its lyrics, because I am not an Anglo-Saxon. Thank you, Ben!

  • Love seeing John Glascock in this Taxi Grab video. He was an amazing bass player and made quite a contribution to this strong performing line up. He is greatly missed.

  • This is the first time that I see Martin Barre playing slide guitar (Taxi Grab)

    A metal slide... strange.

  • Martin plays slide on about a half dozen tull tunes

  • BenRossington, you are a hero.

  • Taxi grab is one of their best rockers. There was a time I used to play it every day full blast until my mother started to like it as well!Great song.

  • As good as it gets. Thanks Ben.

  • Wow! Excellent from Ben......
