Cokie Roberts is getting old and senile. The President's endorsement for building on that property was neither sought nor required; it is guaranteed and protected by our Constitution. For the President to do anything else would be an abject breech of his Oath of Office. Being sensitive, reverent, not having a thick skin, and swaying to the whims of public opinion are not things protected and guaranteed by the Constitution.
Any other interpretation then what Cokie is giving here is just utter sillyness, he wants to now say he was speaking in general terms about religious freedom but everyone know that that is a bunch of lies. Cokie is right "this" time, usually she is a democrat ass kisser.
Obama first endorsed it, then realized when he spoke against the will of 70% of the people, he backpedaled. Then, when he was called out for backpedaling, by both parties, he insisted that this is not what he did. You can't have it both ways, Barack. You endorsed the mosque, that's a fact. You backpedaled, and that's a fact. You're not even a strong enough leader to stand your ground, and that's a fact.
The tolerance of Islam in action: 'A man and a woman in their 20s have been stoned to death at the order of a local Taliban commander in northern Afghanistan, just a week after a pregnant widow was subjected to the same brutal punishment for alleged extra-marital relations', France 24. In Islam the only law is Islamic law, and America values must comply or be destroyed, like on 9/11.

@knopjetty - Very true, and I will elaborate.

"I will side with the Muslims if the political winds shift in an ungly direction."
Pg 261 of Barack Hussein Obama's self-serving auto-biography "The Audacity of Hope" named after a Jeremiah Wright lecture.
