Sarang, IDK about Doug (Matt), but I read somewhere that Thomas Calabro (Michael Mancini) had appeared in every episode of the orignial Melrose. That series started off slow, but became "must watch", and I'm sory to see its prodigy fare so poorly in comparison. Those soaps were great then, but NOW??? I would cry if anyone put together a crappy NEW version of Dynasty.

Melrose Place was one of the greatest tv shows of the 90's - much better than overrated Beverly Hills 90210! Alison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) and Jake (Grant Show) were my 2 favorite characters from start to finish. I still can't believe they didn't get together.
Sydney (Laura Leighton) deserved much better ending - such a cuttie character.

but the fact that there was only 1 black character that season is disheartening. its not about "pulling" the race card but is about showing how much the times have changed. i am a black woman and i watched this show because it had a good plot but it was definitley geared towards a different audience.
yeah and you need to ask yourself, why is it that vanessa williams left after one season... because she realized that this show lacked diversity and catered to an audience who couldnt appreciate that..

I am not an american and where I come from we don't have these shows(Beverly Hills 90210 & Melrose Place) but I'd heard 'bout them. So I came here to check'em out. The theme music for Beverly Hills is awful. I was really disappointed. This show on the other hand has a great tune. Rob Estes is really cool. A friend of my elder brother looks a lot like him. Alyssa Milano - I never really understood what the big deal was. Am I the only one or Grant Show really looks like Jensen Ackles?
Kristen Davis and Marcia Cross still are hot today. I miss this show. The 2009 version wont have nothing on the 90's version just like todays version of 90210 has nothing on the 90's version of 90210.
I hope the new MP won't be as boring as the new 90210. Melrose Place always had a good cast and talented actors and great storylines. The new MP has all of these I think. So it will be a great show too!

One of my favorite shows of all time. Jake and Alison were my favorite characters but I adore many others --- Michael, Jo, Sydney, Kimberly, Lexi, Ryan, Peter, Taylor.... Megan and Jane were my least favorite characters.

I beg to differ. Brooke seem to be one of the few characters on the show who was interesting to me. I think the way she acted was the way they wanted her to be. A spoiled rich kid who never had to grow up.
The show started out kind of nice and homely then it slowly turned nasty - everyone was psycho! There'd be a new character and they'd be nice talking to someone who says 'goodbye' and leaves, then the camera would zoom in on them looking evil.
I watched MP on and off, and I remember all of the actors except one - John Haymes Newton - who did he play on the show had how long was he on for? He's good-looking and that first clip he kind of reminded me of Clive Owen! I guess that means that I'll just have to buy the seasons that are out on DVD. Of the guys, Grant Show, Andrew Shue and Patrick Muldoon were my faves, while Josie Bissett, Brooke Langton and Courtney Thorne-Smith were my fave gals. Thanks for the memories!

Yeah, you're right. Overall I did like Kelly on 90210, except in seasons 3 & 4 when she was just jealous of Brenda during those 2 years. I like Kelly better after the 4th season, she wasn't as selfish. But Kelly definitely didn't deserve to be raped or shot, that wasn't right.
i copletely agree with you. I didnt like kelly either when she was a bitch to brenda. even after she got dylan she seemed to want brenda out of the way. people say brenda was the bitch on 90210 but i think kelly was worse during those years. After brenda left i liked kelly, she became a lot nicer and i always cry when i watch the episodes she was raped on. It´s so awful.
Yeah! Although after I started to like Kelly again in season 5, I didn't like Dylan much anymore. He was jealous of Brandon and Kelly's relationship, which for the record we all know Kelly really loved Brandon more. It seems that at different times on the show Kelly and Dylan were just jealous of their best friends' relationships. But maybe those two deserved each other cuz they were similar in that way. Ha ha.
Grant Show quit the show because he didn't like his storylines for season 5 (being paired with Alison). He later regretted quitting as he's never had that success again. lol.
@radfordkelly In all fairness though, I can't blame Grant for quitting when he did. If you watch season 5, Jake and Allison's storylines were almost completely removed from the rest of the cast. While everyone else was doing the fun and wicked stuff like cheating and lying, Allison & Jake has returned to season 1 mode with the borring everyday life storylines like getting married, having kids, and buying a new house. And they had very little interaction with the other characters.

best seasons 3 and 4h?? But it was just because the 1st and the 2nd... was son nice to see the evolution of the characters... That was why Melrose was so great on seasons 3 and 4. Because on seaons 5,6 and 7, they did the same than in seasons 3rd and 4th, but the characters werent not very much developed to understand their crazy stories.
The best Melrose Cast was from seasons 3,4 and 5. Marcia Cross wasn´t added until season 4, never really understood it since she was a key character from the end of season 2, when she returned from the dead xD. Patrick Muldoon was there practically two whole seasons and wasn´t included. Anyway, Michael Mancini was my favorite, he rocks!!
Kudos for not putting Vanessa Williams in the lycra. I think I watched pretty much every episode but James Newton seems to be completely wiped from my memory banks. Can't remember much of Charvet's character either. If I had to pick a fave over the course of the show, it'd be Michael Mancini. Some tough competition however. I once read a magazine article about a woman who was suicidal and the only thing that kept her going was finding out what was to happen on the following week's MP.
I've never really watched this show before, but I recognize so many names. Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives, Kristin Davis from Sex and the City, Alyssa Milano from Charmed, Vanessa Williams from Ugly Betty and Kelly Rutherford from Gossip Girl. This show was a little before my time. :D
I am the biggest Melrose Place fan there is but God it's a very white show. I also think the African-American, Latino characters all faced an ultimely demise as did the redheads in the show. Bring it back though. classic.
I think melrose Place would have been better if vanessa Williams had stayed in the show, because she was African-American. Every show has to contain at leats one African-American character.
I'm Hungarian. 'm heard that Amy Locane was written out due to her accent, but her Hungarian dubbing voice was so great. And Amy Locan has a great mimicry. If only Sandy had returned in thesecond season when Kimberly fell into coma. I think her character was great.

I thought it was a shame that Amy Locane and Vanessa Williams were written out of the show. There was so much they could have done with their characters.
I was back-watching Melrose Place Season 1 and I noticed that before Vanessa's character was written out, she had too few a scene from Episodes 14-31. Such a shame...her last scene only implied that she's going to get married but never gave us a clue that she will leave Melrose by season's end. Was she given ofscreen reference on season 2?
I LOVED MP, it was my alltime favorite TV show ever. I was so sad when they ended it...been watching the old reruns on Soapnet (channel 188 on Dish Network). My favorite characters were Michael and Sydney, they were funny and so stupid at times lol. I thought Jake and Kyle were so hot! I wish they could make an MP reunion somehow.

but the fact that there was only 1 black character that season is disheartening. its not about "pulling" the race card but is about showing how much the times have changed. i am a black woman and i watched this show because it had a good plot but it was definitley geared towards a different audience.

yeah and you need to ask yourself, why is it that vanessa williams left after one season... because she realized that this show lacked diversity and catered to an audience who couldnt appreciate that..
so glad the new version of this has upgraded.. we've got characters of different ethnicities now thank god... and also on the new 90210.. phew.. thought we were gonna be stuck in the stone ages forever

How come Vanessa Williams gets so little screen time compared to everyone else? Probably 'coz she's black. Racism - what a huge turn off. Always liked Courtney Thorne Smith, Marcia Cross and Kristin Davis. By the way, Laura Leighton is so beautiful. I wish I had a woman like that in my life.

I am not an american and where I come from we don't have these shows(Beverly Hills 90210 & Melrose Place) but I'd heard 'bout them. So I came here to check'em out. The theme music for Beverly Hills is awful. I was really disappointed. This show on the other hand has a great tune. Rob Estes is really cool. A friend of my elder brother looks a lot like him. Alyssa Milano - I never really understood what the big deal was. Am I the only one or Grant Show really looks like Jensen Ackles?

I hope the new MP won't be as boring as the new 90210. Melrose Place always had a good cast and talented actors and great storylines. The new MP has all of these I think. So it will be a great show too!

One of my favorite shows of all time. Jake and Alison were my favorite characters but I adore many others --- Michael, Jo, Sydney, Kimberly, Lexi, Ryan, Peter, Taylor.... Megan and Jane were my least favorite characters.

Well, I loved Kristen Davis, Marcia Coss and Laura Leighton the most in MP.. I hope they bring back a couple of the original actors. Without them the new Mp wont be that great... and they should stick to the Melrose storylines. Backstabbing... cheating and lying. I am so happy about the MP remake.

I beg to differ. Brooke seem to be one of the few characters on the show who was interesting to me. I think the way she acted was the way they wanted her to be. A spoiled rich kid who never had to grow up.

The show started out kind of nice and homely then it slowly turned nasty - everyone was psycho! There'd be a new character and they'd be nice talking to someone who says 'goodbye' and leaves, then the camera would zoom in on them looking evil.

I watched MP on and off, and I remember all of the actors except one - John Haymes Newton - who did he play on the show had how long was he on for? He's good-looking and that first clip he kind of reminded me of Clive Owen! I guess that means that I'll just have to buy the seasons that are out on DVD. Of the guys, Grant Show, Andrew Shue and Patrick Muldoon were my faves, while Josie Bissett, Brooke Langton and Courtney Thorne-Smith were my fave gals. Thanks for the memories!

they always pick one of the characthers to be the victims. like kelly was on 90210, everything that can happen to a person happened to her. etingdisorders, misscarriage, joined a cult, caught in a fire, raped, shot... I guess Jo was that person on MP

Yeah, you're right. Overall I did like Kelly on 90210, except in seasons 3 & 4 when she was just jealous of Brenda during those 2 years. I like Kelly better after the 4th season, she wasn't as selfish. But Kelly definitely didn't deserve to be raped or shot, that wasn't right.

I didnt like kelly either when she was a bitch to brenda. even after she got dylan she seemed to want brenda out of the way. people say brenda was the bitch on 90210 but i think kelly was worse during those years. After brenda left i liked kelly, she became a lot nicer and i always cry when i watch the episodes she was raped on. It´s so awful.

Yeah! Although after I started to like Kelly again in season 5, I didn't like Dylan much anymore. He was jealous of Brandon and Kelly's relationship, which for the record we all know Kelly really loved Brandon more. It seems that at different times on the show Kelly and Dylan were just jealous of their best friends' relationships. But maybe those two deserved each other cuz they were similar in that way. Ha ha.

same goes to the character Jake, i know he left to be with his family but the closure given to him was, for me, not fulfilling.
I somehow observed that some of those who left tend to have their characters not connecting a lot with the other main cast.

Grant Show quit the show because he didn't like his storylines for season 5 (being paired with Alison). He later regretted quitting as he's never had that success again. lol.

@radfordkelly In all fairness though, I can't blame Grant for quitting when he did. If you watch season 5, Jake and Allison's storylines were almost completely removed from the rest of the cast. While everyone else was doing the fun and wicked stuff like cheating and lying, Allison & Jake has returned to season 1 mode with the borring everyday life storylines like getting married, having kids, and buying a new house. And they had very little interaction with the other characters.

best seasons 3 and 4h?? But it was just because the 1st and the 2nd... was son nice to see the evolution of the characters... That was why Melrose was so great on seasons 3 and 4. Because on seaons 5,6 and 7, they did the same than in seasons 3rd and 4th, but the characters werent not very much developed to understand their crazy stories.

The best Melrose Cast was from seasons 3,4 and 5. Marcia Cross wasn´t added until season 4, never really understood it since she was a key character from the end of season 2, when she returned from the dead xD. Patrick Muldoon was there practically two whole seasons and wasn´t included. Anyway, Michael Mancini was my favorite, he rocks!!

Kudos for not putting Vanessa Williams in the lycra. I think I watched pretty much every episode but James Newton seems to be completely wiped from my memory banks. Can't remember much of Charvet's character either. If I had to pick a fave over the course of the show, it'd be Michael Mancini. Some tough competition however. I once read a magazine article about a woman who was suicidal and the only thing that kept her going was finding out what was to happen on the following week's MP.

I am the biggest Melrose Place fan there is but God it's a very white show. I also think the African-American, Latino characters all faced an ultimely demise as did the redheads in the show. Bring it back though. classic.

I think melrose Place would have been better if vanessa Williams had stayed in the show, because she was African-American. Every show has to contain at leats one African-American character.
I'm Hungarian. 'm heard that Amy Locane was written out due to her accent, but her Hungarian dubbing voice was so great. And Amy Locan has a great mimicry. If only Sandy had returned in thesecond season when Kimberly fell into coma. I think her character was great.

I was back-watching Melrose Place Season 1 and I noticed that before Vanessa's character was written out, she had too few a scene from Episodes 14-31. Such a shame...her last scene only implied that she's going to get married but never gave us a clue that she will leave Melrose by season's end. Was she given ofscreen reference on season 2?

I LOVED MP, it was my alltime favorite TV show ever. I was so sad when they ended it...been watching the old reruns on Soapnet (channel 188 on Dish Network). My favorite characters were Michael and Sydney, they were funny and so stupid at times lol. I thought Jake and Kyle were so hot! I wish they could make an MP reunion somehow.
