  • @RBCHILD4EV haha shame the boring stiffies sitting on the stage didn't have the same idea

  • wow watchin lionel take over the band, he goes from the handsome dude on the horn to THE MAN. Just sayin who leads the band after this?

  • groovey baby!!!lov the outfits

  • Thomas mcclary is on the drums

  • I want those yellow glasses!

  • Lionel shoulda stuck with the Commodors and Funk music, his solo stuff sold a lot, but was pathetically lame.

  • I love this era of music. Funk was soo awesome!!

  • @mustangpatty51 was? Funk IS awesome

  • LOL !

  • MAN, 2 IDIOTS SOMEWHERE--DONT LIKE THIS---YOU HAVE LOST YOUR DAM MINDS!!!!!

  • @MsCargento BRAVO!!!! LOL!! 2 idiots just ain't HOT!!

  • And Lionel Richie hasnt been black ever since these days

  • 2 words....Walter Orange

  • @PugSleasy this is actually pretty good way to explain lionel...when i listened as a kid (my fave group all time since i was 8yrs) i thought he sounded really funky ...as i listen now he sounds like he was trying really hard to be funky lol...and he has admitted that he modeled his style after sugar or whatever his name is from ohio players

  • @gdub520 Sugar = Leroy Bonner

  • @woodie62 Was that the 'Sugar' that sang for the Ohio Players?

  • @Melbow14n Sugar = Leroy Bonner? Yes! He played guitar for the Ohio Players, yes!! He and Lionel did sound a lot alike. Another lead singer who mimed that sound was Larry Dotson (Bar-Kays) Listen(if you can find it) to a tune they recorded called, "Holy Ghost."

  • @gdub520

Well, he did it well. I don't even remember the other guy.

  • Lionel never claimed himself loyal to any particular brand, how could he have sold out? I still have this on 45 amazing. And, yes they were good back then.

  • What I've found out just now is that I like those songs best where Lionel Richie isn't the main vocalist.

  • @kax61 Lionel was a good love songster, and not too bad of a uptempo one either. But uptempo Commodores tunes belonged to Clyde!!!

  • @woodie62 ....believe me, lionel knew clyde was the man....i read an article once when i was a kid where he described walter's voice as 'grits and molasses' i asked my mom what the heck that meant and she told me it basically meant that lionel was describing clyde's voice as 'rough and smooth' at the same time...still didn't understand since i was so young but i never forgot it lol

  • hang on... what's with the random modern-day tv show panel shots? That's not 1977! What tv show was this? And why were they playing exerpts of incredible funk (not that I'd be complaining)

  • It is the best! Styling, music, moves colors and above all real blowing copper! Should be educated in all schools! Not kiddin you ;)

  • Lionel didn't sell out - he just fell in love.... So jon-silence please.

  • Now THIS is some baddass oldschool funk...before Lionel sold out. Compare this to Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" and you'll see where WC got their inspiration.

  • This is back when Lionel was black.

  • gracias a dios son los commodores jejej,,,,, Thank good it's friday

  • This was a number one song on Billboard for the Commodores.

  • The 70's were the Commodores Hey Day. Back when they were Funky and Groovi'n to the Beat.

  • I had a pair of those giant sunglasses!!!!

  • lionel was the horn player when he first joined the group

  • This is just too funky... gotta hit the dance floor!

  • I love this song. Look at Milan with those sunglasses looking like a little kid. And go Clyde working this song.

  • great band... not the best song. that one sound when the beat drops is awesome though. you her it during :54

  • Fantastic song, and those huge glasses, well I'm guessing they must of been the rage for 1978 as Con Funk Shun wore them on Soul Train performing Fun Fun Fun, now days girls wear blowfly glasses lol. Seriously, this is a great piece of funky disco music!

  • @typicalaussiebloke funny cause now the big glasses look is back lol

  • That song was on THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY (1978) it was a disco dud.

  • The song is bumping. The Commodors lokk stiff and tired and seem to be just possing in their outfits.

  • the look stiff because they probably don't hvae enough room on that stage to move around! ha ha ha-but i think they did a great job here.

  • Awesome! Diggin the outfits! Say, on a side note: did anyone else notice that Thomas McClary is absent?

  • yes-Thomas Mclary is missing. this is around the time he sliced up his hand accidently while trying to remove a glass from a dishwasher.

  • @WannaBeFreeToKnow ..isnt he one the drums in this one?

  • @MrBenthere2 Lionel was on the saxaphone. He is the second guy on the left.

  • @alicejga wasnt nothing like the commodores for real..

  • Where's the rest?
