@1800Snikers I think they meant though its ironic in the sense that it seems to be something opposite then the main refrain describe it to be. For instance "you want everything to be just like the story that you read but you never write/ can't write" as if to scold someone for expecting too much from a relationship. It acknowledges that yes, maybe they were happy at one point, and in that sense they always will be, but not necessarily in literal, grow old together kind of way

I can hear some UK flavor as well. Which is exceptional seeing that Jack sound is dominantly American. Anyway, if it is in the english languge the motherland for popular music is the United States! Just ask the beatles, the stones, zepplin, etc. Admittedly, some good music has come out of the Uk, but don`t get carried awayl It shouldn`t even be mentioned in the same breath as the states.
