@tigersforchrist haha your confused.. i dont believe in modern religion, yet i believe we are ALL the sons of god since god created us in his image hence we are all co-creators. heaven and hell are all a state of mind.
science can only explain our physical world, not other realities or the spiritual world.the physical laws here don't apply in the afterlife.guess he'll find out for himself when the time comes....all of us will.
I'm prettY sure there is something after death maybe a higher lvl who knows, like this did you know you was alive when you was in your mom, did you know the stars water animals bugs existed no you didn't , it's a great mystery but hey like being born we will die no see hehe
Only a REAL FOOL would claim there is no God! Man creates awesome skyscrapers, fake hearts, tunnels, vehicles etc.. If we are very imperfect then what more can God create THE UNIVERSE! You must accept Jesus Christ as your Savior to receive eternal rest in heaven! Simple! John 3:16 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him! Repent & accept Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ or HELL?!? Visit cbn. com
You will make the assumption that, those people with the most physical disabilities will develop a more of a spiritually awakening.Or grow and mature spiritually.
But this moron of an intellectual Hawking has proved that theory wrong.
I would think the heaven described in the Bible would be very apealing to stephen hawking as it says we shall be like the angels, no sickness or defects, if he believed in Jesus he could one day be whole and strong and happy.
@melissa12300 It would also be very appealing for me to have all the money and fame in the world, to be loved by everyone and to do whatever I want, all the time... But just because it appeals to me, doesn't mean that I believe it's going to happen.
@khazal12 Well naturaly ones desire for something is not going to make it materialize, I sincerely hope it was not my comment that opened your eyes to this truth. However heaven is real weather he or anyone else accepts it or not. I think he would be more willing to accept it because it promises life without pain.
@melissa12300 No it wasn't, but it's a nice way of putting it :) When you become immersed in cosmology, physics and science in general, it becomes difficult to believe those kinds of things, whatever they promise. Pascal's wager isn't really enough to bring about belief, let alone the simple promise of something without objective evidence, as opposed to the subjective evidence that many, if not all religions claim to have.
@khazal12 What you say is true, and makes arguing dificult, to the point of an old saying; "With faith, no proof is necessary, without faith, no proof is possible" Basically, I know I can never argue anyone into believing, many people want God to show Himself saying then they would believe, but they wouldn't because God has shown Himself many times. Jesus said seek and ye shall find, it's the way God wants it, he said my sheep hear my voice, not everyone is granted to "see" God as were.
@melissa12300 the statement 'God has shown himself many times' is heavily subjective, it's more of an opinion than a fact. But no need to get into that. You're very mature in your responses (good grammar aside) and that's nice to see. And seriously, not to sound condescending, it's whatever makes you happy :) Religion has helped a lot of people, and I'm all for being happy.
I got here from the clip "When Stephen Hawking was Talking." Maybe there is a reason the Lord God took away this fool's voice! He will be a believer the second his heart stops beating. Sadly, it will be too late for Dr. Hawking. :-(
@5786Dan No God would punish someone for rejecting Himself, His love, His mercy, His deliverance from sin. Hawkings suffering may not be the result of any sin at all but blaspheming God will certanly not help him.
@melissa12300 You're missing my point. Hawkings has used logical reasoning and evidence to come to the conclusion that there is no God and now religious people say God will punish him for going against christianity. I'm implying that he will be punished for using his brain essentially.
Bit ridiculous; Mr Hawkings once said that there must have been a God, but he is now dead. Then he backtracked. However, I read on New Scientist a few months back that physicists are coming to realise that the Universe without some form of a creator is impossible.
Isaiah 65 verse 1 in the holy bible through this scripture you can't really debate about if Jesus is the son of GOD or if he is the only way to heaven. God can really respond to those who personally ask him today. 100% guarantee you will get an answer from him personally. it says it clearly in scripture. So go ask.
If someone were to tell a visitor from another universe about our own, they might reply that it sounds like a fairytale for people that are afraid of the dark, so fantastic is it in its incredible manifestations of planets, moons, suns, galaxies, galactic clusters, supernovae, etc. Arguing from incredulity, as Hawking is, strictly speaking, doing here, is a logical fallacy.
Being under deep anaesthesia is about as close to death you will get without being dead. Do you remember anything, or spiritual aware of anything? The human brain is one of the most complex things in the universe, if your soul, mind, or what ever you want to call it can exist after brain death, then why do we need a brain in the first place?
@tommeasor Every experience you've undergone is a form of energy, and is bound to you by the principles of frequency relationship, and exists in a harmonic multiple of this dimension. Your consciousness exists as a human form because its what it has evolved into up to this point. However, once you die, all of those experiences, as energy wave forms bound by thermodynamics and frequency relationship, must live on, and reattune themselves onto another human anatomy at some point in the future.
@BoazEnochjoseph what? it already did. altruism isn't some magic fuzzy feeling, it's a concept that many social creatures share for obvious survival/protection purposes.
@BoazEnochjoseph Your morals could be completely different to mine, I could want to murder and rape because I think it's the "right" thing to do, you disagree. So who's morally superior? You? The Theist chooses to treat people well because he is bound by the fear of God(s), of burning for all eternity. The Atheist chooses to treat people well because he sees suffering and pain to be unnecessary and not beneficial to the survival of our species. The Atheists reasoning is why morality exists.
God does not need to be proven. Common sense is what Stephen hawking lacks. True intelligence is a combination of things common sense would tell this man science is not the way to understand God. God is omnipresent. The alpha and omega God has created peasants like hawking for many generations who think science is a explanation of things that r. Silly humans easily manipulated by science.
Do not listen, he is intentionally disinforming and works for the Pope under the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. Look it up. Then look up revolutionary scientist and what their views are. I wonder what he gets in return for spouting off athiestic crap. With authoritarian theists. A smart man takes neither sides, but finds an integrative meaning. Who said stephen hawking was smart. He had not one contribution, therefore, why he is a speaking figure has a simple answer. Back to pope.
This man should have died years ago. He's been in a wheelchair for a very long time and has to communicate through a computer. Do you think he's worried that god dealt him a very harsh card? No. He gets on with learning all that he can about our beautiful and fascinating world, so that he can educate us all. I think it's safe to say he's a pretty reliable source.
Mr. Hawking is probably one of the smartest humans alive, and by neglecting his knowledge you're simply being ignorant. He once said that there's a difference between religion, which is based on authority, and sience, which is based on observation and reason. He has never said that god doesen't exist, but as he sees it, it's not really any need for one. Believing in something beautiful is great IMO, but letting faith stand in your way from exploring our grand universe is just ridicoulus.
@Nasjonalblomsten you make a valent point but stephen hawking did say that God does not exsist.Quote-"One can imagine that God created the universe at literally any time in the past. On the other hand, if the universe is expanding, there may be physical reasons why there had to be a beginning. Theirfore, the idea of God is as the same of the idea of nothing."-Stephen Hawking. He also just theroyilzes. The fact of the matter is do you look to the stars to disprove God.
We're in the year "2012" and almost every comment i've read here was written by a religious, uneducated kid that apperantly can't think for himself, and I am proud to participate in this astonishing moment.
So..... Who made those laws that govern the universe? Laws without a Lawmaker? Sounds impossible.... I'm sad that this man has no hope. In heaven, all things are made new. It's too bad he's opting out. Stuck in the dark, so to speak. This kind of response to God or eternity is usually born of anger. I'm sorry for that too.
as long as he denies Gods existence, and leans towards his own theories as fact, he is not going to have to be concerned with an afterlife, cuz he wont have one..................
this is why he is the way he is , crippeled ,a plant, need some one to feed him, clothe him,WIPE HIS ASS,its becuase he's a stupid atheist .
It's a pitty that with all the knowledge he has he cant acknowledge a simple fact as clear as the sun itself, that God,the one the only created everything.
its because of god love and mercy he is still talking "although like a robot" but atleast he can.
@wkadd I'm an atheist and my body functions perfectly fine. God must be a prick if he punishes advanced primates who choose to live their lives attempting to contribute greatly to functioning society. After all, if God made everything, he made the free-will Hawking exercises in choosing atheism.
Dear Mr Hawking, I cannot prove the existence of God. You base your reasoning on physical laws. As we know, we do not know everything, thus we cannot make statements of truth on everything. The only way of denying, then, the existence of something we do not know would be through incompatibilities e.g. we indeed can deny the statement there is nothing beyond Earth since we do see there is. Can you, or such laws, deny HIS existence? If so, could you please prove it? Thank you.
@JaimeinUK We now know the thousands of gods throughout recorded history were nothing more than products of human ignorance & imagination. The god of whichever of the world's current religions you apparently think does exist has not left us one shred of evidence. Therefore, until your god is seen dropping out of the clouds, *HE* belongs on the same shelf with the rest of humankind's mythologies.
"My view is that if there is no evidence for it, then forget about it." ~ Carl Sagan
Second: whatever people believe in God or not, have or had religions or not, the case remainss the same. God might exist or not regardless of your futile argument.
You were the one trying to make an argument, but failing miserably. The burden of proof always lies upon the one making the positive claim. All the while you admit to not having proof for the existence of "God", you nonetheless clearly believe him/it to exist. That's illogical and irrational, and is why the absurdity of god belief so often leads to neuroses and psychoses.
Oh, BTW, "One" is followed by "Two". "Second" follows "First".
@ClassAct95 There's a mountain of evidence supporting the *scientific* theory of evolution. It is the foundation of modern biology, and is used successfully each and every day in the engineering, design, and manufacture of such things as vaccines and medicines. Evolution is also a FACT! Deal with it, idiot.
I weary of these kind of futile conversations. go in peace and enjoy your existence. it will all be revealed to you at the appropriate time. good luck
@ClassAct95 Who/what do you suppose will do that reveal?
These "futile conversations", as you call them, are actually of great & valuable use. They expose the tragic lack of critical & logical thinking among today's masses, and how so many people are completely unable to separate their wishful [indoctrinated] superstitions from harsh reality. Perhaps some will learn important lessons from these conversations while the rest will continue to find virtue in their willfull ignorance.
@JesusSavesAtCitibank lessons will be learned that is for sure and certain. sadly it will be too late to recognise by that time to do the many who worship science as their god and their limited knowledge as supreme.
@ClassAct95 Nobody considers science as a god -- that's absurd. However, science has done much more for you than an imaginary god ever will. Without science, these [cyber] conversations of which you're a participant never would be possible. Clearly, you're quite fond of living in a fantasy realm and are therefore not ready for a lesson in reality. Good luck with that.
@AlanaPower111 Thank you for those pearls of ignorance. The age of the universe is 13.75 billion years. The age of the earth is 4.54 billion years. The age of homo sapien is no more than 200,00 years. It wasn't even until the late Archaean eon that an oxygen-containing atmosphere which human life requires began to develop on earth. Humans can't even adequately comprehend a relatively brief 1 million years, nevermind the dramatic changes which occur. So what took your god so long?
@AlanaPower111 What I stated is fact. However, those who are among the indoctrinated credulous are typically unable to recognize modern facts because their heads are stuck in Bronze Age fantasies.
You have to define what you mean by "God." Many of us believe in "God" but in different ways and forms. Again, our human method of communication with one another is limited due to our vocabulary that lacks correct words and meaning. This is why we had and continue to have so many problems in this world, we don't have the intelligence to be able to communicate effectively with one another and be able to understand what we are saying to each other. It's as if we all live in our seperate Universe.
why do we care what Hawkings has to say. if he said there is no God are we supposed to say ok if Steve says there is no God then I guess there is no God. I dont get it.. did God talk with Hawkings and tell him about the world. does he believe in the after life, because if he doesnt then I question his believes
@brpoole336 No, I'm sorry, but many times Dr. Hawkins doesn't know what he is talking about. You will see in a few years that most of his ideas about the Universe are wrong.
@brpoole336 what do you base your belief of an afterlive on? you can't say the bible, because that was just other people saying they think there might be an afterlife.
@kramnodd9 Interesting theory. But when you say 'we are all god' what definition is there for 'god'. God by definition is an omnipotent being, ruler of the universe, so in a sense that might be true, we are all part of this universe, however I think not just everyone, but everything is god. God is not the bigoted, sexist, vindictive control freak found in the bible or qur'an, god is nature, nature is everything. So... one should not be afraid of death, because death IS nature.
During a commercial break Charlie Rose had to wipe his mouth..Hawkings almost shorted out.He operates on 4 Ford hybrid car batteries. The amazing thing is that when he farts he elimates no fumes. At least he's doing something good for the climate.
okay now i understand one thing and i know it for a fact that...you can be the greatest physics ever but that has no association with smartnnest or whatsoever cuz look at what he says thats for people who are affraid from the dark...wtf. In one minute he made many people not to believe in god he destroyed them, cuz look at him he is a scientist who asssumed there is no god so he can find god and he never did cuz he set his mind in disbelief to find god and there he remained cuz belief is free
Fuck Stephen Hawking. He is a little crippled bitch who needs to kill himself. Which is impossible cause the cock sucker couldn't even hold a gun to his own head.
@ekohls94 stephen hawking is a greater person than anyone you have ever or will ever talk to.
you on the other side are an ignorant, disgusting internet tough guy making fun of one of the most intelligent people of all time who also suffers from one of the most terrible illnesses.
@utdfortreble He has no common sense. He has no heart but a coward to love science and never God. poisonous bullshit. His afterlife will be scientific !!!!!!!!
A. nope, scientists do not believe that, scientists know that humans and apes have a common ancestor, much like you and your cousin have a common ancestor. we evolved side by side.
B Evolution does not work in such a short space of time it is tiny changes over millions of years.
do you really think the cleverest people in the world would believe this, if it could be disproved so easily? evolution is a fact, god is a myth. enjoy life and do good.
@utdfortreble Evolution hasn't proofed just yet... it's a theory, meaning that on the chance where it IS fact, then at least we will understand it. Honestly, I don't wanna get into this debate too much... but DNA is a term used in Evolution quite a bit. Let's not forget that DNA is structured in a "coded" manner... meaning that Evolution + God (or some kind of creator) = a sensible outcome. I'm not saying that this is the case, but I'm saying that anything is possible, so why fight
@utdfortreble Do you genuinely believe that all of this happened by accident? Do you think that its an accident that they're are trees so that we can breathe, that the sun is the perfect distance away from the earth enabling life, that the moon and stars light up the sky at night, that we can experience emotion. The human body has been designed, the heart so that we can live, our eyes so that we can see, our mouth so that we can taste. Do you honestly believe that this all happened by accident?
@TheScarfaceNinja It might have been an accident that the first self replicating molecule or a RNA strand first came into existence i.e the first signs of life, but I assure you the rest did not. the way that trees are now, the way that we have intelligence and emotions are the results of evolution, each species adapt to their environment and evolve due to natural selection ( survival of the fittest) having intelligence or sight or taste is obviously an advantage, and therefore passed on.
@TheScarfaceNinja As for the planet's position in the solar system, we now have discovered many planets out side of our solar system that also lie in the habitable zone of their stars, and these are just planets that we can detect using a method that probably only can find a small fraction of possible planets out there.
@raykid1 Im not gonna try and force you to believe in it, evolution has never fully been proved and never will be and there is no concrete proof of a god either. That is what faith is all about, believing something without needing proof. You can list all the theories you want but if you honestly believe this is all a convenient accident then that's your choice. All i will say to you is this: you will see.
@utdfortreble Im sorry but how exactly whould you know what i know about science or the world? The fact that you need to swear just to make a point just makes you sound very unintelligent. I actually have respect for science and appreciate how it unravels the mystery of the universe. All im saying is what i believe. And to say that there is no evidence atall, if you read the bibles prophecies and then look at the worlds history they actually go hand in hand. Thankyou, have a good life.
@ClassAct95 You are no body and have no reputable creditably to support your claims. I will believe in the scientific community over a random theist who is scared to death of realizing all he has ever believed in is not true but in fact nothing more than bronze aged myths that have been outdated by science.
Does Stephen Hawking really not believe in an afterlife, or was the atheist computer speaking through him? Hawking maybe possessed by an evil computer program.
Well, I'm glad Hawkins is the final expert to solve the riddle even if he is just another man living in a body. When he is in spirit, then I'll listen to what he has to say.LOL. NO ONE human can prove to anyone else if God does or doesn't exist- that if a given. If God did come to you right now- how would you prove it? Few would listen, and fewer would believe you- so why argue about it? God did come to me and I believe in him, but I will never argue about it. It's between him and me.
i was a christian believer once so i can understand how someone can claim and defend their faith. Nevertheless I changed I am now a non believer and still live a happy life. The world and everything we know had changed and i am sure people soon will change for the good. Soon we will all practice no religion for the best of human and the universe. It is all possible
@12amnews "Soon we will all practice no religion for the best of human and the universe. " ..even for a stoner like me thats a pipe dream. But a world w/o religion is a (pipe) dream worth having, that I share with you as well. =)
When you die your program stops but it is and there is posibility to continue on new level of evolution. The individual can find truth by using his powers of observation and reason instead of blindly following tradition. Physics has been led down a blind alley. An example: we use mass " m " and equation E=mc2. But all are wrong about what we measure as mass. I know and if you know you will understand begining of Universe / not imperatively the part we know about. You will know what gravity. And.
I'm an agnostic. DOB: Jan 8th as S. I can explain all levels of evolution of Universe . I understand what next stage of evolution has to be. I do not know if there is any civilisation in Universe on this next level, becouse it responsibility would be to move life and procesing of information to other places of Universe. But i any case we all are parts of Universe. I think Universe is God. It is a quantum computer and your life is one of programs. Your body is a tool to serve your brain.
Hawking mentioned laws. The Universe, and everything in it, is governed by LAWS: without these laws there would be absolute CHAOS. Instead, our world - despite the havoc wrought by humans - functions smoothly, despite storms and cosmic occurences such as meteoritees etc.
Where would we be without gravity, for eg.?
ALL these LAWS serve not only humanity but all of nature....
And Hawking says: "There's not much room for miracles, for God"
Darkness, in reality, does not exist. There is no 'source' of darkness: you can only make things 'darker' by removing light. Darkness is merely the ABSENCE of light.
By the same principle, there is no cold, since cold is merely the absence of heat.
Finally, by the same principle, EVIL is the absence of GOOD.
What bugs me here is his arrogance. Death cannot be "dark" for dark is a phenomena and there is nothing to be scared of. Death cannot be no phenomena for no thing can't exist even in the slightest second and nothing is a meaningless human concept nonexistent externally and internally, so nothing can't ever be (except maybe before the Big Bang which gave birth to the all Being) therefore death must be not no phenomena but new phenomena.
What he says must be really scary for creationist who believe that if they will practice magic enough often than after they die they will be happy for hundreds of billions of years
Stephen said once that his dream is to understand Universe. I emailed him an offer : Ask me.
Stephen, Einstein, Green, Gross, Wilczek and more are wrong about Universe. They do not know what we measure as mass, do not know begining and they do not understand Universe as a perfect Quantum Computer. There is no afterlife bicouse when one dies his program of live stops. To continue the programs Universe needs to move to next level of evolution. Future of this who died depends on future generations
You can be the smartest man in the world... but if you say that "God does not exist" or "Heaven is a fairy tale" then you really aren't all that smart... think about it, who are you to say what's REALLY out there? One man can't be the voice of all of mankind which is why you cannot say that "God doesn't exist" and btw He does exist :)
@ixOr1onxi it's not up to me to prove anything but I've seen God work in people's lives, I've seen a hugee change in people that have come to Christ, athiests, Buddhists, etc. You can experience God in your life too, just sincerely ask Him into your life, sincerely ask Him to come into your heart. Look around, what do you see? Look at the universe, the Earth, nature, water, it's too perfect to not be created by God, but it's up to you.
@ixOr1onxi Lol I understand fully what the placebo effect is. But it's not a "placebo" because a placebo is something that gets you to believe in something that isn't physically true. However it is completely different in my faith, I'm not just a blind person walking and hoping to end up in the right place, I KNOW I'm on the right path, it was my decision to accept Christ. And yes the mind is a powerful thing, even Ph.D's in Neuroscience cannot fully understand it, and its similar with God.
He didn't say god does not exist. He acknowledges it can't actually be proved. You can't prove Santa Claus doesn't exist. Do you believe in Santa Claus?
@vancouvermild Lol well watch it again, he clearly states what I quoted... of course it can't be proven because no human has ever proven the existence of the spirit or another spiritual realm. Physically we can never prove these things as humans but until we leave this Earth we will never get to see. But by believing in Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we will get to see Him in Heaven one day. This is my faith and I believe it to the fullest, we won't see eye to eye on this one
I watched it again, and it didn't correspond to your quote "God does not exist"! He said "it doesn't leave much room for god". Anyhow, it's irrelevant. So you believe in the god of the bible and Jesus on faith? I know I can't change your mind, but blind faith isn't the path to truth - evidence is the path to truth. Many ancient Greeks had faith in Zeus and Hercules. Blind faith only comes up with uniformed conclusions, which is why faith is very culture-dependant.
Scientific evidence, on the other hand, draws the same conclusions WORLDWIDE independent of culture or society. I submit to you that you are merely a product of whatever culture or society you happen to be born & raised in. If born in Ancient Greece, you'd be worshipping Zeus & Hercules. I, on the other hand, have the capability of thinking outside the box, as I am an independent thinker. I can see the BIG picture.
@vancouvermild True, well said (my mistake on the quote). However I chose to believe in Jesus Christ not because of my culture but because of my faith and honestly I feel His presence (probably gonna sound crazy to you). Most of my extended family grew up in a Muslim/Hindu environment and we chose to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. My world opened up for me, I'm not "dreaming" or "hallucinating" it's very real. I appreciate that you can actually have a respectful conversation unlike some...
I appreciate the fact you realize I purposefully try to respect other people as human beings. Very good observation! Furthermore, I totally respect the fact that at least your initial culture revolved around the Muslim faith - but you've accepted Christianity instead. I still don't share your beliefs, mind you; but I respect it more when it at least somewhat resembles a true decision - rather than simply passing on the Muslim (or Christian) baton from generation-to-generation.
@vancouvermild Yes exactly! I can see where people are "forced" into faiths simply because it has been pressed upon them from birth. But with me it is my free will, my decision. I have seen the "light" and I grabbed at it right away. To me, God is very powerful, it's not about made up stories or trying to get myself to feel better. I honestly believe that there is life after death, Christianity is not based on a set of rules or obligations but rather having a relationship with God.
@spiritelspeth Continuing comment. Correction on last sentence, meant to say "We do have a lot of advancements to make yet." The thing is, science as you probably know, is ever evolving. Creating new theories to replace the old ones that aren't accurate. These are what we assume to be the truth till they are proven wrong. Hawkings logic is perfect when paired with the set of theories we have now. Perhaps he shall be proven wrong, don't make the mistake you thought he did. Good day!
@spiritelspeth Hmm, I think you may have something on the idea of laws undiscovered that would prove the afterlife. But, you made a little mistake. You must keep in mind that the Renaissance was the start of the rift in between science and religion. In other words, the "scientists" during that time all had a religious bias. The coming of scientists who separated the two was what spawned the theory that the earth was not in fact the center of the universe. We do have a lot of advancements yet.
I would ask Dr. Hawking if it is possible we have not yet discovered some of the physical laws which would prove the existence of the afterlife. Just recently scientists are considering the possibility of objects moving faster than the speed of light, something not believed possible half a century ago. After all, the greatest scientific minds in the world several centuries ago believed the sun revolved around the earth! Hawking is brilliant, but he's just a 21st century human being, after all.
it seems to me that someone who has been closer to death and even clinically experienced it would have more respect and truer knowledge about the afterlife than someone who has not been as close even if that person that was not as close was the most intelligent person in the world
@jayjoetube14 right, get a phd in astrophysics and/or quantum mechanics...then you can challenge him. Till then, your just another idiot who read the same fairy tale
@BLAMExTHExLAG why does someone who has a phd in astrophysics and or quantum mechanics have better say then "just another idiot who read the same fairy tale"?
You're the idiot because you and the atheist don't know where to go. I love having a God because my faith keeps me thinking positive which keeps me attracting positive energies.
@jayjoetube14 i love you ! :D dont let people say shit trying to get you down , thats the work of the devil, just ignore it and have confidence in yourself mate youll be fine :D
@kenleycloud . . . "Why would anyone go that route when they have more viable options for something to believe in" . . ?? Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, greek/roman/norse/aboriginal gods all rely on one thing . . faith. . "I just believe." Viable is not applicable to faith. Science looks for evidence, which creates viability and all evidence suggests a physical universe that is not interrupted by miracles.
I think its appropriate to only discuss books you have actually read. Its funny how americans think the afterlife is a place you go when you die not a place you can tap into right now......Christians that TRULY have FAITH in their God go to remote places where they know they will receive death and torrture for speading the gosple. now who is scared wheel chair man?
I am a contradiction. For the most part I am native american.... and german. I do pray to god most mornings and I also have to prove that there is a god. I am spiritual and also mathematic. The main thing is that I know we all are of eachother and the universe. YES, EVERYTHING IS ONE and it's beautiful.
@mailingshaun I'm not denying the fact that it's an amazing book. It contains epic stories, deep philosophy and wondrous, mystical magic and miracles. It should be viewed as a great piece of literature. You say the bible is true, implying either you know something the rest of the world don't, or you are delusional. I'd like to think you aren't delusional so could you show/link some verifiable evidence of some of the miracles in the bible? 2000 year old testimonies obviously not being verifiable.
@Madghaar Even when the Pharisees saw first hand the miracles of Jesus, they denied him. Did you know that your a miracle, and you still deny the evidence, because that then means you'll be held accountable for your sin. I would happy to provide all of these things for you, but I can't make you see. He's the only one that can convince you. Put your crown at his feet and you will "SEE"
My life is what the world would consider to be a HARD life. I'm surrounded by suffering on an epic scale. Faced with suffering day in day out I too consider my life to be a HARD one:-) BUT...I have JOY every day of my life, even in my suffering. And the other thing is peace. I'm at peace. I love life.
My life is what the world would consider to be a HARD life. I'm surrounded by suffering on an epic scale. Stephen Hawking calls the "after life" a fairy story. However, there are countless pieces of empirically recorded evidence with clinical hypnotherapy, NDE's, and case studies, where people have recounted incredible experiences. Furthermore, Hawking lacks the understanding to interpret these things, as he cannot project the possibility to begin with. Hammeroff and Penrose get these concepts. Hawking might be intelligent with mathematics, but consciousness does not seem to be his expertise.
Yea doctor we just appeared out of mid air and presto, a body was formed that can work on its own for years? It was all a freakish accident!!! We have no creator. The planet just revolves around year after year by freaken accident!! Why can't man admit we know little about the afterlife. And you DIPSHIT HAWKING didn't know shit about the afterlife. Talk about ignorance.
i know mr stenphen hawkins big intelligents, but journalist say what they want to do and want to say, more response it you can meet mr hawkins in personnality.
Nobody knows for sure until you hit the doorway on the way out whether or not there is an afterlife or not. No one has the answers and they never will until they die.
@cyberslick18 I can say a huge theory that i like or I can just explain it in short.
There is exactly no way to tell if our world, is real.
We could currently be in a situation of physical unawareness of our true mental state.
That we, as a people, are in a virtual simulation, like the Matrix. Instead of being harvested by our own robotic creations, we are being judged by our actions in this simulation, to see if we are truly fit for our real society. I have more but its 500 max
@cyberslick18 I only know what I believe and that is what is correct and proper for me... I cannot say for anyone else. We don't know until we die. If you are correct and I go into darkness and oblivion and that is it, well that is fine also... but I believe this existence is merely the foundation for a greater existence... I am not nearly as concerned about evidence or proof of either way to think... It is what it is...
@wey2xplusottjust4U Where is your proof Math exists? what? cause we see it? HAHAHA perhaps that's an illusion, like our consciousnesses is suppose to be hahaha. get over yourself.
WE WILL ALL SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE, UNTIL THEN IT REMAINS A MYSTERY
TO WHETHER OR NOT GOD'S REAL.

@melissa12300 It would also be very appealing for me to have all the money and fame in the world, to be loved by everyone and to do whatever I want, all the time... But just because it appeals to me, doesn't mean that I believe it's going to happen.
khazal12 23 hours ago
@khazal12 Well naturaly ones desire for something is not going to make it materialize, I sincerely hope it was not my comment that opened your eyes to this truth. However heaven is real weather he or anyone else accepts it or not. I think he would be more willing to accept it because it promises life without pain.
melissa12300 22 hours ago
@melissa12300 No it wasn't, but it's a nice way of putting it :) When you become immersed in cosmology, physics and science in general, it becomes difficult to believe those kinds of things, whatever they promise. Pascal's wager isn't really enough to bring about belief, let alone the simple promise of something without objective evidence, as opposed to the subjective evidence that many, if not all religions claim to have.
khazal12 22 hours ago
@khazal12 What you say is true, and makes arguing dificult, to the point of an old saying; "With faith, no proof is necessary, without faith, no proof is possible" Basically, I know I can never argue anyone into believing, many people want God to show Himself saying then they would believe, but they wouldn't because God has shown Himself many times. Jesus said seek and ye shall find, it's the way God wants it, he said my sheep hear my voice, not everyone is granted to "see" God as were.
melissa12300 22 hours ago
@melissa12300 the statement 'God has shown himself many times' is heavily subjective, it's more of an opinion than a fact. But no need to get into that. You're very mature in your responses (good grammar aside) and that's nice to see. And seriously, not to sound condescending, it's whatever makes you happy :) Religion has helped a lot of people, and I'm all for being happy.

@5786Dan No God would punish someone for rejecting Himself, His love, His mercy, His deliverance from sin. Hawkings suffering may not be the result of any sin at all but blaspheming God will certanly not help him.
melissa12300 22 hours ago
@melissa12300 You're missing my point. Hawkings has used logical reasoning and evidence to come to the conclusion that there is no God and now religious people say God will punish him for going against christianity. I'm implying that he will be punished for using his brain essentially.
5786Dan 11 hours ago
Bit ridiculous; Mr Hawkings once said that there must have been a God, but he is now dead. Then he backtracked. However, I read on New Scientist a few months back that physicists are coming to realise that the Universe without some form of a creator is impossible.

@tommeasor Every experience you've undergone is a form of energy, and is bound to you by the principles of frequency relationship, and exists in a harmonic multiple of this dimension. However, once you die, all of those experiences, as energy wave forms bound by thermodynamics and frequency relationship, must live on, and reattune themselves onto another human anatomy at some point in the future.

JaimeinUK 1 week ago
@JaimeinUK WTF? I'm not what? God?
You were the one trying to make an argument, but failing miserably. The burden of proof always lies upon the one making the positive claim. All the while you admit to not having proof for the existence of "God", you nonetheless clearly believe him/it to exist. That's illogical and irrational, and is why the absurdity of god belief so often leads to neuroses and psychoses.
Oh, BTW, "One" is followed by "Two". "Second" follows "First".

These "futile conversations", as you call them, are actually of great & valuable use. Perhaps some will learn important lessons from these conversations while the rest will continue to find virtue in their willfull ignorance.

TheScarfaceNinja 1 week ago
@TheScarfaceNinja It might have been an accident that the first self replicating molecule or a RNA strand first came into existence i.e the first signs of life, but I assure you the rest did not. the way that trees are now, the way that we have intelligence and emotions are the results of evolution, each species adapt to their environment and evolve due to natural selection ( survival of the fittest) having intelligence or sight or taste is obviously an advantage, and therefore passed on.

So did the all these laws simply EVOLVE???

By the same principle, there is no cold, since cold is merely the absence of heat.
Finally, by the same principle, EVIL is the absence of GOOD.

What bugs me here is his arrogance. Death cannot be "dark" for dark is a phenomena and there is nothing to be scared of. Death cannot be no phenomena for no thing can't exist even in the slightest second and nothing is a meaningless human concept nonexistent externally and internally, so nothing can't ever be (except maybe before the Big Bang which gave birth to the all Being) therefore death must be not no phenomena but new phenomena.

@BigMaxStax prove it.
ixOr1onxi 2 weeks ago
@ixOr1onxi it's not up to me to prove anything but I've seen God work in people's lives, I've seen a hugee change in people that have come to Christ, athiests, Buddhists, etc. You can experience God in your life too, just sincerely ask Him into your life, sincerely ask Him to come into your heart. Look around, what do you see? Look at the universe, the Earth, nature, water, it's too perfect to not be created by God, but it's up to you.
BigMaxStax 2 weeks ago
@BigMaxStax that is what is called the placebo effect, look it up and you will understand what i am talking about
ixOr1onxi 2 weeks ago
@ixOr1onxi Lol I understand fully what the placebo effect is. But it's not a "placebo" because a placebo is something that gets you to believe in something that isn't physically true. However it is completely different in my faith, I'm not just a blind person walking and hoping to end up in the right place, I KNOW I'm on the right path, it was my decision to accept Christ. And yes the mind is a powerful thing, even Ph.D's in Neuroscience cannot fully understand it, and its similar with God.
BigMaxStax 2 weeks ago
@BigMaxStax
He didn't say god does not exist. He acknowledges it can't actually be proved. You can't prove Santa Claus doesn't exist. Do you believe in Santa Claus?
vancouvermild 2 weeks ago
@vancouvermild Lol well watch it again, he clearly states what I quoted... of course it can't be proven because no human has ever proven the existence of the spirit or another spiritual realm. Physically we can never prove these things as humans but until we leave this Earth we will never get to see. But by believing in Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we will get to see Him in Heaven one day. This is my faith and I believe it to the fullest, we won't see eye to eye on this one

Comment 1 of 2
I watched it again, and it didn't correspond to your quote "God does not exist"!

@BigMaxStax
Comment 2 of 2
Scientific evidence, on the other hand, draws the same conclusions WORLDWIDE independent of culture or society. I submit to you that you are merely a product of whatever culture or society you happen to be born & raised in. If born in Ancient Greece, you'd be worshipping Zeus & Hercules. I, on the other hand, have the capability of thinking outside the box, as I am an independent thinker. I can see the BIG picture.
vancouvermild 2 weeks ago
@vancouvermild True, well said (my mistake on the quote). However I chose to believe in Jesus Christ not because of my culture but because of my faith and honestly I feel His presence (probably gonna sound crazy to you). Most of my extended family grew up in a Muslim/Hindu environment and we chose to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. My world opened up for me, I'm not "dreaming" or "hallucinating" it's very real. I appreciate that you can actually have a respectful conversation unlike some...
BigMaxStax 2 weeks ago
@BigMaxStax
I appreciate the fact you realize I purposefully try to respect other people as human beings. Very good observation! Furthermore, I totally respect the fact that at least your initial culture revolved around the Muslim faith - but you've accepted Christianity instead. I still don't share your beliefs, mind you; but I respect it more when it at least somewhat resembles a true decision - rather than simply passing on the Muslim (or Christian) baton from generation-to-generation.
vancouvermild 2 weeks ago

Good day!
GuywithaSilkBowtie 2 weeks ago
@spiritelspeth Hmm, I think you may have something on the idea of laws undiscovered that would prove the afterlife. But, you made a little mistake. You must keep in mind that the Renaissance was the start of the rift in between science and religion. In other words, the "scientists" during that time all had a religious bias. The coming of scientists who separated the two was what spawned the theory that the earth was not in fact the center of the universe. We do have a lot of advancements yet.
GuywithaSilkBowtie 2 weeks ago
I would ask Dr. Hawking if it is possible we have not yet discovered some of the physical laws which would prove the existence of the afterlife. Just recently scientists are considering the possibility of objects moving faster than the speed of light, something not believed possible half a century ago. After all, the greatest scientific minds in the world several centuries ago believed the sun revolved around the earth! Hawking is brilliant, but he's just a 21st century human being, after all.

We have absolutely no evidence that when you die there is an afterlife or anything at all.
Which is more likely?
cyberslick18 3 weeks ago
@cyberslick18 I can say a huge theory that i like or I can just explain it in short.
There is exactly no way to tell if our world, is real.
We could currently be in a situation of physical unawareness of our true mental state.
That we, as a people, are in a virtual simulation, like the Matrix. Instead of being harvested by our own robotic creations, we are being judged by our actions in this simulation, to see if we are truly fit for our real society. I have more but its 500 max
hellbringer3001 3 weeks ago
@cyberslick18 I only know what I believe and that is what is correct and proper for me... I cannot say for anyone else. We don't know until we die. If you are correct and I go into darkness and oblivion and that is it, well that is fine also... but I believe this existence is merely the foundation for a greater existence... I am not nearly as concerned about evidence or proof of either way to think... It is what it is...
