Most people here either say "Alex is an ass who deserved it" or "Poor Alex I feel bad for him". I personally don't really take sides on that debate, because yes, Alex is a perverted little bastard and, were he real, everyone supporting him would find him disgusting, and they'd be right. The real question is: is his punishment any better than he is and, were it possible to inflict it on someone, should it be allowed? I remember finding it over the top cruel in the book.
Everyone who thinks Alex is cool is a deranged person themselves. He is a vicious criminal treated by a govt. which is morally no better than himself. There are no heroes or great people here. That's what makes this film a classic.
@DarkGuitarKid Go back to giving your dad anal you faggot. Dont comment on shit that happened a while ago. Alex is cool, your gay, this movie is great, you retarded and I have just crushed you with text, goodbye!
@MrJawzwa I think he's attractive: is that better or worse than finding him cool? Also, he may be an absolute cruel bastard, but you can't deny he has a certain swag.
Of course, his actions and persona remain despicable. But then again, if he didn't also have some sympathetic points, he wouldn't be such an interesting and human character.
MegaGoodoldtimes / Wormtail96 You guys are absolutely correct. I think everyone here is missing the point entirely. He wasn't reformed. He was treated to feel pain when he begins to get angered or frustrated. His face at the end, "I was cure my brothers, " only connotates that he's cured of the treatment. He's still a scumbag. I love this movie. There is NO good person in it.
Fuck Joe the lodger! I wish I was there, I would tolchock him myself. And when the red vino was flowing real horrorshow I would put the boot to Alex's P & M for being right well cunts!
People like @MissRandomlsRandom who says "Poor Alex" or "I cried for him" are just fangirls who thinks he's sexy, man it really sucks to be a girl.I hate when the people say Joe is stupid and Alex is great,Joe was 100% right with that what he said
Holy shit, there are actually people who sorry for Alex.I can't feel sorry for him,he deserved all what happened to him, where Billy Boy and Dim beat the shit out of him as cops was my favorite scene in the movie because he deserved it.Have you forget what he has done,he was a killer rapist gang leder, and i should feel sorry for him because he say that he's sad,you should feel sorry for people who were his victims and not for him
Hey, I know we're supposed to feel sorry for Alex, but...I'm sorry, Joe (the lodger) was absolutely right in what he said. Alex had done some of the worst things imaginable and yes he was "reformed", but that doesn't change what has been done. He does have to suffer for his misdeeds.
For the first part of the movie, I hated Alex and was happy to see that he got what was coming to him. But once his free will was taken away, and his own family kicked him out (okay, so technically it was the douchey guy who was living in his room, but still) I actually cried! This movie REALLY makes you think. It's why I like it so much, I guess!
His "treatment" is too make him vunerable to obnoxious little parasites such as that. What they are showing too, is that some methods of "reformation" were never meant to truly reform little monsters such as Alex (as well meaning as some have been in applying them - such as the Chaplin) Others are to make them worse off - it is all the same bad doctoring
The prison chief of guards is to represent "Hitler" he inspected them and put them in the camps.
I really like how Kubrick brought Alex to life. Alex is sick twisted and what not and yet everyone in the audience is suddenly heart-broken by watching the protagonist beaten and tortured after he raped and murdered people. If this was another sick individual like Dahmer it couldn't have been done. Definitively Kubrick's best work.
Something tells me that Alex's parents were afraid of him when he lived there. He probably abused them and they were too afraid to call the cops on him.
That guy was such a douche. This part of the movie made me so mad. Like, I guess he's getting what he deserves, but it kind of sucks how he's all "reformed" and then everyone kicks his ass.
@richardfanx3 Ok all the others kickign his ass I understand. But who the fuck does THAT idiot think he is?! These aren't his parents and it ain't his home! Fuck him!
@richardfanx3 It's hard to feel sorry for a rapist like Alex. I remember feeling sorry for him the first time I watched this movie until I re-watched it and saw again what he and his friends did to the woman in red. It wasn't just the fact that they raped her, the rape was secondary, it was the sadistic pleasure that they got from her and her husbands fear and suffering.
The second time and subsequent times that I watched this I felt less sympathy with each passing time.
@richardfanx3 that's what I love about the movie and why this is one of my fav scenes. even though we've seen the awful things Alex did, you can't help but feel sorry for him. the movie is toying with our emotions. makes you think about right and wrong, and reformed criminals. do they ever really pay their due? are they ever really accepted back into society, or should they live with what they've done for the rest of their lives regardless?
Yes, but I'm referring to the 21st chapter of the book, where he decides to settle with a wife and kids. He doesn't feel any remorse, he just kinda..."grew out" of his psychotic behavior.
i cried at this scene

Kay Alex sort of deserves it but I HATE THAT HYPOCRITICAL DOUCHE THAT JUST THINKS HE CAN STEAL HIS PARENTS!

Alex became a clockword orange, but had to live with his past, which was very unforgiving. so its better to become his true nature.

I had the Forest Girl painting too........it meant a lot to me back then.
She reminded me of my 14 yr old girlfriend at the time.
I was amazed to see her in this movie.
