  • Just a suggestion. I believe your supposed to wait like 5 mins before hitting continue after the upgrade....I think its just a safety precaution.

  • @erickwinterkamp Great tip. I am a risk taker, and I have done this so many times, I blew past this "safety precaution". I will add it to the more info section now.

  • can i use this to limit the upload speed of certain computer on the network?

  • @mike82y I believe you can. Its called QoS.

  • This is such an old video. Please note that videos after upload 80 has a much shorter intro. - Versatile

  • Anndddd, I messed up the process. I feel like a dumb ass, I rushed it,

  • the router wont upgrade it keeps failing

  • @NatsuAdvocate What router model number is it?

  • @gamedexterity WRT54GS firmware v7.2 .07

  • @NatsuAdvocate I see it is supported at the dd-wrt site. Have you tried the other firmwares for this model?

  • @NatsuAdvocate Use the micro generic file. Is that what you used?

  • @gamedexterity yes, n i tried both of em

  • @NatsuAdvocate How about vxkiller? If all else fails, time to hit up the dd-wrt forums.

  • bro y did you not do 30-30-30 reset

  • @TheKingOfTechnology Because I didn't have to. - Versatile

  • i downloaded the file and upgrade my linksys router and it said the upgrade was successful and wait for rebooting.........but then the router just stop working.........so i need help

  • @cubinbebu Do it again. After it reboots, login with the new ip address. - Versatile

  • so i just moved in with my friend and her ex set up dd-wrt on her linksys previously, but now everyone that lives here can't connect to her wireless internet even with the correct passphrase. i'm on the web GUI looking for how to connect the laptops, i assume theres a spot to put in the IP/mac addresses in order to allow them to connect? but i can't find it. any help would be appreciated, it should be an easy fix i just cant find it and im getting frustrated lol thanks

  • @PoppinCain The router should be in DHCP mode already. What I suggest is disable the encryption on the router temporarily, just to make sure all laptops can connect. If so, then great, we know it was a security encryption key problem. Just because the router is set to TKIP+AES encryption doesn't mean your laptop will actually support it. - Versatile

  • i did the same thing on my e2000 router but it said failed. Didnt brick it though...

  • @thehostler0 : Use the mini firmware version and try again. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity The one i used was called dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-e2000.bin

theres another one but it says nas in its name: dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e2000.bin

    should i just try it?

  • @thehostler0 Try it. Also see the wiki there for installation instructions. - Versatile

  • if i push the reset button on the back on my router will it erase th dd-wrt firmeware??

  • @ubershot33 No, dd-wrt is still there. - Versatile

  • i got a question so yes my router will work with the new firmware, well i have a linksys wrt1600nl, i just want to know if theres any other setings i will have to change to ge my 2 xboxs 360 to work? thank you for the info

  • @oomonkey2 Open ports for both xbox 360s then.

  • fucking hate my wag160n

  • @NeO3Sa Not DD-wrt compatible, right? Linksys routers on craigslist can be found dirt cheap if you are ever desperate to get dd-wrt or a tomato compatible firmware. Unfortunately, I have too many unused routers at my place. I have two linksys routers with dd-wrt, and then I got 2 more N routers as a gift (not dd-wrt compatible though). So now I have 4 routers, but I am only using one dd-wrt router overall. :( - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity i've searched, the only way to deal with wag160 is to jtag it, but it's harder than dd-wrt :S

  • Is there any way to do this on a linksys wrt120n e1000 router. i have one laying around and i dont really wanna buy a knew one to do this. thanks

  • @Waraptor44 Sorry man, your router is not supported. I just checked.

  • I have this installed on my Linksys Router, but I did a hard setup: power cycled (30/30/30), made a router image (backup-ish), and did whatever to install the firmware and took me 1 hour. When I watched this video, I didn't realize that it is easier to install the firmware from the retail firmware. My router is a Linksys WRT54G v6 and works great. I even have 4 Hotspots (Bens_WiFi, Beccas_WiFi, Parents_WiFi, and WEP-Only_Devices), all secured and MAC Filter is enabled.

  • so easy, i didnt even have to reset the router for my wrt54g v 1.1, just installed the mini generic, wait about 45 sec for firmware installation and boom works!

  • flashed my ASUS router with this today.

and WEP is useless can be cracked in a few minutes

  • @OhNoNotMyPenis Agreed, WEP is not recommended. - Versatile

  • intro is worthless take that shit out

  • @BUSTABros Agreed. This is an old video. New videos today don't even use the 30 second intro anymore.

  • I'm confused. I have WRT54GL, but what firmware version should I upload to my router? The same one in the video?

  • @KintahKuntay : Why are you confused? Use the dd-wrt website, type in your model number, and get the firmware for your router!!!!! So what if my router is different than yours, that is not an issue. -Versatile

  • @gamedexterity I know that. But the thing is, is that when I type in my model, click it, and there's these shitload of files. Do I download them all and upload them to my router one by one?

  • @KintahKuntay: Absolutely not. I will PM you the file you need. -Versatile

  • @gamedexterity hey I need a little help here, I got the wrt54g ver 6

    it has its original firmware..

what files I need.. I get 4 files when I pop in the model and version.

    let me know soon...

  • @MikeDole1 : Get the mini version. - Versatile

  • Fuck this tut, i did it all completely and i got my internet offline for 3 days, it was a huge mess. I got a new $300 router and it wasted my time and money.

  • @Ins4ne117 its because this tutorial isn't even explaining the hard reset and the main points of setting up your router (For everyone) PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS TUTORIAL UNLESS YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT

YOU'RE GONNA END UP WITH A BRICKED ROUTER

  • Can't you just simply save a backup if you fuck up?

  • @Ins4ne117 : What is your router model? Are you using the micro firmware? -Versatile

  • Where did u get this wallpaper?

  • @innerzonepoa : Google borderlands wallpaper. -Versatile

  • Microgeneric doesn't pop up on my router. I see mini and mega generic and some other things but that's it. I have a WRT320N. What should I do? The others that pop up are VPN, Voip and Standard USB FTP Generic and some other one that says it's used for flashing the router. What should I do?

  • @Marialonzo : Try the mini generic that is for your model. -Versatile

  • @gamedexterity Alright got it done. Thanks!

  • I have a WRT54G v6 and every time I try to install the firmware, it gives an error with amazing grammar. It waits a few seconds and prints "Upgrades are failed." What am I doing wrong? It was the correct .bin.

  • @mrmikerotch : Is it supported? If it is, try using a different firmware like the mini dd-wrt version. - Versatile

  • it says, "upgrades are failed"

    what next?

  • @mrahman0205 : Is your router supported? - Versatile

  • I hear that the process is different for the WRT320N, with the sp2 firmware. Is this the case?

  • I don't have that router, go to the dd-wrt website and see.- Versatile
