  • Danielle de Niese did poorly last night in the Enchanted Island at Met Opera. Basically she had to skip some of the difficult parts and there was no consecutive high Es at the end. Bartoli technically beat her, period.

  • @Doooku

She did very well yesterday fyi.

  • Can't wait to see DeNiese try to beat this. hahaha let the comparison war begin.

  • YESSS This will be in the Met's Enchanted Island creation :D :D :D

  • @Flamingopera Unfortunately sung by Danielle DeNiese. I'd much rather have Bartoli.

  • @LordHettrick poor poor knowledge

  • una piroetta.... non ti sbaglia UNA nota!!!!! E quando nasce un'altra così? PS: che mazzate che da sto clavicembalo!

  • She's fun. She flies all outta control and everything the incessant vibrato, but, hey: Bitch got pipes better than me, so.

  • The style of this composer is very impressive.

  • @Vic2Guem4 It is. I can also recommend the operas Rinaldo, Teseo and Amidigi as well as Orlando, Alcina and Ariodante if you would like something typical of Handel's style. A quite unique style, if you ask me. And qualitatively at a much higher level than he's contemporaries Porpora, Hasse and so on. But it is, of cource, a matter of taste.

  • What a talent! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful voice performing today. Absolute genius, continues to blow me away track after track. There's just no one like her singing today. LONG LIVE CECILIA!

  • Truly, it makes me wonder why experts finding flaws in such voices are not yet hired as voice trainers/teachers and have to share their profound knowledge via comment sections on youtube.

  • no voice like hers on this planet

  • Comment removed

  • @oliviasmulyan Vocal-music from baroque operas/oratorios are usually sung with less vibrato then what Bartoli uses.

  • wow so beautiful

  • I love the libretto to this aria alone in itself. But the aria is amazing as well.

  • Omg.

  • Impressionante!

  • passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000passion x 100,000

  • MUITA BONITA ESSA MUSICA!!!

  • SHE IS A GODESS!!!!!!!!

  • I love Cecilia but she sings these old arias in a too operatic way (I mean, vibratto and stuff).

  • @gustavojoris Vibrato is natural consequence of a good vocal technique that's how bel canto works and also how baroque works. Old school baroque singers use their larynx in an unhealthy way to suppress the vibrato. The consequence in short term is a very small voice without harmonics useless to sing opera with orchestra and consequences in long term are vocal lnjuries. Look how David Daniels can sing with an orchestra and look good and how Philippe Jaroussky stresses so much his larynx

  • @Heartlessiceboy that you can actually see a hole in his neck.

Baroque vocal music was written for virtuoso singers castrati who not only had vibrato but also super human capabilities. For the other hand in that time didn't exist an standard music technique so every singer had different ways to sing so there were singer who naturally had vibrato and singers who had plain voices.

  • E' orribile. Una cagnetta afona.

  • @Cesconegre meglio di te sarà

  • @Cesconegre Ma dico io, che serve insultare.

  • Amazing! Unbelievable composition and great performance!! An eye opener!

  • Simplesmente a melhor!!!!!!

  • simplemente una diva!!

    mi musa por siempre ...

  • It's the best perfomance! <3!!!

  • @guitarjedi312 um excuse me? too much vibrato for Baroque... um this is BAROQUE we are talkin bout... hater!

  • @islezeus Yes, we are talking about Baroque....and Baroque singers (mainly females) are known for their seeming lack of vibrato. Having said that, I LOVE Cecilia Bartoli and her rendition of this aria.

Just thought you should know that your comment was both smug and incorrect.

  • @matt92091 actually sweetie, you're the smug one coming with this "historical" notion that vibrato was never used in Baroque music, lol. Just because there are records that advise against the heavy, bellowing type of vibrato when singing back then does not mean that the more natural light vibrato was never used.

You are the one coming out as some smug "purist" in actuality; I'm just someone enjoying Cecilia's rendition of this piece. PEACE!

  • so virtuosic!

  • Absolutely amazing! Un sueño extraordinario!

    Grazie mille Cecilia!

  • I'm hooked to Bartoli's singing of this song the more I listen to it. She's the best so far in terms of skill among those have sung this piece. Every note is so clearly articulated and at such amazing speed and pitch (particularly in the da capo section). Bravi!

  • i love the cello and harpishord part on this

  • mamma mia che grande!!!!

  • clef of do (C)

  • forgot to mention it can be put on the first, second, third or fourth line. Was commonly used in the 1600-1700s

  • Nicht von dieser Welt!!!!!!! Einfach nur phantastisch!!!

  • What clef is that in the middle? It's not alto or tenor...so what is it?

  • the clef in the middle is a soprano clef, I believe

  • oh my God....I've been working on my trill aqnd triplets for two years and am only half way there to being able to do them :( It's gonna to take a lot of work to do this. But in order to keep the my art alive I will do so.

  • es una majestuosa interpretacion de la bartoli

    B R A V A ¡¡¡¡¡ ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • How do you sing that fast and make it sound clear like that? That amazes me.

  • Lol with a heck of a lot of practice...

  • Tan BRILLANTE...glorioso.

    sumptuous in structure and adornment

    strikingly impressive

  • How can a human being sing like this? The moment at 3:19 seems super-human. My hat is off to this phenomenal woman.

Where do u get the arrangement for PIANO AND VOICE? :)

  • She makes me cry. How beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • may someone explayn, why it is a nonsense or a ridiculous music? there are some strange things sung here. but is it wrong to sing differently?

I adore Bartoli and baroque music:)

  • Wonderful Cecilia! Io L,amo, signora Bartoli!

  • LeonoraPasiniani:Cecilia has incredibile coloratura !She is my favorite coloratura mezzo!

  • We pity you.

  • You are right, dear blichilde. This silly people really need in pity

  • Rest in peace!!!!

  • I am always amazed at how well she sings, that trill of hers is out of this world.

  • omg, this woman is crazy, i love her!

  • way better..Cecilia in the future could match Maria Callas' fame and status.

  • Cecilia Bartoli is better than Natalie Dessay in this aria!

  • @ABlackNote Yes but This aria originally is higher. Bartoli sings it better but she could never sung the entire Bellezza role cause is way too high for her and the only Bellezza's coloratura aria is this one. Piacere would be the perfect role for Cecilia Bartoli. Singing the entire role I prefer Roberta Invernizzi she is very clean.

  • Where I can Get this score? In Mexico City in my town I never found it

  • my favourite piece sung by my favourite singer :-)) ta for the vid!!

    e.

  • I absolutely love this piece. I'm looking to do it on my recital. Where can I get the score?

  • thank you for this upload!

  • the voices of natalie and cecilia are so diffrend and I love them both but I think that cecilia owns that aria ... such a passion in her singing....she's one of the best!!!!!!

  • Handel was genius. =]

    Bartoli is awesome...

  • thx

  • Handel trying to kill the singers. :o)

  • he treats the vocal chords like violin strings hence the 16 note runs.

  • @codonauta yeah, I'm always amazed by how tough the baroque repertoire looks!

  • beautiful

  • C. Bartoli is really good!

  • Passion :D

  • I prefer Minkowski and Bartoli vocalises better that Natalie, but Natalie's voice i more beautiful than Bartoli's...I don't have preferences...
