does anyone know where ican learn satriya in delhi. i have done one year of grammar training in the dance form and would love to learn more so if anyone can help me out, i would be very grateful
Does anyone know the names of the artists and the choreographer. this is beautiful. I am interested in learning this and would like to acknowledge the source.
It looks a bit like Bharatanatyam, even though it's obviously quite different. Great to know that this Assamese dance has status as a classical Indian dance!
@Tonfa4brutality It has ac2aly got influences from different classical dances.............Sankardeva travelled throughout India for 12 long years, collected knowledge from different art forms, merged them with indigenous culture of Assam and the final output was the g8 Sattriya culture.............Sattriya Dance is a dance form where u'll find Assamese, Carnatic, North Indian, South East Asian and Islamic influences all merged into one.
I am curious about the 'story' that she's telling. What is happening? She shows such great expression, I'd be interested to know what tale is being told.
@angelbix She is dancing out a short summary of the Ramayana, an ancient Hindu epic which is also the oldest epic in the world.............It shows the victory of Rama, a Hindu God incarnate over Ravana, the brutal king of Sri Lanka.

The story is from the Ramayana, one of the two epics from India. The dance shows highlights from Ram's life.
