This was one of the few Elvis records that hit big without the Jordanaires. They were not available for the recording date at Radio Recorders so RCA hired the Mello Men, whose bass singer was the legendary Thurl "Pappy" Ravenscroft, also known as the voice of "Tony The Tiger", and one of the best bass singers in the business.
As I recall, in the obituaries for Otis Blackwell when he died, he was quoted as saying he had never met Elvis Presley, even once, even though he wrote some of his biggest hit songs.
There is and will be only one KING of MUSIC whatever there is Rock, Pop, Country, Gospel, ELVIS WAS THE BEST and GREATEST IN ALL OF THOSE category. 5/19/10
king for eva long live the king and all he stood for he might not be alive physically but wat a muscian who will stay alive in our souls for many years to come
Thank you for this great video and great song. My heart broke the day he left and 32 years later I still remember like it was yeaterday and there's not a day that goes by I don't think of him and miss him.
The movie version has an extra verse Hey cupid, where are you, my heart is growing sadder. That girl rejected me, just when I thought I had her. The record version is available on Elvis at the Movies, Command Performances: The Essential 60s Masters, and It Happened at the Worlds Fair. This is the movie version with the extra verse, and it is available on It Happened at the Worlds Fair.
Written by Otis Blackwell and Winfield Scott. Elvis recorded it in September 1962 at Radio Recorders for his film It Happened at the Worlds Fair. The single release had a week stay on Billboards Hot 100 chart, peaking at #11. It also reached #21 on the Rhythm & Blues chart, and it sold over a million copies. There are two versions of the song-one for the movie and one for the record release.
This is definitely the best version of this song because the absolute complete lyrics are included. I've never been a fan of the shortened version of this jewel. This song is a true masterpiece and it should be way better known than it actually is. It's always been one of my most favorite Elvis movie songs. This song is from my 2nd most favorite Elvis movie "It Happened At The World's Fair". This video was absolutely perfect in every way, 10 Stars as always Jackie.

What would be even better is if you would post the original 45 hit version of this song instead of the "album" version...
