  • *run (carajo!)

  • I can't tun that far (yet...?) But how awesome would it be to go & watch or participate somehow? :D

  • Raramuri indians can easily win a 26 mile U.S. marathon...and to celebrate they will run another 26 miles..with chanclas (with sandals)

  • is the truth is annoying to you?? TRUTH HURTS,ESPECIALY TO THE ONES LIVING THE LIE....

  • I'd love to run that race some day!

  • 144,837 views and 403 likes...... some of you people fuckin suck.

  • Remember that The Tarahumara are among the OLDEST indigenous native populations in the North America...They are a GEM in our world.

Not even the Spaniards were able to conquer them!..they left to the mountains...how amazing is that...seeing a tribe of people who have remained their own...and are true indigenous...I want to meet them...they are also very very shy and sweet.

  • @annacoribioanna i wana meet them too, they look friendly, they are a gem indeed and very unique people.

  • They are known for ENDURANCE, not Speed. So yes, they might not win a race on speed but they can run and endure more than a normal person can.

  • @annacoribioanna wrong....on a 40k run they will be there first and the only ones to get there so yes, speed will be on their side on the long run....

  • Thank you White Horse for helping preserve their culture, thank you so much!!

  • They should make all the runners wear the same huaraches, same equipment etc other wise I honestly dont belive they should be ther, thank you to everybody who supports the culture, beautiful culture.

  • do these guys participate in marathons/olympic long distance running? I haven't seen one and judging from this video they should cause they can definitely win races. I don't know of any raramuri athletes but maybe you guys can help me out?

  • @ochasca

only know of one tarahumaran athlete his name is ponce de leon and he is a professional boxer

  • Live the dream and keep running free while you still can...

  • I loved those women (7:00 min) who finished entire 75 km in skirts and sandals.

  • wow

  • much respect for the white guy that won 1st place ;)

  • the only thing missing from this lifestyle is some good pot.... :) and life would be awesome!!!!!!

  • @kashman92

How do you know that it's missing? They just did not mention it in this video. I have some data about this... :-)

  • Mad respect for them 47 miles.

    Just dayumm haha

  • Love and peace humanity has no skin color my friends.

  • mexicans don't cross the border, the border cross us...

  • Born to run got my passion for running up to a level that almost scares me. I would love to run this race!

  • What a great heart this guy has called caballo blanco

  • great work

  • I will run because of this book i just finished reading, Born To Run. My runs will not shift from pain to fun and i too hope to just participate in one ultra marathon in the coming year. For myself, my soul, my fellow man.

  • Brilliant idea and Ideal...

  • caballo blanco for president!

  • more of a brisk walk really.....

  • its funny how whites kill 95% of the Native Americans and then talk about how much American they are more than the so called Mexicans....

  • @99cacahuate

    ignorant, and unintelligent.

  • @bennnnn42 WHY?????show me otherwise....

  • @99cacahuate

    why?

people who generalize show ignorance. you say its funny how "whites" kill 95% of Native Americans, first of all kill? as in whites still kill Natives? Wrong. Killed, yes some white people did kill some Natives. As a whole, what the Anglo-Americans did too the Natives was wrong, I completely agree. But don't generalize, and pull facts out of your ass...

  • @bennnnn42 thats all you got??? not enough for me......i dont want to waste my time with you....

  • @99cacahuate

    lol

  • @99cacahuate True, they also brought sickness and ignorance! and all the bad food like gluten, dairy and sugar!

  • @5tonyvvvv and don't forget they also brought the monetary system....and thats worst than anything......

  • @99cacahuate Yep, there are tribes even today that dont understand Money! and why it even exists, all they know is the land! money is the Devil.

  • @99cacahuate try to not be annoying for 5 seconds and see how that works out for you

  • simply thinking about the Raramuri and Born to Run makes me want to pull on my Five Fingers and run

  • Thanks for the video, and thanks to Caballo Blanco for founding the race. I'm listening to the audiobook version of Born to Run, and it was great to see the Tarahumara in action in their own race. It's so nice to see the international competitors give their prizes back to the communite--how gracious of the winner shown in the video.

  • are you saying THAT ALL NATIVE AMERICAN THAT ARE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT WHITES HAD DONE TO THEM ARE GOING TO BECOME TERRORIST, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW A WHITE GUY BRAIN THINK, THATS THE PROBLEM WITH WHITES " THEY ARE AFRAID OF TRUTH" = RACISM.

  • since you went to another subject, does americans ask themselfs, what have we done to this people" terrorist" that they hate us so much, nobody will go to the point of doing terrorist acts, unless you do something to them, now when you invade another country with bombs and weapons or wherever have you, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE THAT TECHNOLOGY TO RESPOND, THEY WILL DO WHEREVER IT TAKES AND THATS INCLUDING TAKING THEIR LIVES FOR THE MATTER, now you tell me< WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME A TERRORIST?

  • TELL THIS TO YOUR WHITE RACIST FRIENDS, NICE TRY ON BEEN THE VICTIM OF RACISM, BY TELLING ALL THE CRIMES WHITES HAD DONE TO ALL NATIVE PEOPLE OF THIS CONTINENT TILL THIS DAYS " DOES NOT MAKES ME RACIST" IM JUST POINTING OUT THE TRUTH........

  • @Charlz9mm DO YOU WANT ME TO MAKE A LIST OF ALL THE CRIMES GRINGOS HAD DONE ALL OVER THE WORLD, I WISH KARMA GETS HERE SOON......

  • @99cacahuate All Gringos and their children? Did Gringo babies do crimes too? Define Gringos? Should they be herded up like cattle and slaughtered? Should all Germans be killed because of Hitler? Your hatred is oozing past the lines.

  • @Charlz9mm YOU GOT MY POINT... STOP BEING AN STUPID ASS, YOU KNOW WAS IS REALLY GOING ON OUT THERE, NOT ALL OF US ARE BRAINWASH, YOUR JUST ANOTHER ONE WHO REFUSE TO TAKE THE TRUTH, ARE YOU ASHAMED OR ANGRY THAT NOT EVERY ONE GOES THE WHITE PEOPLE'S WAY OF MENTALITY, GUESS WHAT SOME PEOPLE REALLY HAS VALUES, MORALS TO OTHERS.

  • @99cacahuate Spoken like someone trying to justify their hatred. Since you did not answer even one of my questions it shows you to be the thing you say you hate. Are you now going to become a terrorist?

  • @99cacahuate karma is already here....white people are mostly reliant on the system, most americans could not live and survive in the ways that the Tarahumara have.....hell alot of them couldnt go a day without their medications. we are so unhealthy and dependent on comodities that are unnecessary.

  • @atz123ify that's true...

  • I suddenly feel very unfit

  • and white people call us hispanic-latino, hell no WE ARE NATIVE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF THIS CONTINENT, OUR HOMELAND. Whites call us immigrants, alliens, illigals ha ha white european man will always be white european even if they call america their home.

  • @99cacahuate Are you really a full blooded native? I have brown skin and half of my family has white skin, that means I'm am made up of both races. Actually my uncle is a full blooded native and he and all of my cousins are very humble people. Be wiser and just ignor the ppl you've had bad experiences with, not all people are the same.

  • @SandiSadistic can't just ignor the people the shows hatred to brown skinned people, THE WHOLE SYSTEM IN USA HAS BEEN SET UP THAT WAY, JUST TO BENEFIT THE WHITE MAN . IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT I CAN SEE MORE THAN WHATS IN FROM OF ME.

UP DON'T DENIED OUR HERITAGE, DON'T DENIED OUR CULTURE AND MOST IMPORTANT DON'T DENIED OUR ORIGEN......

  • @99cacahuate cacahuatito carampinado stop writing in "english" when trying to communicate with your sisters and brothers, we all speak ESPANOL man.

  • @AppleDGreen all natives from Alaska to tierra del fuego(Chile) are one people, some just know english or spanish, is not our fault, some are still speaking their origenal languaje( native ). i wish there woul be more way to learn our real language.....

  • @AppleDGreen whites don't honor NATIVES OF THIS CONTINENT, LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE " NATIVE AMERICANS " DO THEY TRUST WHITES EUROPEANS HA HA GIVE ME A BREAK....

  • @99cacahuate Ignorant racist much?

  • Who is the singer with the guitar? Is it Salvador?

  • Thank you Will Harlan. What a gracious champion! Makes me proud to be a part of the same group of people known as "Americans".

  • I wann run this race.....Tarahumara Rock! Met Caballo at Mohican 2010 and have a deep respect for him and his mission.....

  • truly amazing natives, honestly they have the proper techique, footwear (basically just bare feet) and strength. they're more advanced with most aspects of running than people in America, Canada, europe etc

  • I'm from Sonora, a neighboring state of Chihuahua and the Copper Canyon. Here we've got a tribe called the Seris which are well known for hunting deers by chasing them down and other game also. This excercise is more of endurance instead of speed. Anyways, I'm very proud for embracing my running roots.

  • Just finished Born to Run, great to see Caballo Blanco and Arnuflo on camera! If you're watching this and you haven't read Born to Run, do yourself a favor and go read it.

  • Now, here's a guy who knows what he's talking about when he discusses the raramuris - excellent!

  • Have you read Christopher Mcdougall's book, "Born to Run"...? If so, you will enjoy this video...about Caballo Blanco and the ULTRA he has organized to pit Tarajumara Indians against ultra runners from around the world. A great little video!

  • love born 2 run best book ever!

  • This video can make me cry

  • BEAUTIFUL brown people, leave them alone,if they have something, the whites want it too!

  • @RATHAHONNI someone who is not willing to share the earth is way worse then a person who is simply an athlete trying to find a new place to run. you should really try and not be racist, it will make you a happier person

  • @davidaldrich86 ,Getting so i really dislike wannabees! You won't be happy until u prove that u can beat the Tarajumara at their own game!

  • @RATHAHONNI I don't want to beat anyone at their own game, and I respect the Tarajumara and I marvel at their amazing running skills. They are only human though, just like you and me. But you choose to ignore/are ignorant to that fact, which makes you racist. And you seem kinda dumb too.

  • in the book i read it says a tarahumara pursued a gazelle for miles until it passed out from fatigue

  • @snakerman2612 Gazelles live in Africa, not Mexico. But it is true that indigenous people have been known to run prey to death.

  • I think it's important to remember these are not superheroes. They do not have bionic bodies which never break down. We could all do the things they do (which by the way, they don't view as that odd) given the right circumstances and knowledge. But it is just so god damn hard in the world most people live in today.

  • Why are he wearing a diaper?

  • 7:00 This guy- he acts like it hurts to talk about white power.

  • @campbpar bitch stfu

  • Thanks Caballo for safekeeping the Tarahumara traditions and culture. I learned about you and the other runners from Born to Run. You all had been a great inspiration. I look forward to getting together with other ultrarunners to do Copper Canyon in a year or two. Happy running to everyone! Que vivan los Raramuri...

    Victor

  • although all this activity wont destroy the Raramuri (as long as corporate is kept out) it will change them, for the better or worse we can only see..lets just hope mexican govt dont encroach.

  • i cant believe that white guy beat them, i thought these guys were super human runners, wtf

  • Lol! Tarahumara are highly capable runners and one of their greatest strengths are running hundreds of miles continuously. Lets see the white guy finish first in a 400+ mile foot race.

  • @jasperc1211 it was a 47 mile ultra marathon, thats like 2 marathons put together, thats a very long distance and the people that had probably hundreds of generations of long distance running in their families and they have to run everyday for long distances just to survive, lost the marathon against some white guy from the U.S. who probably had no runners in his family, just got into running a few years before and probably runs at most 40 miles a week. how did the Raramuri not win by miles?

  • @terrapatra The Tarahumara run because they love to do it. They really don't care about winning, it's more of a social event. They are the true champions, because they don't need to finish first to 'win' at life. Read Born to Run, its an amazing book.

  • @jasperc1211 Americans.. sometimes I think racism is in your blood.

  • @jasperc1211 the last bit of that comment tells me you have a complete lack of the concept here (sharing something you love?). you do realize EVERY human being on the planet is capable of this? the fact that most of use are to lazy (me included) to try has nothing to to with colour. it's culture, and need. to be honest, i'm glad to see they've out lasted everything thats happened them. i'm white and my culture's langue is more or less dead.

  • @jasperc1211 : ...wearing sandals! The "white guy" you talk about admits in the video that he benefitted from having superior running gear and that the Tarahumara runner was the real winner.

  • @terrapatra wed ont know in the whitye guy is an athelt

  • @terrapatra If you listened to the video, it says that the tarahumara indians don't train, warm up or stretch before the race, they just show up and start running the 47 mile race. Find a person you know who can do that. They guy who won probably trained hard, that is why he won.

  • The Born to Run book was so inspiring, I started running (with Vibram Five Fingers) right after I put it down. I've always wondered what Caballo Blanco actually looked like. I am now running 30 miles a week.

  • very good activity, I am very proud of my beautiful people,

  • At risk of "over-commercializing" their way of life?

  • Great video! Well done!

  • so amazing!

  • Im about a quarter way into Born To Run and.. Im just so moved by the spirit of the Raramuri..

  • Im about a quarter way into Born To Run and.. Im just so moved by the spirit of the Raramuri..

  • I got into running because of the Tarahumara, Caballo, Barefoot Ted, and all the others that participated in Born to Run.

    =)

I'm going to run my first marathon this year!

  • Good for you I'm also running my first marathon this year. I can't wait. Born to Run is an amazing book!

  • @AmazingGodfrey How did your first marathon go?! :)

  • @cdawg37311 It was wonderful! I did my first marathon in 4h 4min! Now I'm trying to just go faster and longer. Actually I never thought I could run anything that long 8 years ago, but I did! :)

  • @AmazingGodfrey

My story almost the same. I started running, I was looking for a good form, I found Caballo, the Tarahumaras ,Ted Cristopher McDougall. Then I started to enjoy running. Now im stucked in. Hopefuly for a lifetime

  • thank you, this is very inspiring : ) I love learning things about my Country.

    TY White Horse!

  • Inspiring and refreshing, Thank you!

  • I want to have the privilege to run with the Raramuri... thanks Caballo Blanco .

  • I have read half way through Born to Run. I am very happy to know some folks are actually doing something to preserve the Raramari way of life. Caballo Blanco, if ur still out there, stay safe. Sterling, thanks for a great vid.

I recently injured my knee. I came across the Raramari people by mere chance. I was looking for running knee remedies. I discovered the Raramari and barefoot running.

  • Great job Micah...lets keep building bridges to this great land. It is so good to see the familiar streets and people of Uriuqe.

    Dave. @coppercanyonguy

  • GRANDE! Namasté

  • Great job capuring the spirit and storyh of the Rarámuri. The CCUM truly demonstrated the meaning of competition: a seeking with. Will's acknowledgement and honoring the Rarámuri, and the others giving back their corn and prize money touches the core of true competition. At a moment in time one seeks to see who is best aog those participating. Place does not matter, onoy that one has given their best effort and pushed oneself or another to what is humanly possible. Thanks for sharing!

  • Don't drink the water after the race!

  • Great job of capturing the atmosphere of CCUM 2009 and the challenges facing the Rarámuri running culture. Will Harlan is indeed a Class Act.

  • The gringo should have let the indios win, it was a close race and you know how much pride that would have given them. Next time be a Guero not a Gringo.

  • Will Harlan is a class act!

  • @fyduska I agree!

  • Such a great event...Viva El Caballo Blanco y Los Raramuri! Thanks so much Sterling for posting this.☮

  • El Caballo tells it like it is and you, Sterling, have shown what a beautiful event, what wonderful people, come together in the Copper Canyon.
