  • i have a 92 explorer sport 5 speed i have no idea how many miles are on it... it rolls over at 99,999. my dad bought it to scrap it but i revived it. the transmission crapped out on me and i replaced that but it is one of the funnest vehicles i have ever driven.

im about to replace the muffler and rear struts and brake lines but i saw this video and had to watch it. i sort of want to murder these people in the video but in a good way!

this video is so bad its awesome!

  • When I see or hear Ford Explorer of the 90's, I think of Jurassic Park.

  • I like how they talked about changing a tire. What happens when your tire explodes due to failure and you flip?

  • @flexor212000 -______- that was only for the second generation ford explorer.

  • We had this car for 10 years...it treated us well. Too bad I have to buy Hyundai/Kia now because Ford has committed itself to becoming a "luxury" brand. Bigger, faster, and more gadgetry...and of course, more expensive. And no, I'm not interested in the stripped down, bare-bones versions of any of their offerings.

  • @ericj305 Still better vehicles than Hyundai and or Kia..

  • @MrCivichatchback Not really. Check out Consumer reports' article on Ford's plaguing reliability issues pertaining to their spate of new releases. Not good. And Hyundai actually ranks higher than Ford in CR's 2011 dependability study. With Kia about the same as Ford. Not sure what your definition of "better" is, but mine is clear^. I have no biases against Ford, just relaying demonstrable facts. FYI- got a 2003 Accord after my Ford, and I've now decided on the 2012 Impreza, instead of H/K.

  • @ericj305 Well, let me put it to you this way. If you buy and own a Hyundai, People will make fun of you. Not so much with a new mustang or F350. But this is America, buy what you want, its your right. And me making fun of you is my right...

  • @MrCivichatchback "...People will make fun of you?"- Ok, this made me cringe in embarrassment...for you. Seriously lame stuff. Me? I don't make fun of anyone for what they choose to drive. You see, I'm evolved, socially and intellectually. Where one goes, the other usually follows. Meanwhile, you've a long road ahead.

And cool story about "rights"...you must be a constitutional scholar...not. <That's me, making fun of you. It IS my "right", you know. Yeah, you know...

    Next.

  • @ericj305 Thats right sweet tits!

  • @MrCivichatchback Wrong, actually. "Thats" is missing an apostrophe, and there should be a comma after "right". God, you're stupid.

  • @ericj305 haha

  • this explorers are great, my explorer becomes really useful when it snows where i live, doesnt get stuck and doesnt want to die.

    BEST EXPLORER EVER!!

  • Videos like this are neat and there were some for most cars in the early 90s... seems automakers dont do these anymore??

  • these are hard to find where i live!!

  • Still see quite a few '91-'94 Explorers around San Antonio.

  • my first car was a 1991 explorer i bought it for 700$. i got more rides in a tow truck than in the my truck! but i miss that piece of shit

  • i had a 91 eddie bauer edition best suv i have ever owned it just suck ass that the cash for clunkers killed the nice clean ones that had no rust :( and had low mils to

  • The best US Ford model ever! Perfect combination in this Electric Red + Beige Leather interior.... I love the Eddie Bauers! Nicer and warmer to see then the Limited.

  • I had one exact the same like that... a electric current red Explorer Eddie Bauer. They are rare here in Europe especially the first model 91 till 94. Mine was december 94. The most i see nowadays ar ready for clunkers... i dont mind, but why do people bring there perfect Explorer for clunkers?!! I hate it!

  • i love my explorer

  • Man i luv these explorers, for my current/first car i have a '92 eddie Bauer edition, love evry minute i drive in it.

  • The jack handle for my Mountaineer was under the rear seat. I like the placement of this one MUCH BETTER!

  • What music is this at the beginning??

  • Was für eine anfangs musik ist das??

  • Nooooooooo! La camioneta de la jai sosaieti! :D

  • The 91 Ford Explorer Sport was my first vehicle.

  • i miss my 94 sport... i hit a highway mile marker sign and rolled it. the squareness kept me alive. and putting my hands on the roof.

and i didnt know it was suppose to have a sun shield. that wouldnt been cool. i loved that truck. 2 12" subs in the hear. my hearing has come back since. 8-)

  • "Because the world is too big to be left un-explored" -LONG LIVE EXPLORER-!

  • people should know how to drive there suv the right way i wish there video like this

  • anyone know that exact name of that color red? or code color? I want to paint my explorer in that red

  • mine is maroon witch is about the same as buragndy

  • Its nice to watch a documentary of my favorite vehicle

  • how many mpg's is an average on Explorer?

  • I usually get around 15-17 on my 93 explorer sport, but I have around 200,000 miles on it, so it's probably a bit better with less mileage

  • i dirve a 94 exporler i get bout 12-16 12 around town and 16 on the high way and i am runing sright pipes

  • 120 km\h

  • 19-23 mpg is what i get

  • the intro music sounds like something the sims would use :P

  • OMG!!! this is making me laugh. I have 1991 Eddie Bauer edition. So many broken parts to it: window motors, drivers' side won't lock, transmission gets stuck in gears sometimes, but I still drive it. It's the same age as I am LOLzz!!

  • i have a 1993 explorer and the only problem i have is the i need to replace both rear window motors, and mine has 196k miles

  • Too bad these are falling victim of the monster that is, Cash For Clunkers.

  • yeah 1994 models like my XLT 4 Door 4wd were #8 for C4C sadly :-(

  • @xScoobyDoo82x NOT MINE haha

  • @xScoobyDoo82x most 1st gens have disappeared from the road since C4C. it sucks. still plenty of 2nd gens on the road though. glad that my 97 survived that BS.

  • @FPGT24 My mom was considering trading hers in, but she just didnt want another car payment, because right around CFC was when she had just finished paying off her Explorer.

  • My uncle/auntie had one of those and it sucks as a country vehical as the 4X4 malfunctions and the car gets stuck everywhere. Good city SUV though.

  • yeah my dad had one he loved it but the power switches never worked when we drove out on the beach we always had our uncle tow us out but yes we live in suberbs and was a great car

  • I dont understand how people say that they have had so many problems with these vehicles.. I used two of them to death and then some at work.. as company vehicles... first was a 1991 4.0L 4x4 XL, had over 178k, needed a new water pump, company sold it off, had two 96's, both over 230k... no trans failures.. no leaks... no nothing.. just kept on going... company sold them both... many more we had with well over 200k.. still going until sold!

  • lol...they should have started by saying..

When you purchased your new Explorer, we knew you'd enjoy that ticking sound from the newly built 4.0L v6..

  • Hah, gotta love the constant tick. I think you can clean/replace the lifters and it will go away....for awhile :)

  • I think some do, but it's too bad they don't put a DVD with each vehicle. Anyone who's ever worked in a service department knows few read the owners manual!

  • i bet if you had one of these back in 1991 you prolly thought that you had the best vehicle ever

  • back in 92 my mom and dad bought one Bran new from the lot and in 04 i got it as my first car/truck/suv

  • You like it I heard the.0 SOHC Engine are horribles when they pass 110 miles.

  • 195,000 and still kickin =]

  • With oil leaks

  • not at all, no leaks

  • Make sure go underneat and check again there got to be a drop of oil somewhere! Mark my words check again underneat the engine and tranmission.

  • no leaks at all, i know my way around an engine, well i would hope so, i am an aircraft technician for the airforce =P

  • I noticed mine leaking oil as well, from the dipstick insert

  • @infinity3jif its 2012 and i still think i have the best vehicle ever.

  • Really advanced for its time!

  • Dude that thing is roomy! I never realized it 'till now. I guess it's because I never rode in the original Explorer :(

  • Do you have any of these older videos for Ranger and F150 for the 80's early 90's?

  • IM glad you posted this i just bought a 94 explorer and had no fuckin idea were the fuses were !!!!

  • Wow what a terrible way they did the sunroof!

  • All cars without power sunroofs are like that. You can either pop it up or take the glass of and put it in the trunk. My bro's Beretta GTZ and my buddy's Celica use the same thing

  • I knew that older trucks and cars were like that, but I figured the Explorer would've been power especially in an EB edition, or a crank. I have seen some old Volvos that you cranked it and it went back into the roof.

  • yeah... the sunroof is weird. glad i have a power one.

  • @91Taurus Ford should've just given the Explorer a power sunroof. It was a dealer installed option though. Even the limited had this kind of sunroof. I actually perfer this over a power one though. Power sunroof get electrical problems over the years. With this i can just replace the seals and go on about my business

  • @91Taurus: Almost. My 1989 Merkur XR4Ti didn't have a power sunroof. But it did have a little crank where the sunroof operation buttons would be. I always felt a little silly, cranking it around.

  • its no worse than using t-tops on a camaro or monte carlo

  • I LOVE explorers but i agree with you.

  • Geez their pants seem a little too low. Hike em up more!

  • The first generation Explorers kick ass. The pussy ass ones they build nowadays don't hold a candle to these beasts.

  • Cool, I just purchased a 1991Explorer SUV 4X4 with a V6 engine. automatic transmission. red/silver in color. its very similar to the one shown in this video. and I'm loving it.

  • How Many miles?

  • Cool!!! I own a 92 ford explorer XLT with a 5 spd transmission with 263,500 miles on the engine and this last May the original transmission went screwy so I had it replace with a 1998 transmission.....the blower fan for the heater/ac went out too last january but then again considering it's age everything else is running A-ok. This is a pretty solid truck and seems to always start even during the coldest of winters especially where I live here in Alberta.

  • We have an '03 Explorer XLT. Are first Explorer was a '97 Eddie Bauer. My mom loves both of them. We gave the Eddie Bauer to my uncle. We still have the '03.

  • "Engineers call them 'ergonomic switches'. I call them a good idea!" hahaha so cheesy

  • breaks my heart to see those firestone tires on the explorer.

  • i love theese car's best in the world this may sound dumb but do they still sell them

  • i LOVE these explorers. Too bad my dad got cut off and wrecked his 92 green eddie bauer....booo hooooooo.......otherwise he would still be driving it today....

  • DAMN watching this makes me want one of these. too bad they dont make them like they use to.

  • Interesting that you say that. We have a 91 and 98 explorer. The 91 runs just as good as it did when we got it. Our 98 runs like shit and takes 25 seconds to reach 65. Our 91 only takes 15 seconds. The 91 is way more powerfull and efficient at off roading too.

  • sounds like you have a problem with the engine, my 96 facelift can hit 60 under 9 seconds

  • Its a transmission problem with the 98. Tell me about this face lift. What parts did you replace. What can I do to get the 91 to reach 65 in 9 sec.

  • yeah. for somereason, even though the 4.0 SOHC has 210 horsepower, its 0-60 is slower. my 95 can reach 60 in 9 seconds

  • 337thousand on my 4 door 94. never 1 problem...not 1

  • I own a 1991 2 Door Eddie Bauer edition ford explorer with the 5 spd manual. I got it for $200 because it had a blown headgasket. I replaced the head gasket and had valve jobs done to all the valves, and it runs great. Everything works on it and it has 200,000 miles on it.

  • hhey cool I ahve this video on vhs. It is pretty neat.

  • what model is this

  • its the 1991 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition

  • I love the old body style Exploerers, especially the "Eddie Bauer" ones.

  • I'm a big explorer fan. this is cool to me

  • wat kind of explorer do u have?

  • I had 92 and 94 sport 4X4's 5spd's and currently

95 loaded Exlorer XLT 4X4 and 96 Explorer XLT 4X4 both modded for full-time 4X4 and control-trac option.

  • nice i tricked out my 2001 xls i have a cardomain page, but i also have a 2006 ss monte carlo its garaged i drive the expo non stop its got 149k miles same tranny and no problems

  • my 95's got 190k and motor is as powerful as it should be.
