  • Would an oil cooler keep the oil from depositing its' vapors on hottish metal? Or is it carbon suspended in oil from a rich mixture? Anyway, looks normal for an OHC engine.

  • uhh that looks fine, just heavy varnish perhaps.

  • That's just a little varnish, you paranoid SOB

Switch to synthetic and quit worrying. Your engine looks splendid.

  • thats not sludge thats normal so a little hardened bulid up from oil vapors wount harm it

  • Looks pretty good for 124,274 miles, better than mine. What oil are you using? What is your change interval? Are you using any engine flushes?

  • @brettkramer

    I am using Mobil1 5W-50

and going to use Motul 8100 for next oil change

  • @cyfei717 I've been using Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 (Full Synthetic) in hopes that using the oil will clean things up a bit. It's interesting how clean your cams are compared to the other surfaces.

  • did you know that the Catalytic Converter is right under the oil pan...

the oil pan is practically hugging it, and that's the hottest part of the exhaust on the car, so it causes your oil to sludge due to all that excess heat, all u have to do is extend the down pipe of the exhaust so the Catalytic Converter is away from the oil pan :)

  • what is oil you used?

  • Give Grandma her wollen winter gloves back! :P haha Looks OK pal
