@mwoodj Ubuntu 11.10 64bit. I use FGLRX drivers. All diagnostic tests ran successfully. I can't play any game in GTLinux. When I hit "Install" the damned thing freezes out.
However I am able to play game via Winetricks>Steam.
Do you get any issues with your sound being low? I'm using an Audigy 4 and even with all the cfg fixes it's still low, I have to turn my speakers up to 12 o clock to hear anything - I normally have them at about 8-9 which is more than enough for any other game.
@GWH87 I also have an Audigy 4 which I use with pure ALSA, no pulse and no dmix, as the great thing about the Audigy 4 with Linux is its awesome hardware mixing. I don't remember noticing any volume issues with my configuration.
@AzazelEblis That is described in step 3. The fix is to configure the game for full screen. If you would like to run in a window use the Gametree GUI to put the game in a window.
So, I'm using this software for Skyrim, and i gotta say... I've got this issue where the mouse wanders uncontrollably, downward and slightly to the right. Any suggestions?
@livinglegend1187 This same question has been posted to my videos before. I will keep my answer short this time... different strokes for different folks.
Give us some more techinical info. What are your specs? What is your framerate like? I'd love to do this! I only ever use windows for gaming and this is the game I am currently obsessed with...
@tooleh, @matthewbpt, @danharibo, My specs are in the video description. While my system was pretty nice at one time it is quite modest for this game. Given a current high-end processor like a nice i7 and a new video card I don't see why someone couldn't run with anything they want enabled. While using medium settings and 4x AA, 4x AF my fps fluctuates between 20 and 30. With high it is similar but can drop into the teens on occasion. Disabling AA should improve things.
I do not use Windows and I haven't in a long time so I have no idea how the game would perform. What I can make a comparison to is how the game runs in GameTree versus Wine. Typically I find that games perform better in cedega (GameTree) when they work. This is definitely true of Oblivion, World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars. I will find out soon if it is true for Skyrim. I also need to spend more time tweaking the settings before deciding what the performance is. The game is very playable.
So that 20 - 30 figure was from my current settings which are somewhere between medium and high. I just tried disabling AA and AF and my performance was boosted to 40 - 50 average and dropping into low 30's in tough spots. Disabling AA does not appear to have had a large affect. Maybe if I had been running with 8x or 16x I would have noticed but dropping 4x AA for this kind of boost is pretty well worth it. Again, the game is very playable and it looks great.
@MrPopinjay That is a good question. I didn't enable anything myself. It seems maybe it was randomly picked or it was determined it met some criteria. I know they are trying to get people to try the HTML5 player so maybe they force some videos to play with it regardless of whether a user has chosen to try the new player. These are all guesses. Bring it on I say. The sooner we can be done with Flash the better.
WIth the new patch TESV.exe will launch the launcher so...

Why would anyone go through the hassle of dealing with Linux to play games?
Windows is all-around a nicer experience.

Awesome, I really didn't want to have to dual-boot, it looks like this will work nicely. Thanks for sharing!
