  • to all those watching this man,be inspired,go out and try amoursmithing.it is a dying Art/practice.....this was the first armor making vid i watched, and that was months ago.i am now capable of making mitten gauntlets, floating elbows, vambraces, and pauldrons(obviously not anywhere near a pretty as dubes)but we need more smithys in the modern world.be inspired

  • Dengel, dengel, dengel, dengel...

  • wooooooooooooooooooo very beautyful

  • *Clang Clang* Music to my ears :D

  • how this elbow part get attached to the armor?

  • @deathknight246810 leater straps either sewn into the under clothes,or linking each piece together with leather throngs

  • it's very good work you are really medieval blacksmith.

  • Loool dude u made the whole German armor yourself :O How long does it take? where did u learn to do this and can one make a living nowadays being an armorsmith?

  • At 1:34 you use an interesting style rivet. What was it?

  • @jeanpauldesens personally i use roofing nails and i think thats what he used here, basically a home-made rivet, just snip it so it barely pokes through the 2 layers of sheet and mushroom the end.whole lot cheaper than buying a box of rivets too:)

  • Some very nice work there!

But I still don't want to wear it in fight.

The steel is way to soft.

A pollaxe would smash through it like through butter.

  • my name is erik as well

  • I like your videos, but most of them are blocked here in Germany because you use copyrighted music :(

  • What is the name of the song used in this video?

  • How come it doesn't tear?

  • No offense but these armour aren't thick enough in my opinion. I recon forge is necessary for thicker metal parts.

  • @Madmachine73 not trying to start an arrgument or any thing, but most of it is made from 16g mild steel. It is about 1.5 mm thick. have you ever tryed to stab threw 1.5mm mild steel. or shoot threw it with a bow. I mean yeah it wont stop a bullet. but it is as thick as it needs to be for it's purpase. I know becouse I used to think the same as you till I started makeing armor my self. but the first pease I ever made I realised I was wrong.

  • @1990christopher Nah I respect your argument. It just happens that I sometimes find really thin armor for what it is on reenactement camps & it surprises me. I haven't fired with bows, but I did shoot through plates it with a bolt at 40 yards. I'm more of a crossbowmen. )))

  • @Madmachine73 Although there are crap armors out there that you could stab threw with a sharp stick. lol but armor made by a true artisan like Eric are acctualy made rite. But like I said I totaly know where your comeing from.

  • Wow... j'aurais pas pensé qu'il y avait autant de travail sur une pièce qui semble simple. Cela s'avère plus complexe que ce que je pensais.

Bravo^^ C'est un excellent vidéo soit dit en passant!

  • this is incredible, this is art!

  • wow! verry nice! i like.

please send scale of in format pdf,for my!

    thanks!

  • where is ur workshop ?

  • Man i still love your work... I can only hope i will be able to do that good someday

  • It looks realy good! But this is not cold forging. This is only cold forming. Cold forging stands up from cold hardening and than cold forming. Try it. Cold forging is the best method of armoure making. It makes the steel far more stronger than hot forging.

  • amazing:O

  • so much effort, I'm a luthier and know the labour very well, great work buddy.

  • how did old timey blacksmiths get sheet metal? did they have to pound out smelted bars or what?

  • My friend and I are working on making medieval armor. I make maille and weapons and he makes plate armor and weapons.

Could we please have a pattern for this from you to help us try this design?

  • 9260 Spring Steel good for armor? Or 4100 steel is better?

  • Too bad armor has no use in the modern world of warfare. Almost any bullet calibur will go through a suit of armor.

    Your better off wearing nothing.

  • its for recreation you stupid ass shut in

  • this probably cost £4000 for all equipment

  • oh my god!!! well done !

  • Where do you go to learn this art? And how much does it cost you for all of that equipment?!

  • well, if u are lucky, u can find an armorer in your city, you just have to look for it, if u live in a country without any decent armorer, like me, then you just have to learn watching this kind of videos, and a lot of webpages about armors, the equipment ...with some basic tools u can make some simple pieces, but if u want to go pro u'll need a lot of money XD see ya

  • the crucible is a great place to learn metal work!

  • The cost is obviously the price of metal and the cost of equipent. Ie: Hammers, vices and so on.

So if you have the equipment and know how, it is probably cheap!

  • Omg, you inspire me to be an armor smith so badly, but it's one dream I can never get. Haha. Keep up the awesome vids, buddy. Don't see many armor smiths making videos with quality (and skill!) like yours. Not to mention great music taste. :D Subbed.

  • Great videos SgtViktor!

What Gauge steels do you use on your armors?? And what grade steel??

  • can you show how to make a crusade helmet?

  • so, when it's the next episode? :D

  • dude so relaxing

  • Its not so relaxing for him as it is for me and you :)

  • Thanks for sharing Eric. Your videos are always an inspiration

  • I cant get enough of these vids, im trying to make armor myself in the danish reactment community, and these films are a great help ! Please keep 'em coming ! 5 stars and double thumbs up !

  • I will keep watching and rating 5* bro.

I'm hoping that you craft a historically accurate nasal helm at some point. I have wanted to make one to pass down to my sons along with my chainmail. But would feel better before starting if i had some form of video reference. From what i know it is made of one piece, and either raised or dished? Anyhow, awesome vid Eric.

  • Tres Bien. Very nicely done! Always excellent videos to watch! Keep up the good work!

  • Fabrication d'armure médiévale Making of medieval armor #11 ?????? Where is

  • Encore un excellent video Éric! Merci!

  • amazing, do you sell armour or have a website?

  • Thank you, thank you, you are the only person who posts videos on how to make armour and i can't say thank you enough for the visual guide for us aspiring blacksmiths. :-D

  • What kind of disc are you using on that grinder? Looks like an easy way to put on a finish

  • he's using flap disks.

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking but even with the 120 grit discs I don't get a finish that smooth, there's still grinder marks. I haven't found discs with a grit higher than that.

  • i use 120 grit discs

  • 120 grit? I know the video isnt all that great but you are not going to convince be there isnt a scotch brite wheel or another grit step in there! That polish is far too even! :)

  • I sand with 120-grit and then I polished on a 14-inch cotton wheel with greaseless 150-grit compound and then I pass it on a wire wheel with olive oil on it and then the final touch I go over it by hand with a 150 grit or so scotch brite.

  • Flap disks can be obtained all the way upto about 600grit.

120 is about as useful as they get for this kind of application though.

  • I would made you my personal armoreur if i was noble in medieval age :D :P

  • Nice work. Wish I had the time to learn your skills.

  • You always make it look so easy...

  • looks great!

  • looking good as always =D

  • He he he, am working on four others videos they should be out by this summer it a lot of work this video almost more then the amour it self :)

    Eric

  • @SgtViktor you did it totaly cold?

  • yes at last

  • At last, a new video!
