@IntegraGSR5 The heater is on all year round at the moment it is set at 18c so if the temp drops during the night the heater comes on , In the winter its only set to 12c to keep the fish active.
@chabevy what ? the heater is on all year round with a pond that big ? i cant even afford to build a pond like that. what kind of heater you are using.
@smokemybighairy When it comes to filters the bigger the better. You would rather have a tank clean for a high price than a dirty, smelly tank for a low price.
looks very good the nexus seems to work very well when are you putting the fish in? let us know in 3 months after instalation if you still are happy with this type of filtration.
the fish have now been in four months and the filter is doing a fantastic job, I was going to go with a bead filter but im glad i decided to get the nexus its well worth the money and mike shaw from evolution aqua is very helpfull if theres any problems,
glad to see its still working o k unfortunatly i had one of the early ones with a sponge fitted on the return from the nexus and this built up a bacteria problem, but of course they no longer have that system..should be good. best of luck
I am in the process of adding another filter a filtoclear 11000 on the skimmer line, It means adding another pump but it is a low wattage pump an aquamax 5500 and the aquamax 8000 on the nexus, going awy to have a look on yours now cheers m8
2-It cannot pump to a very high head and the ultimate output after passing through the filtoclear may reduce by up to 25%.
OASE sell the older aquamax off cheaply to retailers to compensate for the pumps poor performance. I would recommend the new aquamax 6000 eco as its a much better pump. For details check out my website - the address is on my youtube channel.
do you use heater when winter comes ? i wanted to build an above ground pond like urs. but kindda afraid of the cold weather.

I would avoid using an aquamax 5500 for two reasons.
1-The pump actually pumps nowhere near 5500 l.p.h (its nearer 4850 l.p.h)
2-It cannot pump to a very high head and the ultimate output after passing through the filtoclear may reduce by up to 25%.
