@Johnlindsey289 Indeed! This film is truly disturbing because it exposes the real vampiric impulse in society.
The director also made a film titled "The Funeral" that deals with similar ideas about what happens when we allow ourselves to make choices that we know are wrong.
Do you consider this to be a more mature version of Twilight? this movie does reflect sanguinine vampires but no Psychic vampires in sight. You glad Abel didn't make the vampires sparkle in the sunlight in this movie because they are different?
@Johnlindsey289 Yes - an accurate portrayal of what vampires actually are. That supernatural stuff comes from the Imaginal World of subjectivity. These things don't exist in objective reality.
The Zohar says, "Evil prevails when it is given power". Evil is a shadow. In order to continue "existing" it needs to keep a human being focused on the shadow instead of the light.
If you say "something must exist to make a shadow" - this isn't true in imagination.
Ever seen movies like Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, Near Dark, The Hunger, Lifeforce, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Planet of the Vampires, Habit, Def By Temptation, The Forsaken, Blade 2, Rabid, Omega Man, Last Man on Earth, Sleepwalkers and others? those portrayed unconventional vampires on film before a certain movie franchise did.
@Johnlindsey289 Have seen The Hunger, Planet of the Vampires, Blade (all of them), Omega Man, Last Man on Earth. But none of them do as good a job of showing the atavistic nature of "vampirism" as is found in The Addiction. Will locate and watch the other films you mention. Thanks...

The real reason she was not able to have that young priest come with her was that his destiny was not to have his blood sucked, but rather to drown in it after his Escalade flipped and the husband of the blonde chick in this clip covered the guy's mouth & nose.
Drowning in his own blood - that's the apparent cause of death.
The Addiction is an unconventional 1995 vampire film by Abel Ferrara, starring Lili Taylor, Edie Falco, Paul Calderon and Christopher Walken. It was written by Ferrara's regular screenwriter, Nicholas St John, filmed in black and white and released simultaneously with Ferrara's period gangster film, The Funeral.
Damn Lili Taylor played the hell out of this movie.

In my case the phrase "guilt is eternal" I'm probably the one that's going to find out if it is! One never knows what the future holds?

This is an important film about the human attraction to evil - and the only real antidote to that evil.

You'll also like "The Funeral".
"The Addiction" is a genuine horror film because it is so close to the truth. That's why it wasn't very successful.
Thanks for the comment...
