Due dates are difficult to calculate, in reality they are nothing more than a "guess date"

Sadly your baby being late for her guess date can cause what seems like widespread panick. I went almost 3 weeks past my guess date and I couldn't walk down the street without someone asking when I was gonna be induced. Of course I didn't, when my body was fully ready and my baby was ready birth began, and it flowed gently and perfectly.

What are your thoughts on induction?

i had a natural birth as will to now she two months old. my water broke at home i had to call for the ambulance to get me to the hospital if i didnt call i would of had her at home in my bed i didnt had no med eithier they had offerered when i first went in i had to go to the hospital twice i started labor about 5am intill 11:30pm i said no intill it got to intense the wouldnt give to me i asked 3 different times they still give the med to me they it was to late.

I'm not pregnant, not trying to get pregnant or anything yet but Im really interested in natural childbirth as well as other natural options to health concerns although i don't consider pregnancy or birth a "health concern" lol! You need to do what's best for you and your baby, but keep in mind that if something does go wrong, any delay in treatment can be life-threatening. I went to the hospital, and found it absolutely fine, no complaints. The nurses weren't around much (I enjoyed the time to ourselves, and our great doctor came in just at the very end. It was a comfort to know that the medical help was near if necessary. Why would you want to not cut the cord? Wouldn't you want to minimize the baby's blood loss?

@kittjo cutting the cord too soon robs the baby of the blood he/she needs... read about Lotus Birth... it's fascinating. I am due in 14 weeks and am planning on leaving the placenta intact at least three hours...

It really needs to be left intact for at least 5-10 minutes after birth (minimum) to allow the blood that was forced back up into the cord/placenta during the child's descent through the birth canal to return to his/her body naturally... reduces complications after birth. ;-D

I had a natural med-free birth but it was at the hospital. I had a mid wife but she couldn't be there so I had a doctor & didn't get to do everything I wanted like not cut the cord right away. But I was only in labor for 4 hours and only at the hospital fort 2 before Zach was born. It was important to me that I wasn't a screaming cursing laboring woman and I think I did a very good job being patient, kind, and strong. Then just a few pushes later I had this wonderful alert and healthy baby :)

I am into organics and natural oils as well. I'm not able to handle much pain at all and I'm trying not to doubt myself. i'm 35 weeks. How did you handle it? Sarah gave birth at the birthing center a few miles from our house. The room in the video is the room at the center.

Sarah said it was painful givin birth. I think women are as strong if not stronger in many ways than us men.

Birthing a child is a big sacrafice for women.

The birthing center we chose was a stones throw from the hospital and our midwife was well connected with good doctors in the hospital. We met with our midwife each month for 7 months prior to the delivery and my wife was at home in her custom delivery room shown in the video.

If we had to do it all over again, we would do it the same way.

=) I used a Sony camera I bought from someone for 25 dollars off Craigslist. He sold it because it was broken. I used a little tape to keep a part from rubbing on a turning piece and it worked fairly well. I'm glad we had it along to capture this to show my little girl when she gets older.

Jessica had little congestion in her lungs because she came a few days past due. The doctors at the hospital didn't give her any drugs or anything else. We just wanted to stay overnight and make sure she was good.
