Actually Ginsberg did write some interesting songs. Father Death Blues, Cigarette Rag, and others. Most of the good modern poets can come up with concepts like those expressed in McCartney's lyrics in the blink of an eye. Poetry is probably 50 or 100 years ahead of songwriting currently in terms of the concepts involved.

Actually, McCartney's rejection of Ginsberg's criticism and edits displayed a confident intelligence. Rejecting changes from a man of Ginsberg's stature and talent - a man who commanded McCartney's respect - shows that he was secure enough to defend his own creative vision.
