They had Janis Joplin join them, and then added more, then took a "Mystery Train" all the way up to Canada to do just an Improv SHOW~! Imagine..WOW ~~!!!!!
why am I saying this? About Canadian dentists and all? Because some people might come up here and think they are are in the land of 'universal dental care.' Nothing could be further from the truth. Up here, we are at the mercy of dentists from all over the world who have recognized that dental care here is perhaps the most expensive dental care in the world. And they charge accordingly. The only way you are going to get your teeth fixed cheap up here is by working for the MAN! GO TO MEXICO!
Anyway, and on the subject of dentists again. I have had my teetth fixed in England and Canada and Mexico. Canada is the worst - they know there is a shortage of dentist up here and they will milk you until your wallet cries. England was the best, but I haven't been there for 30 years so I don't know if they are as good as they were then. Mexico; where I was last year, has exceptionally good dentists if you are willing to pay. Don't go cheap, buy the the best and stand tall.
Anyway, I went to 'my dentist' today and he charged me 700 bucks for less than two hours work. And now I can't chew properly. Want my advice? Go to Mexico to get your teeth fixed. Don't get blown away on the 'cheapest possible.' Hire the most expensive dentist you can find down there (keep your eyes open sweetie) and get way better dental work done for about one third the price you will pay in Canada for a mediocre dentist. There, I'm drunk and I'm finished.
You want my opinion? Straight out of the swamp and all that? That ain't Butterfield. Guitar player is alright, Where is that harp taking command? I could play this guy's harp. Not play it better (maybe) but do as well as any body who has studied say 'On the Road Again.' some neat little riffs in that song, and the player (blind owl) got them from somewhere. Where?
that is NOT an elvis song. jeez. why is it so hard just to give simple credit to a songwriter ? the band knew who wrote it. i guess that's the most important. but it's still so unecessary with the internet and everything available to give respect to the author. just saying.
No this is prior to Jim Wieder joining. The suplimental musicians are The Cate Brothers Band. The guitar player is either Ernie or Earl Cate (not sure which is which). The 2nd drummer is Terry Nagle who is Levon Helms nephew.
The guitarist is Earl Cate of the Cate Brothers. Not sure that is Terry Cagle on drums. Checkout the Cate Brothers tracks - Am I Losing You - on Youtube
@dylanpresley Earl is the guitarist, Ernie is the keyboard player.
What's interesting about this tour is the instrumentation with the Cate Brothers Band on board. You now had one guitartist again (Earl), but now two drummers (Levon and Terry, three if you count Richard), two bassists (Rick and Ron Eoff, although Rick played lots of acoustic) and three keyboardists (Garth, Richard and Ernie.) Weider briefly reestablished the classic five piece in 1985 -- then Richard died.
Hah! One of my favorite "Post-Dead" tunes. The Other Ones do a great cover of this song. is this originally by The Band?

in levon's book he talks fondly about this tour, but it was impossibly expensive at the time to keep that big a band on the road...

Rick Danko's voice KILLS

This is one of the songs where Robbies guitar playing is definitley missed. Not that this guy is bad, its just missing that amazing main riff

Loved Rick Danko but this particular song doesn't have the same growl and snap to it as when Levon's in the lead.
