Yeah, Thompson scored on that play because he was being guarded by a shorter, slower, less athletic and less experienced player. You might wanna watch the play again, it started out near mid-court with Hurley between Thompson and the basket, and ended with Thompson beating Hurley off the dribble and going around him with a nice spin move for an easy 2, it's not like he was posted up 5 feet from the basket.

hurley wasnt with duke in 89.he joined duke at the start of 1990.quin snyder was the point guard for duke in 89.i can prove it too.i have every duke game on dvd since 1988.this game is from 1990.

In the ACC-Big East Challenge, the conferences vied for—and ended up sharing—bragging rights". It's dated December 18 1989. Also, surely a Duke fan would remember that Bobby Hurley was a freshman on the team that got blown out by UNLV in 1990, and was a sophomore on the team that beat an undefeated UNLV in the Final 4 the following year.

hurley was only a freshman here he didnt really become the great point guard at duke till 2 years later.
